The article discusses the importance of thermal insulation of building shells as the main aspect of energy saving in the construction industry and as one of the key elements in solving the global environmental problem of energy saving in the world, which leads to the need to reduce energy consumption to save the environment and living conditions of mankind.

Current consumption of cloud computing has attracted more and more attention of scholars. The research on Hadoop as a cloud platform and its energy consumption has also received considerable attention from scholars. This paper presents a method to measure the energy consumption of jobs that run on Hadoop, and this method is used to measure the effectiveness of the implementation of periodic tasks on the platform of Hadoop. Combining with the current mainstream of energy estimate formula to conduct further analysis, this paper has reached a conclusion as how to reduce energy consumption of Hadoop by adjusting the split size or using appropriate size of workers (servers). Finally, experiments show the effectiveness of these methods as being energy-saving strategies and verify the feasibility of the methods for the measurement of periodic tasks at the same time.

Air pollution is an environmental problem that is familiar to residents of absolutely all corners of the earth. It is especially acutely felt by residents of cities where enterprises of ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy, energy, chemical, petrochemical, construction, pulp and paper industries operate. In some cities, the atmosphere is also severely poisoned by vehicles and boiler houses. These are all examples of anthropogenic air pollution. The subject of the study is the emissions of carbon dioxide into the environment. The purpose of the study is to solve the problem of environmental pollution by harmful substances and preserve the ecology in the world. Methodology. The main indicators characterizing the impact on the environment - CO2 emissions in the global energy sector - have been systematized; two indicators have been identified that determine the level of atmospheric pollution. Results - the scale of the influence of atmospheric air pollution on human health and the entire ecosystem as a whole was revealed.

The status quo of China's construction industry, high energy consumption, paper use energy-saving technologies in the field of construction works to expand the analysis, discusses the necessity of the construction industry currently uses energy-saving insulation materials and analyzes the current energy field of construction engineering technology application status, on the basis of focus on the application of energy-saving insulation materials in construction, particularly in the new system and the new glass curtain wall insulation material in construction applications, which further enhance the energy-saving technology within the field of construction engineering the application level has a certain reference.</p>

As a global environmental problem, plastic pollution has attracted worldwide attention. Plastic wastes not only disrupt ecosystems and biodiversity, but they also threaten human life and health. Countries around the world have enacted regulations in recent years to limit the use of plastics. Paper products have been proposed as promising substitutes for plastics, which undoubtedly brings unprecedented opportunities to the pulp and paper industry. However, paper products have some deficiencies in replacing certain plastic products. Research and development to improve paper properties and reduce production costs is needed to meet such challenges.

In the disposition of energetically economic houses, automobile abandons its stereotype held for so many years according to which it was placed to rest “under one roof” with other residential and utility rooms. However, this diagram shows a range of collisions manifesting with difficult building details, with occurrence of thermal bridges and thermal relations. This results in increased financial demands for drafting efficient thermal insulation layers or higher demand for energy consumption necessary to heat up the building. Generally, architects and structural engineers are not sufficiently aware of the fact that at the same time this is a factor that provides higher potential for faster ageing of car bodies and chassis when cars are parked “inside the house” than in means of transport parked in open carports or in an open space. This Paper deals with analyses of this important, yet often omitted or less-known fact.

PurposeThis research paper aims at proposing a framework based on semantic integration in Big Data for saving energy in smart cities. The presented approach highlights the potential opportunities offered by Big Data and ontologies to reduce energy consumption in smart cities.Design/methodology/approachThis study provides an overview of semantics in Big Data and reviews various works that investigate energy saving in smart homes and cities. To reach this end, we propose an efficient architecture based on the cooperation between ontology, Big Data, and Multi-Agent Systems. Furthermore, the proposed approach shows the strength of these technologies to reduce energy consumption in smart cities.FindingsThrough this research, we seek to clarify and explain both the role of Multi-Agent System and ontology paradigms to improve systems interoperability. Indeed, it is useful to develop the proposed architecture based on Big Data. This study highlights the opportunities offered when they are combined together to provide a reliable system for saving energy in smart cities.Practical implicationsThe significant advancement of contemporary applications (smart cities, social networks, health care, IoT, etc.) requires a vast emergence of Big Data and semantics technologies in these fields. The obtained results provide an improved vision of energy-saving and environmental protection while keeping the inhabitants’ comfort.Originality/valueThis work is an efficient contribution that provides more comprehensive solutions to ontology integration in the Big Data environment. We have used all available data to reduce energy consumption, promote the change of inhabitant’s behavior, offer the required comfort, and implement an effective long-term energy policy in a smart and sustainable environment.

City highway tunnel ventilation design is one of the key processes in whole tunnel design. The ventilation design has important influence in ventilation sanitation effect, equipment investment, operations energy consumption and operations cost. On the premise of safety and sanitation, if city tunnel adopts natural ventilation, this can reduce energy consumption, construction cost and operations cost. Combining practical conditions of a project, this paper evaluated three kinds of mechanical ventilation, and analyzed contrastively economic efficiency of the natural ventilation and the jet longitudinal ventilation. At last drew the conclusion that the natural ventilation can reduce the total investment by 30% and has obvious energy-saving efficiency, then put forward the pertinent suggestions to the ventilation construction of highway tunnel.
