Consumer acceptance of a variety of products, including bread is currently a very important economic andpsychological criterion. Thus, understanding of consumer behaviour and preference should help bread manufacturersto satisfy the customers, particularly during launching new products. The study objective was toinvestigate preferences and expectations of Polish consumers concerning bread products as well as their comparisonwith manufacturers opinions. Surveys were collected using CATI method. Obtained results testifiedabout clear differentiation of consumer requirements in relation to bread. It has been shown that preferencesof bread consumers are connected with such factors as: sex, age, place of residence, employment, educationand financial situation. Diverse demands of consumers result in a wide range of bread products on the marketand a need for improving their quality and promotion of new brands.

The use of millet for the production of plant-based beverages has beneficial effects because it is healthy and gluten-free. In its raw form, millet is rich in dietary fiber and polyphenols. Millet beverages are characterized by relatively low popularity among the consumers of plant beverages. This is mainly due to the drawbacks, namely the presence of plant flavors and “millet” smell. Constant market growth requires new products to be developed in order to meet the consumers’ expectations. The acceptance of millet beverages significantly increases when these are offered in various flavors. Furthermore, the addition of apple or banana puree to millet recipes can increase their desirability. Stabilization of millet beverages is important as they have the tendency to delaminate. This can be overcome by the use of natural stabilizers such as pectin and agar-agar which seems to be an effective option for these products.

Developing new products has received much attention within the last decades. This issue can be highlighted for strategic innovations, in particular. Recently, knowledge-based networks have been introduced in order to facilitate the affair of transforming knowledge into commercial products which can be regarded as a set of research centers, universities, knowledge intermediaries, customers, and so forth. However, there is a wide range of risk factors that are liable to affect the chain performance. Hence, this paper aims to consider the most influencing criteria that can play a more significant role in achievements of such networks. To do so, DEMATEL has been applied to take the relationships between the risk factors into account. Moreover, fuzzy set theory has been utilized in order to deal with the linguistic variables. Finally, the most important factors are identified and their relations are determined.

288 Background: Non-resectable pancreatic cancer patients have a wide range of median time for overall survival (OS). Currently there is a lack of diagnostic tools to predict patient outcome at diagnosis. KRAS mutations are present in the vast majority of pancreatic tumors. The study objective was to determine if quantitative baseline and longitudinal monitoring of KRAS mutations from plasma circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) could be used to stratify patients for predicting outcome. Methods: Plasma was prospectively collected from the Danish BIOPAC study for non-resectable pancreatic cancer patients undergoing treatment with gemcitabine or FOLFIRINOX. Feasibility of monitoring ctDNA KRAS mutations was assessed in 10 patients with long OS (median 493 days; range 360-1031) and 10 patients with short OS (median 66 days; range 21-136). KRAS G12A/C/D/R/S/V, and G13D mutations were PCR enriched, sequenced by massively parallel deep sequencing, quantitated and standardized by reporting number of copies detected per 105 genome equivalents (GE). Results: In a pilot study of 20 patients, all 18 patients with evaluable DNA had detectable KRAS mutations. Of 18 patients, 12 had baseline plus longitudinal time points (7 short, 5 long OS). Mutant KRAS copies were higher for short OS (median=994; range 0-34305 copies/105 GE) vs. with long OS (median 196; range, 34-278 copies/105 GE). Longitudinally, KRAS mutation levels remained mostly low with long OS (last time point median 204; range 8-873 copies/105 GE) vs. short OS where levels increased or remained high (median 2363; range 71-47919 copies/105 GE). Identical KRAS mutations were consistently detected for a given patient with short OS. However, long OS patients had variable KRAS mutations in longitudinal analysis. Conclusions: High levels of ctDNA KRAS mutations at diagnosis and post-treatment elevation of KRAS mutations were more associated with short OS. Different levels of KRAS mutation at diagnosis may predict patient outcome and could reflect distinct underlying tumor biology. Expansion of this prospective-retrospective biomarker cohort will be reported.

Abstract The main purpose of this paper is to find a structure of consumer behaviour, especially regarding the preference for the newly-released products from the market. We intend to study the impact of the new, innovative products compared to the traditional ones. Empirical research is based on the selling mix of a company in Romania and Austria. The analysis of this case will be done with the support of an econometric model of simple regression. This research confirms the validation of the structure and the attitude of the consumers towards the new products, launched by that company. By applying this linear model, it is possible to identify the percentage of the increase or decrease in consumption of new products. The need of carrying out this study regarding the impact of the consumption of new products is to create a profile and to find the causes that influence their acquisition. The originality of this paper lays in studying some aspects of influence over the consumption of new products from McDonald’s in Romania and Austria. Where does McDonald’s stand regarding the digitalization? It is not enough to sell new products; it is also necessary to bring innovation in the organization. Nowadays consumers are more present in the online environment and retailers are adapting at a fast pace to their needs of direct communication and transparency. How does a company that faces Slow Food and Bio era, deal with consumers who are more preoccupied with the nutritive values of the nourishment act? Platforms for real-time communication with clients such as “Our food. Your question” redefined the term of transparency and helped McDonald’s stop bad rumors. The results of the research will show us if there really is transformation in behaviour towards traditional products and in what degree consumers are influenced by innovation.

The purpose of the article is to show the formation of the student body of Katerynoslav Іinstitute of Public Education (КІPE) relying on the legacy of the predecessors and the existing sources; to highlight educational, scientific and socio‑political activities of КІPE students; to reveal their financial situation. Research methods: historical-genetic, historical-comparative, historical-typological, problem-chronological. Main results and scientific novelty: the main characteristics of the student body are comprehensively presented, the educational, scientific and socio-political activities of КІPE students are analyzed for the first time. Practical significance: in the process of research, a systematic factual base is created for a comparative analysis of the activities of public education institutions and analysis of statistical data of their student body. The originality of the study is based on a wide range of sources used and their analytical and synthetic processing. Principal results. The dynamics of changes in the student body of the institute, which was formed through a system of business trips, is analyzed. In the first years of the decade, the Bolsheviks failed to realize their ideas of dominance among the youth, workers, peasants, КP(b)U and KSMU members. The distribution of students by nationality was also quite original. There were almost equally Ukrainians, Jews and Russians among them. Perhaps because of this, it was not possible to ukrainize the university completely. Some students were engaged in scientific work. The authorities tried to impose the Marxist-Leninist ideology on young people. However, this work was not effective, primarily because in the first years of the decade, the Communists and the Comsomol members could not create their own centers because of their small numbers. Community work was concentrated in the student club. Student trade union organizations and centers of voluntary societies functioned. Students patronized units of the Red Army, conducted campaigns to eliminate illiteracy. The financial situation of the youth was difficult. It was difficult to provide students with housing, scholarships, food, and medical care. Article type: theoretical research.

AbstractOur study objective was research on the assimilation component of aboveground biomass of trees and its correlation with mensurational indices of trees (age, diameter and height) in stands of the main forest forming species in the Ukrainian Northern Steppe zone - Pinus sylvestris L. (Scots pine) and Robinia pseudoacacia L. (Black locust). The research was carried out in forest stands subordinated to the State Agency of Forest Resources of Ukraine. We used experimental data collected on sample plots established during years 2014-2016. The main research results prove that the foliage share in the tree greenery biomass structure had a wide range of values. For both investigated species, a positive correlation was found between the dry matter content in the tree foliage and the tree age, height and diameter. The foliage share in tree greenery biomass decreased with increasing mensurational index values. Correlation analysis revealed linear relationships between the mensurational indices and the discussed aboveground live biomass parameters. The closest correlation was observed between the stand age, mean stand diameter, mean stand height and dry matter content in the foliage.

New product preannouncement research investigates formal and deliberate communications by a firm regarding its future new product introductions (e.g., types of new products, new product attributes, plans for distribution, planned launch date). However, previous studies have primarily focused on communication related to the firm’s intent to introduce a new product and largely ignored communications regarding changes in their status, such as launch delays as well as cancellation of the new product introduction. The goal of this study is to address this shortfall by examining antecedents factors influencing a preannouncing firm (i.e., one that preannounces its new products) to also announce changes in to its new product introduction plans (NPCs); specifically, delays in the introduction of a new product or its cancellation. This topic is particularly relevant given the importance that recent studies have placed on the investigation of false new product preannouncements or bluffs, especially in the software industry where they are termed vaporware. Furthermore, in the wake of the many recent high-profile corporate scandals (e.g., Enron and Tyco), a growing emphasis on corporate disclosure, particularly regarding performance shortfalls (e.g., new product delays and cancellations), also highlights the need for further research on corporate communication regarding changes to new product introduction plans. Additionally, unlike most extant preannouncement research that attempts to examine differences between preannouncers and non-preannouncers, our study only examines firms that preannounce their new product introductions and then, goes further, by examining post-preannouncement behavior. In developing our framework, we propose five antecedents that motivate a preannouncing firm’s propensity, when the situation arises, to issue announcements regarding delays in a new product introduction or its cancellation. Additionally, we highlight the use of NPCs as strategic marketing communication tools that can continually inform and influence a wide range of target audiences (e.g., buyers, employees, supply chain participants, investors, and business media). The hypotheses are tested via factor score regression with a sample of 221 U.S. – based manufacturers. Our findings indicate that it is not the firm’s desire to communicate in a general sense through information sharing nor its concerns regarding competitors that motivates preannouncing firms to issue NPCs. Instead, the preannouncing firm’s desire to build its reputation, the innovativeness of its industry, and the degree to which buyers must make substantial pre-purchase investments are the main drivers of communication regarding changes to its new product introduction plans. As a set, these findings are particularly interesting as they indicate that the preannouncing firm’s desire to reduce uncertainty, often in its own favor, underlies its decision to issue NPCs.

The study objective is to determine the potential of the city scientific libraries to support institutions of the scientific and educational complex with information. Using a wide range of statistical data, the authors describe the resource base development of scientific libraries in Novosibirsk including libraries of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences and higher educational institutions. They show the influence of the scientific and educational space transformation on certain areas of scientific libraries activity. The article updates existing ideas on the component structure of the educational space interdependent subjects. Taking into account factors of a social nature affecting the structure of the scientific and educational environment of Novosibirsk, the authors characterize the scientific libraries potential, their documentary resources, and substantiate that accelerating the leading universities and scientific institutions integration motivates scientific libraries of different statuses to develop new models of their corporate interaction. Under the city scientific libraries disproportionately provision with information resources, it is advisable to form an adequate model for all participants interaction in the scientific and educational process, and create a system of informing about the resource capabilities of the entire conglomeration of city scientific libraries based on navigation tool application. Converging the resource base of the city scientific libraries should have a compensatory value for information support of scientific and educational activities.
