The facts of the occurrence of emergency and catastrophic conditions of the port infrastructure during the loading (unloading) of explosives indicate the existence of a problem associated with the construction of a security system for cargo operations and their storage locations. Incorrectly chosen: location, technical support and organization of loading of explosives, under certain conditions, become the causes of catastrophic situations of different levels of danger. When modeling situations, the use of the large particle method and the theory of a point explosion under the impact of a shock wave on port infrastructure facilities is considered. The mathematical model of the method consists in the separation by physical processes of the initial non-stationary system of Euler equations, written in the form of conservation laws. The calculation process consists of multiple iterations, each of which contains three stages. The basis for the development of the program is the need for computer modeling of the process of the occurrence and development of a shock wave in a complex terrain caused by the detonation of a charge of a condensed explosive. The author believes that such an approach will significantly improve the speed and quality of the safety assessment of the selected system of loading (unloading) of explosive and explosive substances, the potential risks of various catastrophic conditions, and the forecast of their development scenario.

The construction of two or three impounding dams in the remaining freely flowing reach (73 km) of the Danube is under discussion. The purpose of these impoundments is to guarantee a minimum navigable depth of 3 m needed for modern cargo ships and to produce electric power. The impact of these developments is discussed on the basis of experience with similar impoundments further upstream and of the results from water quality model calculations. The mathematical model used is of the deterministic type, calculating the growth of slowly-growing organisms (nitrifying bacteria, algae and zooplanktons) according to MONOD and MICHAELIS-MENTEN. Compared with impoundments on other German rivers or the Iron Gate impoundments on the Danube, the effect of the impoundments under discussion on water quality parameters is likely to be fairly small, reflecting the slight changes in morphology which would be necessary for attaining the water depth required. Therefore, the more important effects of these developments would be the changes in the ecologic situation at the river bed and near the banks of the river.

The cycle of formal employment during 2020, following the Covid-19 pandemic, is analyzed in three stages: paralysis with destruction, interrupted recovery, and relapse. Likewise, using data from the Mexican Social Security Institute on monthly changes to the numbers of insured workers, it was possible to identify the impact of govern-ment management, and trace the history of infection provoked by the disease, in lost or gained employment at each stage. Changes to the numbers of those in employment are illustrated by the economic sector, state, size of economic unit, salary range, sex and age group of the workers. The highest rate of unemployment was in tourism and recre-ational services, the most populous states with dense metropolitan areas, medium and large economic units, among young workers, the very young and those over 60 years old, and those with the worst wages. It is estimated that it will take at least until 2022 for the quality of work to recover and the accumulated deficit to be restored

To study the effect of a strong underwater shock wave on a concrete dam, in this research the hammers impact were applied to simulate the underwater shock in a model test. The model scale was 200 according to the gravity-elasticity similitude law. Five acceleration sensors were imbedded along the downstream surface of the dam. The maximum input pressure was evaluated based on the recorded accelerations. The explosive charge and the distance between the explosion center and the dam were determined corresponding to the maximum impact pressure. After the hammers impacted, the upstream face of the dam was fractured and downstream was scabbed; some cracks extended from the upstream face to the downstream face; the head of dam was projected; and the dam appeared entirely displacement. Although the damage similarity of the model and prototype is not verified, this method may be used to verify the quality of a protection project and offered evidence to define a protection project.

Perioperative nurses are involved in the care of surgery patients, in a highly stressful environment with various risks. Unrealistic schedules and long working hours standing, and working shifts, make them more vulnerable to potential risks. Their health is affected by the quality of the work environment. Problems that may arise from the highly stressful work involve chronic stress, burnout, dissatisfaction, obesity and sleeping disorders. Nutritional problems result from the lack of time between shifts for food preparation, the extended time without food or liquid, reduced hydration, the irregular hours and times to eat, the less substantial meals and more caloric snacks. Mediterranean diet is a scientifically proven healthy diet, indicated for fighting obesity, heart disease and cancer. The consumption of fruit, vegetables, grains, nuts, and olive oil in the framework of Mediterranean diet which is rich in beneficial nutrients, could significantly improve perioperative nurses’ quality life, and their eating habits.

PurposeThe authors empirically examine the impact of the stand-alone risk committee on corporate risk-taking and firm value.Design/methodology/approachThe authors argue that the existence of a stand-alone risk committee enhances the quality of corporate governance, which reduces corporate risk-taking and strengthens the firm value that might improve investor protection.FindingsThe authors find corporate risk-taking decline significantly for firms that have a stand-alone risk committee compared with firms that have a joint audit and risk committee. The authors also find that the presence of a stand-alone risk committee is positively associated with firm value.Practical implicationsThe evidence is consistent with the proposition that firms with a stand-alone risk committee can effectively evaluate potential risks and implement a proper risk management system.Originality/valueThis is the first paper that investigates the association between the existence of a stand-alone risk committee and firm risk-taking in a multi-industry setting. Also, our research extends the association between a stand-alone risk committee and firm value.

PurposeThe paper aims to present the results of a study aimed at constructing economic and mathematical models used in decision-making in the management of budget procurement of a region, contributing to the efficient use of budget funds. One of the key problems in this area is the assessment of the quality of procurementDesign/methodology/approachOne of the key problems in this area is the assessment of the quality of procurement, the solution of which requires the application of economic and mathematical methods, models, tools and algorithms built into information systems for supporting decision-making. The introduction of these systems brings to a qualitatively new level the system of relations between subjects of budget procurement. The paper analyzes modern publications on the implementation of public procurement and related issues of efficiency (savings) of budgetary funds.FindingsThe indicators on the basis of which the evaluation of the quality of regional procurement is determined are proposed. The architecture of the information system for decision support in the evaluation of procurement quality has been developed. The system has the property of adapting to changes in the state of the environment through the constant accumulation of statistical data characterizing the procurement and adjustment of the parameters of the mathematical model in accordance with them. A mathematical model is built into the control loop that allows ranking the indicators of budget purchases by the degree of their influence on the effective attribute. The role of a functional feature is the quality of budget procurement. The mathematical model is based on the application of the mathematical apparatus of correlation and regression analysis. The impact of each of the factor attributes on the functional attribute has been assessed.Originality/valueThe mathematical model is based on the application of the mathematical apparatus of correlation and regression analysis. The impact of each of the factor attributes on the functional attribute has been assessed. Real statistics are given that characterize budget procurements carried out in retrospect. The coefficients of the linear regression model are determined based on the use of the STATISTICA application software package. The proposed decision support information system with a regression model built into it allows one to make scientifically and quantitatively sound decisions when assessing the quality of budget purchases of a region.

For this study, carried out as an empirical study, 37 landlocked countries have been selected. And a broader economic impact on the national economy, on the quality of the port infrastructure and logistics efficiency has been considered as well as investments on creating a high quality port infrastructure and its contribution to the economy, often questioned by politicians, investors and general public. The Structural Equation Model (SEM) has been used for providing empirical data about a significant economic impact on the port infrastructure quality and logistics efficiency. However, some countries that do not have access to the sea are not, according to international agreements, inferior to other countries in terms of economic growth.
