Fake info or bogus statistics is a new term and it is now considered as a greatest threat to democracy. Since the world is full of surprises and humans have developed their delicate nature to detect unexcepted information. Social media plays a vital role in information spreading, since the impact towards fake information has gained more attention due to the social media platforms. Trending the hot topic without analyzing the information will introduce great impact over millions of people. So, it is essential to analyze the message and its truthfulness. Emotional analysis is an important factor in bogus statistics as the information gets reshared among other based on individual emotions. Considering these facts in social media information analysis, an efficient emotional analysis for bogus statistics in social media is proposed in this research work using recurrent neural network. In an emotional perspective, fake messages are compared with actual message and false messages are identified experimentally using recurrent neural network.

The popularity of influencers is continuous and doesn’t have a limited window of influence. Internet and social media play vital role in helping consumers find the items they are looking for. Obviously companies will keenly try to retain a strong presence in the social media platforms; otherwise the target audience can easily change suppliers. The present   study is intended to explore the influencer marketing techniques used by fashion industries and also the impact of influencers on the consumers buying decision process in fashion industry.


In the present scenario it is observed that 66.60 percent population of the world has a mobile device (cell phones, tablets and other mobile devices). Billions of users are using the social media across various platforms like Facebook, Whatsapp, Twitter, Instagram etc. But simultaneously, the Internet crimes and frauds are increasing rapidly day by day across the world in which the social media platforms are playing a vital role. Criminals use mobile phones as a partner in their crimes. They use social media platforms for criminal motive. To hold-up and to trace the criminals, the investigation agencies try to find out the locations of the criminals by tracing their mobile numbers using CDR analysis, IP address analysis and other methods. But the criminal have been intelligent now and using the new technologies to hide themselves. The criminals use social media accounts for calling and chatting so that police or other investigation agencies cannot trace them easily. In such conditions, it was felt necessary to develop such a tool that can facilitate the investigating agencies and police personnel to trace the criminals easily. Therefore, a tool named SNUFF is developed by the authors that can help the police and other agencies to trace and find out the exact location of the person or the criminal who has been using the social media sites for his ill intentions.

Various studies in the information technology revealed that there has been a change in the trend of internet use in recent years. Internet users in the world prefer to spend time accessing the internet through the social media. Social media with a variety of platforms provides special communities with their own uniqueness and allows users to share lots of content. The members involves creates a new social community with various phenomena, both positive and negative. Counselors in the millennium era are required to have the insight andknowledge that is qualified to deal with the well being conditions of individuals from activities in social media. Much of the existing research in social media has been directed at examining the consequences of the interactive nature of the evolving medium and communication issues, with little to say about the impact of this medium on brands. Drawing on Fiske's relational model, this current chapter examines the interface between social media and brands, particularly on the breadth and the dimensions of the level of engagement. Social networks, such as Facebook and Twitter, are revolutionising the way companies market their products. New means of interaction and dialogue are used in part because of the inherent structure and features of these social media platforms. The chapter concludes by discussing the implications of the analysis for understanding of new terminology in the evolving marketing environment.

This chapter examines the impacts of social media on children. Advantages and disadvantages of social media are always available. Positive aspects of social media include allowing children to be brought up as multicultural individuals, enabling education and training environments to design for purposes, using as the main or supplementary source of education, a great power in creating and sharing information. Its negative aspects include leading to a reduction of their academic, social, and cognitive skills in the early periods when children were exposed to the social media, causing the children to develop obesity, mostly bringing up as consumption-centered individuals, perceive the world as a screenshot, and have low critical, creative, and reflective thinking skills. Therefore, one of the most important tasks undertaken to reduce or eliminate the negative effects is to raise and educate media-literate individuals.

A handful of social media companies, with their shifting strategies to become hosts of all information available online, have significantly changed the news media landscape in recent years. Many news media companies across the world have gone through reorganizations in a bid to keep up with new storytelling techniques, technologies, and tools introduced by social media companies. With their non-transparent algorithms favoring particular content formats and lack of interest in developing solid business models for publishers, social media platforms, on the other hand, have attracted widespread criticism by many academics and media practitioners. This chapter aims at discussing the impact of social media on journalism with the help of digital research that provides an insight on what storytelling types with which three most-followed news outlets in Turkey gain the most engagement on Facebook.


Through case studies of incidents around the world where the social media platforms have been used and abused for ulterior purposes, Chapter 6 highlights the lessons that can be learned. For good or for ill, the author elaborates on the way social media has been used as an arbiter to inflict various forms of political influence and how we may have become desensitized due to the popularity of the social media platforms themselves. A searching view is provided that there is now a propensity by foreign states to use social media to influence the user base of sovereign countries during key political events. This type of activity now justifies a paradigm shift in relation to our perception and utilization of computerized devices for the future.

Social advertising, ads in social media platforms, have become popular in recent years because of the evolution of internet technologies such as web analytics and big data mining. The content of the social advertisement is tailored in order to personalize the message to the target consumer groups. In an effort to reach the prospects, marketers should focus on the social leads on social networking sites (SNS) to promote and to sell their brands/products. Drawing on, online personalized advertising literature, e-WOM recommendations and increasing privacy concerns and perceived ad personalization (conceptualized as functions of psychological reactance) on SNS leads to avoid such advertisements. The goal of the study is to investigate the impact of perceived personalization, privacy concern, and e-WOM to consumers' behavioral click through intentions towards social ads. This study contributed to the theory of psychological reactance by indicating that the individuals with less privacy concern and personalized recommendations from their contacts on SNS have a smaller amount of reactance towards social advertisements than commercial advertisements by marketers. Suggestions for advertisers, social media marketing practitioners conclude the paper.

With the amplification of social media platforms, the importance of social media analytics has exponentially increased for many brands and organizations across the world. Tracking and analyzing the social media data has been contributing as a success parameter for such organizations, however, the data is being poorly harnessed. Therefore, the ethical implications of social media analytics need to be identified and explored for both the organizations and targeted users of social media data. The present work is an exploratory study to identify the various techno-ethical concerns of social media engagement, as well as social media analytics. The impact of these concerns on the individuals, organizations, and society as a whole are discussed. Ethical engagement for the most common social media platforms has been outlined with a number of specific examples to understand the prominent techno-ethical concerns. Both the individual and organizational perspectives have been taken into account to identify the implications of social media analytics.
