Goal. To study the spread and severity of slime mold on turfgass in Ukraine. Methods. Field and laboratory methods were used. The research was conducted on two varieties of mixed with different percentage and species composition of cereal grasses. The survey of crops was performed during vegetation in the Polissya, Forest-steppe and Steppe areas. For the identification of pathogen, a selection of plant samples was carried out with further analysis in laboratory conditions. The observations were conducted according to generally accepted methods; spread and severity of disease were determined. Results. The first time in Ukraine revealed damage to the cereal grasses (Physarum cinereum (Batsch) Pers.). Symptoms and morphological characteristics of the pathogen are described. In the Kiev region, in terms of distribution and development, it exceeded other pathogens (30.6—39.0% and 15.4—21.2% correspondingly). In the Kirovograd region, slime mold was observed in 2016 and 2017 at a much lower degree. Its spread was 8.4—10.5% with severity within the range of 3.1—4.5%. In the Zhytomyr region during the period of research symptoms of this disease were not fixed. The most favorable for the development of Physarum cinereum was the growing season of 2017. Conclusions. For the first time in Ukraine, the appearance of disease caused by Physarum cinereum was detected on lawn grasses. The spread of this disease has been noted on both types of grass mixtures. The phytopathological analysis showed that slime mold was the most widespread diseases in the Forest-Steppe zone (Kyiv region), where it dominated in the complex of leaf diseases. In Steppe zone (Kirovograd region) in the period of 2016—2017 it's spread was much lower and in Polissya zone (Zhytomyr region) symptoms of slime mold was not revealed.

Vertical gardening with different types of vines in modern conditions is important aesthetic and sanitary-hygienic value. It is especially important to address the issues of enrichment of the flora of urban areas with vines in the steppe regions due to poor species composition and a sharp deterioration of the ecological situation. The objects of research were 7 species of lianas, various life forms (annual, perennial), growing in the settlements of the Saratov region (Atkarsk, Saratov). The aim of the research is to study the ecological and biological features and reclamation properties of vines and identify the prospects for their use in vertical gardening residential areas of the Saratov region. In the study, species composition was the most popular species of annual vines: morning glory red-blue (Ipomea tricolor (L.) Roth) and purple morning glory (Ipomea purpurea (L.) Roth), the fragrant pea (Lathyrus edoratus L.), nasturtium (Tropacolum peregrinum L.) and runner beans (Phaseolus coccineus). Most (70%) of them grow in restricted areas. Studied species of vines in the study regions reach average natural performance (with proper care), have good indicators of vital condition, bloom abundantly and bear fruit. When exposed to toxicants of different concentrations on the leaf blades of vines established their degree of stability. It was revealed that the annual vines are better used for decorative purposes, and not in the sanitary-hygienic. A comparative assessment of annual species with perennial vines (maiden grapes and clematis Tangut) shows the stability of perennial species (an average of 3 points-40%). The options and decorative compositions with the participation of herbaceous vines. According to the degree of decoration of the allocated annual vine – Ipomea tricolor, I. purpurea (37 – 41 points), the average degree of differ – Lathyrus edoratus (33 points), Tropacolum peregrinum (30 points) and Phaseolus coccineus (20 to 27 points). The advantage of perennial vines is their resistance to sudden changes in climatic conditions (40 %) compared to annual forms. Therefore, they are more preferable for greening the urban environment. To enhance the decorative effect in the seasonal aspect, it is recommended to combine the expansion of species and form diversity of plants (perennial and annual lianas, tree and shrub, floral vegetation). It is established that the climatic conditions of the steppe and forest-steppe zone within the Saratov region are quite favorable for the normal growth and development of tree and shrub vegetation, including herbaceous lianas. Thus, the reasonable use of wood vines in combination with traditional types of plantings will create comfortable living conditions for the population, regulate the optimal temperature balance and create favorable microclimatic conditions.

ABSTRACTThe study the diet of Eneolithic populations is of great interest to archaeologists. However, the studies undertaken in the steppe and forest-steppe zones of Volga region in Russia have left many issues unsolved. Data collected recently through the comprehensive studies of Lebyazhinka VI settlement enable us to change this situation. Of particular importance at this settlement site is good preservation of animal bones, bone fishing tools, and ceramics of the same type with food crusts and connected to a large house pit. For the first time in this geographical area, bones of domestic animals were found in the fill of a dwelling. The aim of this paper is to present the results obtained through comprehensive studies of diet and economy in the Eneolithic based on the materials from Lebyazhinka III and Lebyazhinka VI settlement sites. The main results of the archaeozoological analysis— determinations of species, age and size of the animals—provide the necessary data for studying the diet. We conclude that there are differences between Lebyazhinka III and Lebyazhinka VI settlements. Lebyazhinka III settlement included bones of only wild species, however, Lebyazhinka VI settlement consists of wild and domestic species.

he effect of sowing multiple-nutrient mineral fertilizerapplication on spring wheat crops of the Astrid variety on gray forest soils of the forest-steppe zone was found. The study of the weather conditions of the growing season showed that the total amount of precipitation during the growing season was significantly lower than the average annual -158 mm as compared to 220 mm of the normal. The monthly rainfalls sharply differed from long-term ones; this had a significant impact on the formation of yield and grain quality. The application of NPK fertilizer and ammoni-um-phosphate-sulfate at a rate of 100 kg ha and ammoni-um phosphate fertilizer at a rate of 50 kg ha increased the yield of spring wheat grain by 8-66%, and the gluten con-tent in the variant with ammonium phosphate fertilizer at the level of 26-31% ascompared to 28% in the control. The payback of 1 kg of the primary nutrient of the fertilizers by grain yield gain was the highest against the background of NPK fertilizer and ammonium-phosphate-sulfate -55.0 and 40.8 kg, respectively. The protein content in wheat grain for in all fertilization variants ranged within 13.1-15.2% as compared to 13.7% in the unfertilized variant. The thou-sand-kernel weight as a result of obtaining high gains in the variants of sowing application ranged within 31.1-38.3 g; TKW below the control was in the variants with ammonium phosphate fertilizer and ammonium-phosphate-sulfate -31.1 and 33.4 g. The grain-unit belonged to Class 3 (no less than 730). It has been found that it is agronomically efficient when cultivating soft spring wheat in a temperately moist zone, on more arid years, on gray forest soils, when sowing, to apply NPK fertilizer and ammonium-phosphate-sulfate at a rate of 100 kg ha.

The article presents the results of a taxonomic study of the archaeozoological collection from the Zolotoye 1 settlement. The settlement is located in the steppe zone of the Tobol-Ishim interfluve (the Polovinsky District of the Kurgan Region). A significant part of artefacts, including bone remains, belong to the Alakul culture of the Late Bronze Age (17th–16th centuries BC). A small collection (a total of 6 fragmented vessels) attributed to the Alek-seyevka-Sargary culture was also identified. The relevance of this work is determined by the fact that data on the species composition of Alakul archaeozoological collections are predominantly obtained from necropolises, whereas economic characteristics are primarily reflected by materials from the settlements. The study in question was conducted using the paleozoological method. The taxonomic affiliation of bones was determined using the reference collection of skeletons from the Zoological Museum of the Institute of Plant and Animal Ecology UB RAS along with corresponding atlases. The conclusion about the taxonomic affiliation of fossil remains was based on the similarities in composition and size between the morphological structures of bones. The age of the indi-viduals was determined by the degree of tooth abrasion and by the attachment of the pineal gland. The studied osteological collection includes 2783 items. In order to define the features of its occurrence considering species composition, a planigraphic analysis was performed. To this end, we used data collected from a digital total sta-tion and field inventories. As a result, it was found that the bone remains belong mainly to domestic animals (99.5 %). Cattle bones (47 %) predominate, followed by the bones of small cattle (34 %) and horses (18 %). Jud-ging by age characteristics, cattle were kept for the production of milk and meat. The remains of wild animals are scarce (0.5 %). They include commercial species (elk, hare, waterfowl), which indicates that the Alakul population was engaged in hunting. The comparison of domestic and wild animals, the composition of the herd from the Zolotoye 1 settlement located in the interfluve area with the archaeozoological collections of the Late Bronze Age from the forest-steppe Trans-Urals revealed their similarity, first of all, with Alakul materials originating from the layer of settlements confined to river systems. This fact reflects the general line of development in livestock breeding of the period under consideration, which suggests that the carriers of the Alakul culture developed stable forms of adaptation to different living conditions.

Long-term studies (2014–2019) of the population dynamics of the fungus Rhizoctonia solani Küch. were carried out in the soil on the Purple Majesty, Vitelotte and Fioletovy potato varieties and preceding crops (potatoes, oats and tendergreen). The study was carried out in Novosibirsk region in the soil and climatic conditions typical of the forest-steppe zone of Western Siberia. To study the peculiarities of R. solani fungus population dynamics in potato plantations, soil samples were taken from under the plants during the entire growing season. The accumulation of rhizoctonia propagules in the soil was determined using the method of multiple soil pellets. The difference in the amount and rate of accumulation of the fungus R. solani on different varieties, as well as the influence of previous crops on this process, was established. Two peaks of the fungus accumulation were observed on the Purple Majesty variety: the first (48.7 propagules/100 g of soil) – during the full germination period, the second (57.2 propagules/100 g of soil) – at the end of the crop maturation phase. One peak was observed in the population dynamics of the fungus on Vitelotte and Fioletovy varieties, at the end of the ripening period (59.0 and 49.1 propagules/100 g soil, respectively). The smallest amount of R. solani fungus in the soil on average during the growing season was noted on the Fioletovy variety – 33.3 propagules/100 g of soil. In the Purple Majesty and Vitelotte varieties, this figure was 41.5 and 40.4 propagules/100 g of soil, respectively. When potato variety Agata was cultivated as monoculture, there was a rapid and significant accumulation of the fungus R. solani in the soil (from 34.6 to 126.8 propagules/100 g of soil). When this variety was cultivated following tendergreen or oats, the amount of the pathogen varied to a lesser extent (25.1–52.2 and 19.8–41.0 propagules/100 g of soil, respectively). No sharp increases in the number of propagative structures of the phytopathogen in the soil were noted.

Aim. The culture of buckwheat is traditional for our country. A number of economic and social factors of the last decades caused a significant decrease of its production that led to decrease an internal consumption and export potential losses. One of the possible ways to solve this problem is expanding the range of varietal spectrum of buckwheat culture at the expense of genotypes oriented on summer (stubble) sowing with the development of appropriate cultivation technologies. The prerequisites for this are the steady tendencies to the warming climate in the traditional areas of buck-wheat cultivation. Methods. The data of buckwheat samples collection environmental testing in the northern east forest-steppe (NEFS) of Ukraine conditions has been analyzed by statistical processing analyses. Results. The general plan of works envisaged the research of the buckwheat samples collection under the analyzing background conditions, the selection of group and individual characteristics of the different genotypes by response to photoperiod; the previous evaluation of the selection directions and the effectiveness of it. Conclusions. The analysis of the growing season conditions dynamics, the interphase periods length and plants productivity of the spring and summer sowing indicates the advisability of the separate plant breeding program for creating the varietal technology for summer crops cultivation for NEFS area. Keywords: buckwheat, variety, photoperiod, growing season length, stubble sowing.

The value of foliar dressing is presented to achieve the maximum productivity of cultivated crops in agropedocenoses of the forest-steppe zone of the Russian Federation. When cultivating apple orchards in perennial agropedocenoses according to intensive technologies, the optimization of the nutritional regime is one of the most significant factors in obtaining a stably high crop yield of high-quality fruits. To fully provide apple trees with nutrient elements and growth biostimulators during the growing season, it is necessary to use special fat and water-soluble fertilizers and growth biostimulators. Most effectively, they are applied along the leaf surface as a foliar dressing. The leaf surface systems we developed and tested include the introduction of macro-, meso- and microelements and biological stimulating agents. The latter include various groups and types of amino acids, root, growth and development, flowering and setting, ripening and staining stimulating agents. The use of an integrated foliar dressing system has made it possible to provide the most complete need for apple trees with the necessary nutrients and compounds during the entire growing season. The obtained experimental data showed a high efficiency in changing a balanced system of foliar dressing in an intensive apple orchard. Compared to the control, there was a significant increase in the growth activity of the central conductor and fruit wood. Fruit setting rates, caliber and weight of apples and therefore more than 95% of the yield corresponded to the highest and first grade. The yield increased significantly compared to the control, it was from 28 to 66% for varieties and variants. Experimental studies showed high efficiency of foliar dressing with special fertilizers and growth biostimulating agents.
