The article is aimed at introduction of the up-to-date approaches to the economic assessment of ecosystems and their implementation while determining the priority tasks of the territorial communities development. The necessity is substantiated of the ecosystems economic assessment for determining the priority tasks of the territory development taking into account the ecosystem approach. It is emphasized that the achievement of the goals of sustainable spatial development at the local level is ensured via full mobilization of all types of local resources, in particular by taking into account the value of ecosystem assets and ecosystem services produced by them in the interests of local communities. The necessity of forming an integrated strategic approach to the introduction of ecosystem asset valuation at the local level is substantiated. The ecosystem assets of territorial communities are proved to be a continuous flow of the community ecosystem resources produced as a result of the system of functionally interconnected components of the natural environment involved in economic circulation, the use of which will contribute to economic benefits. It is shown that the economic assessment of ecosystem assets at the local level makes it possible to assess both the market value and value of ecosystems from direct and indirect use, and to identify real prospects for possible financial revenues to the community budget from their operation. Differentiated are economic approaches to estimate the ecosystem benefits at the local level. The structure and tasks of payments for the biodiversity conservation at the level of territorial communities are studied. The structural scheme of information support for estimating the ecosystem assets values of territorial communities is proposed The tasks of local authorities as to the community ecosystems management are outlined and the stages of assessment of ecosystem assets of the territorial entities are defined. The targets for application of the results of assessment of ecosystem assets of territorial communities have been determined. It is shown that the introduction of an ecosystem approach in the management of communities will contribute to the financial content of local budgets.

Scientific approaches to the formalization of valuations of ecosystem assets on the example of water resources are studied. The peculiarities of application of methods, approaches and directions of economic assessment to water as an ecosystem asset are revealed, key directions of practical application of results of economic assessment of ecosystem assets related to water in the system of nature management of territorial communities are determined. An algorithm for formalizing the valuation of water-related ecosystem assets from the following five blocks is proposed: the first involves consideration of the essence and differentiated components of water-related ecosystem assets from the standpoint of the ecosystem approach; the second defines the methodology for identifying a set of ecosystem services that can be provided by identified ecosystem assets within spatial formations; the third is focused on the study of integration processes related to the study of the combinatorics of ecosystem services and system interaction of spaces; fourth - provides a rationale for the model of reproduction of ecosystem assets related to water in a formal form with the prospect of parameterization of their components; The fifth block concerns the identification of methods used for their cost measurement and the solution of financial and economic settlement issues and the definition of innovative ways of sustainable spatial development of united territorial communities. Further research has prospects in the following areas: formation of a comprehensive strategic approach to formalizing the value measurement of water-related ecosystem assets; and development and introduction of effective methodological approaches to the assessment of ecosystem assets for the formation of investment attractiveness of the territory through the use of local natural resources, including water, as a powerful potential for sustainable spatial development at the local level.

The purpose of the article is to substantiate the theoretical and methodological approach to determining the key characteristics of the assessment of ecosystem assets of territorial communities related to water. The study considers the theoretical and methodological principles of assessing ecosystem assets for sustainable development of local communities. The initial methodological approaches of the accumulated world experience on the assessment of ecosystem services and ecosystem assets of local level territories in the context of three components (ecological, economic and social) in the context of water-related ecosystems are specified. An algorithm for estimating ecosystem assets is proposed. The key guidelines for assessing the ecosystem assets of territorial spatial entities based on European experience are revealed. The list of scientific recommendations for the assessment of water-related ecosystem assets to enhance the capacity of local communities and preserve and restore ecosystems is substantiated. The novelty of the study lies in the proposals for the implementation in Ukrainian practice of general approaches to the methodology of assessment of ecosystem assets and services, according to the recommendations of the international project of the European Commission “The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity” (TEEB). The key Euro-benchmarks proposed by the author for the assessment of water-related ecosystem assets will help increase the investment attractiveness of spatial territorial formations and create preconditions for the development of a new economy on an ecosystem basis. Further research has prospects in the following areas: formation of a comprehensive strategic approach to the introduction of ecosystem asset valuation at the local level; development and introduction of effective methodological approaches to the assessment of ecosystem assets for the formation of investment attractiveness of the territory through the use of local natural resources, including water, as ecosystem assets of sustainable spatial development.

The process of improving the mechanisms of environmental policy at the local level to ensure the sustainable development of territorial communities requires the use of new tools. Among them the ecosystem assessment of losses from negative consequences of management is relevant. The purpose of the article is development of the methodical approaches as to the ecosystem assessment of the losses resulting from the negative consequences of the local management. Considered are the main principal bases of the ecosystem approach concept. It is ascertained that the ecosystem approach to analysis of the losses from negative consequences of the local management demands formation of their assessment effective mechanisms since basing on the ecosystem losses economic assessment it is possible to take into account both the ecosystem market value and to ascertain actual situation as to the financial income from its use. The structure is proposed of the ecosystem assessment of the losses from the negative local management that defines the process trends and components aimed at analysis of the territory investment attractiveness. Classification is developed of the methodological approaches to the ecosystem determination of the caused and prevented losses from negative consequences of the local management. An analysis is made of the approaches in terms of the advantages and problems of utilization which is essential for the territory ecosystem management and economic regulation of the balanced nature management. It is ascertained that ecosystem assessment of the losses from management negative consequences is an integral characteristics of the disordered local management to be taken into account while developing the appropriate compensation mechanisms for local budget restocking under management system decetralization. From this viewpoint, important is further development and implementation of the effective methodical approaches to asssessment of the losses from management negative consequences as to creation of the territory investment attractiveness at the expense of using the local nature resources as environmental assets of sustainable space development.

The article identifies specific features and suggests areas for improving the corporate culture of media enterprises. Dynamic changes in the economy due to digitalization require a revision of existing organizational forms and methods of management and the formation of a qualitatively new corporate culture at all hierarchical levels. The difficulty of solving this problem is the need to eliminate the negative elements in the Ukrainian corporate culture while adapting the development strategies of organizations to new economic conditions. The specifics of the formation of corporate culture of the media company is its special role, which is to implement the information product in order to obtain economic benefits and meet the social and communication needs of different segments of society. The article proposes changes in the organizational structure of media companies by creating a department for internal corporate communications in order to form a corporate culture that can increase the competitiveness of the company and form its positive image in the media space. This will form a highquality information support for internal communication of the enterprise, increase employee motivation and effectiveness of control over their work. The formation of a qualitatively new corporate culture of media enterprises also involves the transformation of the management system taking into account the need to focus on the use of creative work, increasing the level of knowledge, digital competencies, skills and professionalism, observance of system values of society. Ultimately, the formation of an effective corporate culture will have a positive impact on the process of creating quality information products

The Canadian Government has introduced a work-sharing program in which lay offs are avoided by reducing the work week and using unemployment insurance funds to pay workers short-time compensation. Compared to the lay-off alternative, there appear to be economic benefits to work-sharing for both management and employees. Reaction to the scheme has been generally positive at the union local level and the firm level, but it has been negative at the national level of both labour and management. These divergent views can be explained mainly as a result of short-run versus long-run perspectives. Managers at the firm level see the immediate benefit of improved labour relations and the avoidance of the costs of hiring and training replacements for laid-off workers who do not respond when recalled. The national business leaders are more concerned with work incentive and efficiency aspects of work-sharing.

Abstract The urban conglomeration has accentuated the role of urban greenery as a determinant factor for sustainable living, especially in highly dense cities. The country of Singapore has consistently attempted to develop and rehabilitate urban greenery by attempting to align the green space policy with the pursuit of better life quality. In this study, we assess the benefits arising from the rehabilitated Bishan-Ang Mo Kio (AMK) Park in north Singapore and the effects on economic welfare. The Bishan-AMK Park was initially constructed in the late 70 s as a drainage area for the avoidance of flooding incidents. In 2012, a pilot project was introduced to create a blue-green infrastructure (BGI) space for the provision of drainage and flood prevention but also for recreational and environmental improvement in the area. Yet, the benefits emerging from BGI are not well explored and still underestimated. To this extent, we evaluate selected services related to recreational, socio-cultural and tourism-related values by indicating the economic benefits from the introduction of BGI in condensed urban environments like Singapore. The findings indicate that the benefits deriving from the selected services could be within the range of US$100 million to US$220 million with a mean value of US$160 million per year by substantially contributing to human well-being. The assessment of environmental services can raise the awareness of residents and local authorities on the contribution of urban greenery to livelihoods and economic development in Singapore and similar densely populated areas.

The basis of information support in the field of economic relations is an accounting system adequate to modern needs. However, such an accounting system as the basis of information support and accounting as one of the functions of management does not create sufficient prerequisites to ensure the effectiveness of the management process, including transaction cost management. Motivation in the process of managing transaction costs involves the use of moral and material incentives for employees of the entity, namely monetary rewards, recognition of achievements, promotion, providing conditions for the manifestation of creative potential in order to prevent deviant behaviour, the consequences of which are the search for economic benefits from the resources of the business units. In addition, the function of motivation should extend to the business partners of the entity and consider their interests, goals and business reputation. The indicated information should form sufficient grounds for the motivational component of business negotiations and create conditions for obtaining the desired result. Effective transaction cost management is a prerequisite for the competitiveness of products, goods, works, services, and the business unit that produces, sells and aims to ensure a lasting plateau of financial stability. This dependence exists since transaction costs both create conditions for further growth of profits generated by the entity and can reduce it under opportunistic behaviour. Optimization of transaction costs can be achieved not only through their accounting, control, analysis, but also the performance of other management functions, the list of which, as evidenced by the study of recent publications, is not definitively defined. This paper proves that transaction cost management is a mandatory component of the dynamic management process of the entity, which should be harmonized with the overall management process and meet its main goal – to achieve high economic performance

This research addressed two questions: “Are roundabouts on rural high-speed roadways safer than two-way stop controlled (TWSC) intersections?” and “What economic benefits can be expected from converting TWSC intersections to roundabouts in terms of safety improvement?” Crash and traffic data on four TWSC intersections that were converted to roundabouts in Kansas were analyzed using the empirical Bayes before-after evaluation method and crash costs were applied to evaluate economic benefits. Analysis showed that fatal, non-fatal, and property-damage-only crashes were reduced by 100%, 76.47%, and 35.49%, respectively. The annual monetary value from this reduction was between $1.0—$1.6 million in 2014 dollars.

AbstractPurpose: This study aimed to explore the patient’s experience of the radiotherapy pathway with a view to improving patient-centred services. Methods: Women’s views about the radiotherapy pathway were gathered through a focus group. Focus groups have been used extensively in qualitative research to gather rich meaningful data. A thematic analysis of the transcript identified areas of importance for the women, which could be used to direct service improvement. Results: Five main themes emerged: information, communication and support, dignity and individualised care, service accessibility and staff relationships. Generally, staff were viewed as professionals and the radiotherapy service well run although women did identify several unmet needs during radiotherapy. Lack of information and perceived time constraints of busy staff was revealed. However women did feel treated with dignity, respect and as individuals. ‘End-of-treatment’ was a particular focus; women felt dedicated time with staff would enable discussion, information giving and support around this vulnerable time. In addition, women felt that communication barriers and time constraints influenced the information and support they experienced during radiotherapy. Conclusion: The use of a focus group enabled service users to identify clear areas for improvement at a local level. Priorities include information, communication and support and the ‘end-of-treatment’.
