Sound recording and related audio communication tools are complex and ambiguous phenomena, the potential of which was revealed and implemented gradually, as technology improves and new performing practices are consolidated. Sound recording has become a determining factor in the development of musical culture in the XXth century, creating new forms of musical being, changing the principles of musical communication and distribution of roles in the musical hierarchy. In the field of piano art, recording led to the emergence of "virtual" forms of piano performance and post-production practices, gave a new aesthetic quality to piano art, revived the figure of composer-performer, and raised the value of a pianist-interpreter to a new level. The tradition to consider the evolution of art in the context of scientific and technological progress appeared in the 1970s. Nowadays in musicology, the aesthetic significance of recording for piano art remains undefined, there are no large generalizing studies on this issue. Recording has caused fundamental changes in the social life of music and musical performance, the transformation of the traditional musical communication system — these processes are currently most studied. The issues of musical communication are covered in the works of E. Dukov, E. Nazaikinsky, I. Orlova, A. Sokhor, A. Yakupov. Books by N. Lebrecht, Yu. Strakovich, A. Karabanova, T. Kuzub, Yu. Streglov are devoted to the problems of functioning of musical art and their historical origin. A considerable part of G. Gould's journalism is focused on prospects of sound recording. According to Gould, the participation of the performer-interpreter in the process of sound engineering brings his work closer to the composer, allowing "to establish a contact with a work, which is very similar to the composer's own attitude to it". Sound recording becomes the reason for transformation of the traditional system of "composer — performer — listener" musical communication, historically associated with the functioning of concert halls and the composer's priority role. Researchers note the complication of the communicative chain due to the inclusion of the figure of the sound engineer (Yu. Kapustin, I. Orlova). Feedback of listeners and the performer becomes mediated, it is carried out through other channels — public opinion, press (Yu. Kapustin), the figure of a musicologist critic (A. Yakupov, Yu. Streglov). The authors begin to consider sound recording as a new form of musical existence, different from concert practice, which develops its own means of expression, forms its own listener, creates its own performing personnel. In modern research, recording as a component of innovative progress achievements is included in the periodization of information technologies. Sound recording, being a means of documentary communication, creates a new quality of fixation of a work of art in the actual form of performing interpretation, post-production practices expand the aesthetic experience of the performer and listeners. In the modern musical landscape, sound recording becomes a product of joint work of a performer and sound engineer, art manager, music producer, while the role of the performer is "virtualized".

Based on historical and theoretical analysis of the development of social functioning of musical communication, as well as some problems of its management, the author attempts to theoretically justify the ways and means of optimizing music and communication processes that contribute to enhance the social and cultural role of musical art. The article describes fundamental concepts, which should be taken as the basis for the organization of musical life in modern society. The author puts forward such a conceptual theoretical statement as the principle of multi-factor audience differentiation. Consequently, the paper considers important facets of the theory of musical communication management in society, namely the target programming, scientific forecasting and long-term planning. The ways and methods of implementing these principles aimed at the achievement of a certain level of control over the music communication processes in society are also considered. Special attention is paid to the analysis of the impact of current social and economic changes in Russia on the formation of marketing and management in the social life of musical art.

Several scholars have focused on the different approaches in designing convivial urban spaces, but literary evidence shows that the essence of aesthetic design in public urban spaces, by referring to the main dimensions involved in the shaping of urban vitality, has not been adequately researched. In this regard, this study, by hypothesizing that the quality of urban design leads to a vital urban environment, focuses on urban vitality from the aesthetic point of view. Thus, in using qualitative grounded theory as a main methodological tool and using a systematic review of the related literature as the main induction approach for collecting qualitative data, five main dimensions of urban vitality, which are necessary to attain a correlation with the aesthetic quality of urban design, were conceptualized. The study concludes that the aesthetic design of an urban setting has a direct effect on the active involvement of its users and that this, therefore, has a direct consequence on the level of public urban vitality, manifested. Integrating the complexity theory with the five main dimensions used for assessing urban vitality was suggested as a viable area for further research.

The mid-nineteenth century critical discourse compartmentalized art and industry by crediting each with specific powers. Manufacturing was identified with the development of technologically advanced processes, materials and products, while fine artists were given authority over the aesthetic aspects of industrial design. The idea that the two sectors had separate areas of responsibility has proved extremely enduring, and continues to influence our perceptions of Victorian manufacturing. This article contributes to the wider task of re-evaluating the relationship between art and industry in nineteenth-century Britain by examining the role of design in potteries and art metalworking firms from the manufacturer’s perspective. It shows that contrary to the picture painted by Victorian critics, design was central to the ambitions and commercial operations of manufacturing businesses. Crucially, decisions about the recruitment of design staff were shaped by the close connection between the creation of new products at the drawing board, and their fabrication in the workshop. Since each branch of manufacturing had its distinctive characteristics, there were significant practical, aesthetic and commercial advantages for manufacturers in employing experienced designers who knew the trade, and were fully conversant with production practices. Unless a professional sculptor joined a firm, they were unlikely to have this inside knowledge, which made commissioning one-off designs from artists a riskier proposition. Manufacturers found that one of the best ways to get around this was to make reductions of sculptures, and initial demand for statuettes in Parian suggested they would be profitable for all concerned. In the end, the market did not live up to its early promise, but the publicity given to Parian statuettes compensated manufacturers and sculptors. Overall, it was this increased public exposure for art manufactures that was the prime benefit of the mid-nineteenth century critical discourse for the industrial sector.

This paper emphasizes the place and the role of the aesthetic quality and the role of the erotic in Levinas?s project that deals with ethical an-archaeology. Despite Levinas?s categorical statements that there are irreconcilable differences between ethics and aesthetics, i.e. between ethics and the erotic, above all, it is emphasized here that these differences do not represent a stark or sharp contrast, but quite contrary, they often constitute a subversive ontological element. On the other hand, somewhat unexpectedly, with its ethical anti-aestheticism Levinas?s ?noncontemporary? thought appears to be, at the same time, both significant and critical, elementary, emancipatory and contemporary in relation to present-day reactionary reactualization and revitalization of the aesthetic quality which mechanically proceeds to develop on the margins of Levinas?s emancipatory past.

Trees in the landscape have many important roles; one of them is aesthetics function. Therefore, tree species selection must be considered well. Indonesia has big number of tree biodiversity that can use for tree selection purposes. The selection can be considered based on physical characteristics and ecological characteristics of the tree species. Therefore, purposes of this study are 1) to identify ecological distribution of native tree species in Java island, 2) to identify native tree species which have high aesthetic value, and 3) to arrange native tree species list that have potential to be developed for aesthetic use in the landscape. This study conducted in Cibodas Botanical Garden. The method used for this research is literature study from Botanical Garden Catalogue, direct survey method, aesthetic analyze using Key Performance Index for aesthetic quality assessment. The results of this research is there are 223 Java Island native tree species collection in Cibodas Botanical Garden. The habitat of these collections of tree species is evenly distributed throughout the island of Java. Most can grow well in tropical zones (0-1000 masl) and tropical-mountain zones (0-2400 masl). Based on the aesthetic criteria assessment there are 50 species belonging to the good category, 101 species are included in the moderate category, and only one species is categorized as bad.

This study assesses changing aesthetic values and their characteristics in urban environments based on human perception. With this in mind, a model for assessing the aesthetic values of the urban environment based on the three steps of human cognition has been developed to elaborate the user's perception in different urban environments. The results of the survey confirm that by changing urban morphology the aesthetic perception of the environment also changes. The finding of this research opens up a new window for urban planners to assess the aesthetic effects of the elements of urban spatial configuration for future urban development.

The article presents selected methodological assumptions of developing and evaluating landscape attribute maps that could be used in the process of the implementation of the European Landscape Convention (ELC). The Convention led to the passing of the Act of 24th April 2015 on the modification of some acts due to the enhancement of landscape protection tools. Article 7 implements changes in the Act of 23rd March 2003 on spatial planning and land use management. Determining general rules for landscape auditing and defining the priority landscape are elements of the changes. On 11th September 2015, the regulations that partially carry out the recommendation of the Convention entered into force. The regulations oblige local governments to conduct landscape auditing (not less often than every 20 years). The article presents a new method for evaluating the aesthetic-scenic value of landscape (EEVL), developed by the author on the basis of conceptual works done between 2004 and 2008. Tests of this method started in 2008. Then an assessment of the aesthetic value of the municipality of Pozezdrze in the Masurian Lake District was made. The three measurements, collected in 2008, 2012 and 2016, were then used in comparing the dynamics of landscape transformations considering the aesthetic value over 8 years. The research enabled the assessment of the usefulness of the method in landscape auditing.
