The problem of forecasting self-similar traffic, which is characterized by a considerable number of ripples and the property of long-term dependence, is considered. It is proposed to use the method of spline extrapolation using linear and cubic splines. The results of self-similar traffic prediction were obtained, which will allow to predict the necessary size of the buffer devices of the network nodes in order to avoid congestion in the network and exceed the normative values of QoS quality characteristics. The solution of the problem of self-similar traffic forecasting obtained with the Simulink software package in Matlab environment is considered. A method of extrapolation based on spline functions is developed. The proposed method has several advantages over the known methods, first of all, it is sufficient ease of implementation, low resource intensity and accuracy of prediction, which can be enhanced by the use of quadratic or cubic interpolation spline functions. Using the method of spline extrapolation, the results of self-similar traffic prediction were obtained, which will allow to predict the required volume of buffer devices, thereby avoiding network congestion and exceeding the normative values of QoS quality characteristics. Given that self-similar traffic is characterized by the presence of "bursts" and a long-term dependence between the moments of receipt of applications in this study, given predetermined data to improve the prediction accuracy, it is possible to use extrapolation based on wavelet functions, the so-called wavelet-extrapolation method. Based on the results of traffic forecasting, taking into account the maximum values of network node traffic, you can give practical guidance on how traffic is redistributed across the network. This will balance the load of network objects and increase the efficiency of network equipment.

Cattle sired by Piedmontese or Wagyu bulls were bred and grown within pasture-based nutritional systems followed by feedlot finishing. Effects of low (mean 28.6 kg, n = 120) and high (38.8 kg, n = 120) birth weight followed by slow (mean 554 g/day, n = 119) or rapid (875 g/day, n = 121) growth to weaning on carcass, yield and beef quality characteristics at about 30 months of age were examined. Low birth weight calves weighed 56 kg less at 30 months of age, had 32 kg lighter carcasses, and yielded 18 kg less retail beef compared with high birth weight calves. Composition of carcasses differed little due to birth weight when adjusted to an equivalent carcass weight (380 kg). Calves grown slowly to weaning were 40 kg lighter at 30 months of age compared with those grown rapidly to weaning. They had 25 kg smaller carcasses which yielded 12 kg less retail beef than their counterparts at 30 months of age, although at an equivalent carcass weight yielded 5 kg more retail beef and had 5 kg less fat trim. Neither low birth weight nor slow growth to weaning had adverse effects on beef quality measurements. No interactions between sire-genotype and birth weight, or growth to weaning, were evident for carcass, yield and beef quality traits. Although restricted growth during fetal life or from birth to weaning resulted in smaller animals that yield less meat at about 30 months of age, adverse effects on composition due to increased fatness, or on indices of beef quality, were not evident at this age or when data were adjusted to an equivalent carcass weight.

Aviation is one of the most significant growth drivers not only for the transportation infrastructure, but also for country’s economy as it contributes to both industrial and social progress of society. The paper focuses on Sheremetyevo International Airport, one of the largest Russian airports and analyzes it in terms of short-term and long-term perspectives. Using real statistical data, the article presents the models for forecasting essential performance indicators of airports, namely, passenger traffic and revenue. By comparing quality characteristics, most suitable models were selected and checked for adequacy. Forecasts of the probable changes in the values of the performance indicators were made under the assumption of maintaining the previously formed development trend.
