AbstractThis article analyzes the work Plas Ayiti (neon project) by the Brazilian artist Milla Jung with the purpose of investigating a politics of the images. Communication has proven to be an integral component of the terrorism phenomenon. To unravel the opportunities and challenges embedded in employing the media during terrorism, this chapter draws on research findings and practical experiences around the world to identify prime actors associated with this issue and to describe their objectives, tactics, and channels of communication. It is argued here that media constitute a vital resource in the war on terror with both terrorist organizations and states harnessing communication to advance their causes in the public sphere. In this context, four categories of media users have been identified: media institutions, terrorist organizations, governments, and citizen groups. The chapter discusses enduring issues associated with each actor's use of media and calls for evolving new conceptual frameworks for understanding media use during terrorism. It concludes by arguing that while we seem to have a huge pool of research findings and practical experiences related to using the media during terrorism, we seem to have a critical shortage in how we conceptually account for the different variables that define the use of media in terrorism situations.

Abstract Information and communication technologies enable the emergence of a new phenomenon called the “sharing economy”. An increasing number of articles in the media as well as debates about the positive and negative aspects of the sharing economy show a growing interest in the subject. The paper aims to review the different approaches to the definition of the sharing economy and to present the authors’ views on the concept. The reviewed literature reveals the main drivers for participating in the sharing economy. A survey was conducted to learn more about the motives of Lithuanian people participating in this concept. The survey reveals the following leading factors of using the sharing economy platforms: an easy way to make extra money; supporting individuals and/or small/independent companies; meeting new people and having an interesting experience/doing something most people haven’t tried yet. The survey also reveals that most of the respondents prefer to own things rather than share them. Despite the widespread popularity of the sharing economy platforms in the world, this phenomenon is in its infancy in Lithuania.

This themed issue of MIA highlights the complex nature of evolving, emerging, mediated public spheres in India, a large, imperfect democracy that is home to the most diverse mediated public spheres anywhere in the world. The history of the public sphere in India has followed a trajectory that is very different from – even at odds with – the history of this sphere as described by Habermas.

The reliability test of the validation instrument shows the rcount value of 0.880 and is greater than rtable 0.339 at the number of N = 34 and a significance value of 5%. The score of the questionnaire instrument was 3,196 obtained by averaging the scores from each category. It is in the range of 2.9-3.4 with a high category so that it can be interpreted that the application can be used as a learning media of the structure and function of the molecule.

Turkey is located frequently in women's media. The representation of women in the media, which should be evaluated in many aspects such as sociological, psychological, political, economic, and legal, has been frequently the subject of academic studies. In the country and in the world, women can generally find their place in the media within the social roles assigned to them. The view of countries towards women is also shaped by the effect of cultural, economic, political, and social structures. In Eastern cultures, the woman is usually burdened with roles in need of protection, such as the woman of her home, the mother of her child, a good wife, a self-sacrificing woman who lives at home.

The article is devoted to the identification of the asymmetric basis of explication of temporal oppositions in the Russian-language media discourse. The semantic-pragmatic potential of linguistic units representing the antithesis of “past / future” and its textual explicators is established and analyzed. Given the specifics of linguistic and extralinguistic factors, the features of modeling the current political picture of the world are revealed. It is emphasized that the asymmetry of the media discourse, which has become the subject of scientific research only in the last decade, is dictated by the manipulative orientation of media texts. An analysis of practical material allows us to conclude that the media texts of the beginning of the XXI century are a priori asymmetric and are built on both communicative and linguistic asymmetries, which consist primarily in the contraposition of linguistic and contextual antonyms that reflect polar political views and aspirations. The asymmetry of images of the past and future and the ambiguity of connotations inherent in the linguistic representatives of these images allow us to talk about the variability of the value component of the key categories of the political picture of the world and prove its dynamic nature.

The subject of the article are the ways of popularizing scientific and popular science knowledge by using Twitter as a social media platform. The research corpus comprises 100 tweets which come from institutional and individual senders, including both representatives of the world of science as well as of the media that aim to popularize scientific knowledge. As a result of the medialinguistic analysis, which focused on the structural and functional plane of the studied media texts, the high representativeness of multimodal tweets was noted. Namely, language and image contextualize each other: the image allows us to fill the semantic gap resulting from the ellipticalness of the verbal layer of a given tweet. Thus, the contribution of the multimodal information design to knowledge transfer in digital discourse has been demonstrated.

One of the main problems that modern thought poses is the problem of the scientific and philosophical deepening of what we call "history", "the actions of the world", "historical". In the plane of Christian thought, it finds, on the one hand, a special position, because Christianity is realized in history, and on the other it encounters certain additional difficulties that take on forms of dilemmas: history is faith; historical knowledge - Revelation (God); history is Christianity. It requires a new approach to history, Christianity, Christian thought.

ABSTRACT It is essential to discuss the role of the media as one of the main debate forums in democratic societies. Our intention was to comprehend how the radio contributes to the understanding of the world, which is crucial to the formation of opinions concerning pertinent issues to the citizen’s duty. For this, we studied the programming guides of some of Lisbon`s and Brasilia’s radios, in 2011 and 2012, and also interviewed their directors. In addition to that, focus groups were conducted in the context of different social organizations, in order to understand the relationship between citizens and the radio.
