This study aims to produce an overview of the needs of Japanese teaching materials at the Tomohon "Bethesda" Nursing Academy. The approach and method used is a mixed approach or a mixed method that is a research approach that combines qualitative and quantitative forms. Creswell, (2014: 5) Data obtained by observation, survey and interview techniques. By using a mixed method approach, the data collected in the form of text are described qualitatively. Likewise with data through a questionnaire, tabulated in percentage and subsequently described qualitatively. The results of the needs analysis show that both learners and instructors, all of them need teaching materials that the contents of the material in a variety of skills should be in accordance with the special field of expertise that is the field of nursing that is well-graded, and well designed too. Furthermore, in the learning process it should also be equipped with cassettes, videos, and sufficient practice questions and good evaluation. This study recommends that teaching materials be developed that reflect comprehensive needs in the area of health expertise, especially nursing. Keywords: Needs Analysis, Japanese Language Teaching Materials, School of Nursing.

The present study explored the relationship between attitudes toward transgender individuals and the judgments people make in transgression scenarios involving transgender and cisgender individuals of different ages in a sample of 184 Romanian students. We used a mixed-method approach (quantitative and qualitative) and tested the effect of gender identity (cisgender or transgender) on participants' punishments in a hypothetical transgression (i.e., theft). In hypothetical transgressions involving preadolescent transgender and cisgender agents, results suggested no differences in participants' theft punishments. However, adult cisgender transgressors received significantly harsher punishments compared to transgender transgressors. Our qualitative analyses (N=736) suggested that the most frequent categories of responses justifying the punishments confirmed the importance of the agent's age. Our findings suggested no significant associations between participants' gender and reported the previous contact with an LGBTQ member and the punishments they chose for child and adult transgressors. Results are discussed in light of their implication in the contemporary, highly LGBTQ intolerant Romanian context.

The growth of construction industry in Malaysia is stimulated by various mega infrastructure projects. Due to this, the competent construction workers become the catalyst in realizing the goals. Using mixed method approach in explanatory research, this study aimed to analyze the training needs based on 300 Indonesian construction workers’ competency. Findings showed that there are significant differences between knowledge and skills possessed by the Indonesian workers, based on two types of training; theory and practical. However, the training on skills is considered critical as it is a need for the Indonesian workers to fulfil the job requirements in Malaysia.

This chapter reviews the challenges and advantages of writing a mixed method research (MMR) proposal. The argument put forward is that a mixed method approach overcomes the shortcomings of the commonly used qualitative and quantitative methods. A brief definition of a research proposal is followed by a discussion on the different interpretations of a mixed method and what makes mixed methods ideal in the proposal example that follows. A mixed method can be either one that utilizes qualitative and quantitative methods to different degrees or it can be regarded as a distinct method by itself. A mixed method is suitable where both different types of data can be collected, when the data adds value to what would be achieved using one approach and where cost also justifies it. A hypothetical case example where an application is being made to conduct an evaluation of an anti-truancy program is presented.

Background: Knowledge of exclusive breastfeeding (EBF) among women is essential when promoting optimal breastfeeding practices. Breastfeeding is recommended for the first six months of life and continuation of breastfeeding and adequate complementary foods for up to two years of age or beyond.Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study design was used. This study utilized a mixed method approach (qualitative and quantitative).Results: The prevalence of exclusive breastfeeding was low at 33.6%. Data revealed that 60.9% of respondents were knowledgeable on the benefits of EBF, while 38.6% were not knowledgeable, the rest of the respondents did not respond or their answers were not valid.Conclusions: Women's knowledge on benefits EBF and intention to practice it is still low. There was significant difference in the participants place of residence (rural versus urban).

Universities of technology in Zimbabwe enrol students with various background educational qualifications for Textile, Clothing and Design programmes. The students are combined and learn in same class resulting in high students’ failure rate, drop outs, late completion of degree programmes, and poor performance of graduates. Thus researchers sought to examine curriculum adaptation procedures used to cater for the students. Post-positivism paradigm in mixed method research approach was adopted for the study. Interviews with TCD management, document analysis, and questionnaire with lecturers yielded qualitative and quantitative data. Findings revealed that lecturers employed various uncoordinated methods to adapt the curriculum content to cater for the students

Many institutions are facing or have faced challenges related to vandalism of equipment and property in Zimbabwe. This criminal phenomenon is not only restricted and peculiar to this country but is experienced in other regions of the world, however with variations. The purpose of the study is to explore and unpack the various dimensions of infrastructure vandalism by gazing at Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA) a power utility in Zimbabwe. The level of vandalism has been increasing unabated resulting in in a multitude of undesirable effects on the power utility and the economy as a whole. A plethora of stimulants have been seen to be triggering and sustaining the theft and vandalism of the infrastructure which targets copper conductors, copper windings, oils and the poles in the majority of cases. The study adopted the mixed method approach due to its technical advantage of converging and merging qualitative and quantitative data in order to provide comprehensive results and produce new knowledge claims. This methodological framework was guided by the structural materialism theory which is an off shot of the critical criminology perspective. Thus, the study found out that infrastructure vandalism is representative of a broader dysfunctional socioeconomic system of a country riddled by poverty, unemployment and the absence of mores and values within communities. Consequently, the levels of infrastructure vandalism have spiraled to unprecedented levels. The study concludes that the government is failing to sufficiently address the macro-economic fundamentals as way of discouraging citizens from engaging in crime and criminality while the traditional leaders are not being respected yet they have a significant role they can play in promoting the stability and serenity of communities. In view of these conclusions the study recommends that all stakeholders contribute towards the protection of all infrastructure and migrate to digitalize the protection of such infrastructure as well as promulgation of appropriate pieces of legislation.

Practice questions are the main part of every textbook, especially to evaluate and measure students’ abilities and skills. One of the books that are often used as a textbook by various madrasas and Islamic boarding schools on learning naḥwu for beginners is the al-Naḥw al-Wāḍīḥ. Unfortunately, this book has not determined the quality in the validity of practice for the lesson, because it was written by an Arabic native speaker. So, the target of this book is not for non-native Arabic speakers. This study uses a mixed method of qualitative and quantitative to describe a more complete picture of item analysis. The purpose of this study was to determine the quality of practice questions in the al-Naḥw al-Wāḍīḥ book in terms of validity, reliability, level of difficulty, and discriminating power. The results obtained are, (1) 93% of the exercise sample is under content validity; (2) from the results of the ANOVA test of two exercise samples, this test is quite reliable; (3) the difficulty level of the sample practice questions on naḥwu is fairly easy; (4) the discriminating power of the nahwu sample is sufficient. Thus, the analysis of practice questions in al-Naḥw al-Wāḍīḥ is sufficient to measure students’ abilities.

Considering that most part of organisational operations depend on group effectiveness, yet there is scarcely any empirical study on the interactions between group-tacit knowledge and organisational effectiveness. In order to overcome this gap, this study involves a survey of 230 managers and other administrative & technical employees of the four major firm in the Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) sub-market of Nigeria’s telecommunications industry. Data was gathered using a mixed method research approach. Correlation, Regression, Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) statistics and thematic analysis was carried out as means of testing the hypothesis for this research study. The findings showed that firms need to focus keenly on ideas of employees that are shared during conferences, team leaders’ mentoring role, collective reasoning over task and constantly hold strategic meetings that probe into developments arising in each functional unit of the organisation. These factors are shown to have a strong influence on organisational effectiveness.

AbstractThe growing interest in sustainability has dominated the area of entrepreneurship research. However, the measuring of sustainability factors has been largely ignored. As a result, so far, no researchers have developed sustainability factor scales and this might lead to a question of scale validity. This paper attempts to fill this gap: the aim of this study is to develop and validate scales of sustainability factor by investigating a microenterprise from the informal sector. In its design, the study uses a mixed method research approach. In the qualitative phase, content analysis has been applied to analyse the transcribed field study interviews. This procedure explores and confirms the sustainability variables and factors. The quantitative data are analysed through Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) followed by Partial Least Square (PLS) approach. Quantitative analysis then validates the variables and factors. The study then specifies scales of sustainability factors in the context of an informal microenterprise and assesses them as reflective in nature. The limitations of the study are then identified and thoughts to stimulate future investigations discussed.
