We analyze, in particular, the implicationsof the Institutional Program of Teaching Initiation Scholarship (Pibid) for teacher training. To do this, we performeda literature review and analysis of laws such as the Constitution of the Federative Republic of Brazil; LDB (BrazilianEducation Basic Tenets Law) 9.394/1996; Law 10.172/2001; Education Development Plan (PDE)/2007; Decree-law6.094/2007; Articulated Actions Plan/2007 and Pibid, as well as the theoretical bases of Freitas (2002); Imbernón(2004); Saviani (2008, 2009, 2010) e Sheibe (2002). It was found that the laws regulating the training of teachers inBrazil express processes of change and discontinuity, the Pibid is an public policy understood as a way of teacherappreciation and initiative for an education inicial and continuing; however, critical analysis is essential to the qualityof actions, mainly the educational actions. Therefore, it is important to assess carefully the Pibid as a whole and itsarticulation with the enhancement of the educational professionals, and propose new directions for basic education. Keywords: Pibid. The way environmental education has been presented as a viable response to the emergence of national, regional, and global environmental problems since the 1970s is reviewed; as well as some environmental education presuppositions, approaches, and aims with which a field of knowledge and educational practices have been constituted and provided to the individual, to help re-evaluate and redefine the established forms of relationship and exchange with society and nature. Also, the concepts of education and environmental education are examined as they are considered the starting point for undertaking teacher education processes and the potential to generate a new environmental culture in society. At the same time, certain inconsistencies in this process are observed, along with the analysis of some distinctive features (knowledge, attitudes, abilities, and skills) a teacher who is trained in the field of environmental education must possess. General reflections on environmental education teacher training and its processes which are meant to increase debate and discussion on the subject are included, together with the description of some educational experiences developed in different areas and levels that aim to innovate in the reflection and practice of environmental education. Finally, some clues are given to help the design and development of training proposals for environmental education teachers with a greater social, scientific, critical, and humanistic projection.

The analysis of the development of the electrospark method of applying coatings on conductive materials — electrospark doping (ESA) is presented. Three stages of the development of this method are considered: the first (1943—1961) — the creation and establishment of the ESA method, which is connected with the direct activity of the founders of the spark discharge of the spouses B.R. Lazarenko and N.I. Lazarenko; the second (1961— 1991) — the sustainable development of the ESA method; the third (1991—to the present) — the uncontrolled and unsustainable development of the ESA method. In Soviet times, the ESA method was most successfully developed by research centers of Moldova and Ukraine. The possibility of creating such ESA centers in Russia was not considered, although there are some laboratories and scientific community, who continue to work towards the research and application of the ESA method.

Palavras-chave: Imagem; Fotografia; Sebastião Salgado; Exploração Geográfica   Abstract This article develops around the relevance of photographic images in imaginative geographies in the construction and production of a strong feeling of otherness and nationality. Critics have argued that Elizabeth Gaskell's first novel, Mary Barton (1848), is split by a conflict between the modes of realism and romance. But the conflict does not render the novel incoherent, because Gaskell surpasses both modes through a utopian narrative that breaks with the conflict of form and gives coherence to the whole novel. Gaskell not only depicts what Thomas Carlyle called the ‘Condition of England’ in her work but also develops, through three stages, the utopia that will redeem this condition. The first stage is romantic nostalgia, a backward glance at Eden from the countryside surrounding Manchester. The second stage occurs in Manchester, as Gaskell mixes romance with a realistic mode, tracing a utopian drive toward death. The third stage is the utopian break with romantic and realistic accounts of the Condition of England and with the inadequate preceding conceptions of utopia. This third stage transforms narrative modes and figures a new mode of production.
