Bronchiolitis, or lower airway swelling, is a common cause of pediatric hospital admissions. Parents have expressed wishes for more information regarding bronchiolitis but had difficulty finding reliable information, suggesting the need for more effective and easily accessible information resources. Knowledge translation (KT) tools like videos provide research-based information and may be conveniently disseminated to large audiences through social media. The purpose of this project was to evaluate the effectiveness of a social media campaign to promote a video on bronchiolitis. A social media campaign was conducted from 14 October to 30 November 2019. User interactions were recorded for the Facebook and Twitter accounts, website, and YouTube of Evidence in Child Health to Enhance Outcomes (ECHO), Alberta Research Centre for Health Evidence (ARCHE), and Translating Emergency Knowledge for Kids (TREKK). Baseline metrics were collected from 1 August to 30 September 2019 and post-campaign metrics were collected from 1 December 2019 to 31 March 2020. Mean monthly changes, standard deviations, and percent changes between periods were generated for the baseline, campaign, and post-campaign periods. Overall, there was a visible increase in user interactions throughout the campaign period. There was an overall downward trend in user interactions following the campaign. These findings suggest that social media may be a useful method of KT tool dissemination when consistently used. The downward trend post-campaign highlights the need for further research to investigate methods to maintain continuous interaction following a campaign.

Abstract This paper discusses the response of climate change impact on future streamflow availability in Upper Awash River basin, Ethiopia. The change of climate was built using the CORDEX, RCM daily precipitation, maximum and minimum temperature under RCP4.5 and 8.5 scenarios. The climate model was examined in the historical period 1996–2015 for its ability of capturing observed precipitation and temperature. Bias correction was performed on RCM temperature and precipitation to minimize the uncertainties that may occur from climate model projection. After the successful calibration and validation of the HBV hydrological model, streamflow was simulated for the periods of 2021–2040 and 2041–2060 and compared to streamflow of the baseline period 1996–2015 to investigate the changes. The results suggested that overall, following the precipitation increment, streamflow is expected to increase under both RCPs. The average monthly changes of streamflow are expected to increase by 40.1 and 29.4% under RCP4.5 and 16.9 and 18.5% under RCP8.5 scenarios for 2021–2040 and 2041–2060, respectively. Annual streamflow would increase by 28.5 and 23.95% under RCP4.5 and 8.5 respectively. The results of this work can help and inform the water resources planner and designer to frame an appropriate plan and management for the effective use of water in the future.

The cycle of formal employment during 2020, following the Covid-19 pandemic, is analyzed in three stages: paralysis with destruction, interrupted recovery, and relapse. Likewise, using data from the Mexican Social Security Institute on monthly changes to the numbers of insured workers, it was possible to identify the impact of govern-ment management, and trace the history of infection provoked by the disease, in lost or gained employment at each stage. Changes to the numbers of those in employment are illustrated by the economic sector, state, size of economic unit, salary range, sex and age group of the workers. The highest rate of unemployment was in tourism and recre-ational services, the most populous states with dense metropolitan areas, medium and large economic units, among young workers, the very young and those over 60 years old, and those with the worst wages. It is estimated that it will take at least until 2022 for the quality of work to recover and the accumulated deficit to be restored

The study aims to investigate the monthly changes in the prices of culture fish that were sold in retail fish outlets in Sinop in 2019 and determine the correlations between the prices of the species. The retail outlets were determined using stratified sampling and divided into three groups as I (high), II (medium), and III (low) with respect to their product range and sale amounts. Each sale group was represented by two independent retail outlets. The prices were determined twice a month at the same time of the day during the study. The retail outlets were determined to sell sea bream (Sparus aurata), sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax), and rainbow trout (Oncorhyncus mykiss) culturing of which are carried out in Turkey. The difference in the monthly prices of the species was not statistically significant. There was a positive and moderate relationship between the prices of sea bream and sea bass (r=0.69), a positive and strong relationship between the prices of sea bass and trout (r=0.85), and a positive and strong relationship between the prices of sea bream and trout (r=0.71).

In the present study, we report a new sub-lineage of the SARS-CoV-2 Delta variant called AY.29, which has C5239T and T5514C mutations. We investigated the monthly trend of AY.29 in Japan within 11,954 Delta variants downloaded on September 3, 2021. Among the total Japanese Delta variants, the AY.29 sub-lineage accounted for 88.4%. In terms of monthly changes, the sequences became predominant in June, and accounted for 93.2% and 94.2% of the reported sequences in July and August, respectively. Furthermore, the number of Delta variants imported from abroad during the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and Paralympics (held in August 2021) was extremely low. Therefore, the epidemic of the new Delta variant is attributable to a newly occurring mutation in Japan.

Abstract Purpose To study the effect of anti-VEGF therapy for diabetic macular edema (DME) on retinal oxygen saturation (O2S) and its correlation with functional and anatomical changes of retinal tissue. Methods An interventional prospective single group study. Included were 10 eyes of 10 patients with visually significant DME which received a fixed regimen of intravitreal aflibercept every 4 weeks for 5 months, followed by 3 injections every 8 weeks, and were controlled monthly. Visual acuity (VA), central retinal thickness (CRT), arterial (aO2S), venous (vO2S) and arterio-venous difference (AVdO2S) retinal oxygen saturation were noted monthly. Changes after 5th (V6) injection and on last follow-up (V12) were studied. Correlations of different parameters were analyzed. Results The aO2S did not change whereas vO2S decreased (62.2 ± 9.4 pre-op to 57.2 ± 10.5 on V6, p = 0.03). This remained unchanged at 59.4 ± 13.2 on V12 (p = 0.2) and was accompanied by an increase of AVdO2S (40.8 ± 8.3 pre-op to 44.8 ± 10.6, p = 0.03 on V6) which was followed by a non-significant decrease to 41.8 ± 11.3 on V12 (p = 0.06). We found no correlation between BCVA and aO2S. However, mild correlation between BCVA and both vO2S and AVdO2S (r = −0.2 p = 0.035 and r = 0.185 p = 0.05 respectively) was found. No correlation was found between CRT and aO2S, vO2S, or AVdO2S. Conclusions During DME treatment with fixed regimen of intravitreal aflibercept over 11 months, we observed a reduction of vO2S and increase of AVdO2S which correlated with BCVA but not CRT. This could be explained by increasing consumption of O2S in the central retina and, possibly, by re-perfusion process.

The national measures in several European countries during the COVID-19 pandemic also affected offshore human activities, including shipping. In this work, the temporal and spatial variations of shipping sound are calculated for the years before and during the pandemic in selected shallow water test areas from the Southern North Sea and the Adriatic Sea. First, the monthly sound pressure level maps of ships and wind between 2017 and 2020 are calculated for frequencies between 100 Hz to 10 kHz. Next, the monthly changes in these maps are compared. The asymptotic approximation of the hybrid flux-mode propagation model reduces the computational requirements for sound mapping simulations and facilitates the production of a large number of sound maps for different months, depths, frequencies, and ship categories. After the strictest COVID-19 measures were applied in April 2020, the largest decline was observed for the fishing, passenger and recreational ships. Although the changes in the number of fishing vessels are large, their contribution to the soundscape is minor due to their low source level. In both test areas, the spatial exceedance levels and acoustic energies were decreased in 2020 compared to the average of the previous three years.

In dogs, the phase from mating to the end of weaning lasts about 120 days and encompasses many aspects that, interacting, contribute to increase the allostatic load. The coat and claws, useful for long-term change assessments, have the advantage of being collectable without invasiveness. In the present study, the Cortisol (C) and Dehydroepiandrosterone-sulfate (DHEA-S) concentration monthly changes in the coat and claws were studied in female dogs from mating to the end of weaning to assess Hypothalamic–Pituitary–Adrenal (HPA) axis activation during pregnancy and the post-partum period. The results from 15 Dobermann Pinscher female dogs showed a trend of increase of the coat C from mating to 60 days post-partum, with significant changes between mating and parturition-60 days post-partum (p < 0.01) and between the 30-day pregnancy diagnosis (PD) and 30–60 days post-partum (p < 0.05). The claws C trend showed significant increases between mating and 30–60 days post-partum (p < 0.05) and between the PD and 60 days post-partum (p < 0.01). DHEA-S in both matrices showed non-significant changes. The results suggest that maternity could play a pivotal role in the HPA axis activation, with a subsequent chronic secretion of C determining an increase in the allostatic load in the mothers. Neither maternal parity nor litter size played a significant role in the accumulation of C and DHEA-S in both matrices.

Accurate diagnoses of vulnerability of seawater intrusion (SWI) into aquifers are required to ensure sustainable utilization of groundwater resources in coastal areas. GALDIT was selected to assess the SWI vulnerability on western coastal areas of South Korea. Climate change trends are updated every year. The existing GALDIT method has various scores to express the changing observed values. However, they are limited because of their sensitivity in the assessment of regional characteristics or climatic change due to low weight flexibility. Therefore, this study assessed vulnerability to SWI by classifying the existing GALDIT into static and dynamic parameters. The static parameters include groundwater occurrence (G), aquifer hydraulic conductivity (A), and distance from the shore (D), whereas the dynamic parameters include height to groundwater level above sea level (L), impact of existing status of seawater intrusion (I), and aquifer thickness (T). The monthly mean was used as the dynamic index to reflect monthly variations. To indicate the temporal trend of parameter L was calculated based on the data observed at the sea level station adjacent to the groundwater level station. To sensitively reflect the monthly changes in values, the range of scores was divided into 10 parts. The calculated GALDIT index showed that the most vulnerable month was September. In the progress of SWI, vulnerability was assessed monthly to highlight the differences in parameters that fluctuate seasonally. The proposed method can be used to apply intensive countermeasures to vulnerable sites and build an operation plan considering the vulnerability period.
