Leguminous are a source of vegetable protein and an important component of human food, the lack of which negatively affects the physiological and functional development of the human body. Chickpeas are the most widespread type of legumes. For this purpose, two varieties of spring chickpea “Anush”, obtained in the scientific center of agriculture, and ILC-3279, selected from the world collection of chickpea, were tested in the three soil and climatic conditions of the Republic of Armenia: in the Ararat plain, in the foothills and in the mountains. Environmental testing of these varieties showed that these varieties gave the best results in terms of biological and economic indicators. And besides the Ararat plain, they can be grown both in the foothills and mountainous zones of the Republic. This will help to increase the acreage of chickpea.

Based on the analysis of data available in the literature and our own experimental material on phytocenotic selection of the stony stalk (Bromopsis inermis Holub.) the important role of competition between plants in the field for the creation of new varieties of perennial grasses that provide high yields of feed polyvid agrophytocenoses is shown.

Mark Grimshaw-Aagaard addresses the role of sound in the creation of presence in virtual and actual worlds. He argues that imagination is a central part of the generation and selection of perceptual hypotheses—models of the world in which we can act—that emerge from what Grimshaw-Aagaard calls the “exo-environment” (the sensory input) and the “endo-environment” (the cognitive input). Grimshaw-Aagaard further divides the exo-environment into a primarily auditory and a primarily visual dimension and he deals with the actual world of his own apartment and the virtual world of first-person-shooter computer games in order to exemplify how we perceptually construct an environment that allows for the creation of presence.

The article reflects the issues of the current state of scientific research at the FSBSI FSVC, shows the directions and prospects for the development of selection and seed production of vegetable crops. The main mission of the selection and seed-growing work of the FSVC is the creation and reproduction of varieties and hybrids of vegetable and melon crops of a new generation, characterized by resistance to abiotic and biotic stressors, high productivity and product quality. One of the main ways to increase the efficiency of the breeding process is the use of modern methods of biotechnology and molecular genetics, which make it possible to obtain new genotypes and reduce the time of breeding. Success has been achieved in the creation of homozygous lines of cabbage, squash, cucumber, carrots. For the first time, it was possible to complete a full cycle of obtaining doubled radish haploids in microspore culture in vitro. The institution pays special attention to immunological research on the resistance of crops and new varieties to diseases, as well as protecting plants from pests and diseases. Phytosanitary monitoring, assessment and selection of resistant genotypes are carried every years. One of the important theoretical and practical problems solved at the institution is the development of environmentally friendly products based on preparations obtained from plants with a high content of biologically active compounds with adaptogenic properties. In the center, a new direction of research in traditional breeding has received significant development - the creation of varieties of vegetable plants with an increased content of biologically active substances and antioxidants, on the basis of which functional products are created. The persistence of modern varieties and hybrids of table carrots, depending on the biochemical composition, has been studied. Methods for enriching vegetable plants with micronutrients are being developed. A large amount of scientific research is being carried out on the development of technologies for the cultivation of new varieties and hybrids, as well as technologies for their seed production. At the branches located in different soil and climatic conditions, hospitals were established to study the interaction of factors controlling soil fertility and the productivity of vegetable crops in agrocenoses (crop rotation, soil treatment systems, fertilizers and plant protection). In general, at the FSBSI FSVC, all research is aimed at developing and improving methods in breeding and seed production of vegetable crops, creating new breeding achievements and developing varietal technologies for their cultivation.

THE PRESTIGIOUS 21st HONG KONG International Film Festival, which concluded on 9 April 1997, presented its largest and perhaps the greatest collection of global cinema with some 280 films and video works. This year, this non-competitive festival attracted more than three hundred festival guests and major critics from all over the world with more than half of them coming from Japan and East Asia.  Its humbler counterpart, the Singapore International Film Festival (SIFF) is now in its 10th year. Some 220 films were shown there (including a number of fringe films and videos presented at the Goethe Institute, and a retrospective of François Truffaut's films screened at the Alliance Française). Film critics and festival directors flew over to the Republic to view the sensitive selection of Asian cinema by the festival programmer Philip Cheah. In its competitive section for Asian films, the SIFF honours the winners with its Silver...

The most important diseases that cause loss of productivity in all areas of pepper production in the world and the limitation of cultivation are Phytophthora crown blight of pepper (Phytophthora capsici Leon.). The disease is a soil borne pathogen, and its challenge is difficult. Selection of varieties resistant to diseases of soil-borne plant pathogens is the most efficient, economical and sustainable method. In this study, the resistance of Phytophthora crown blight (Phytophthora capsici Leon.) disease on 95 pepper genotype in terms of yield and some quality characteristics was investigated by using SCAR marker (OpD04.717). In the study, pepper lines in 7 pepper genotype F2 population showed durability band at 717 bp of agarose gel, while 88 pepper genotype were found to be sensitive. As a result of molecular studies, 7 pepper genotype resistant to Phytophthora capsici Leon. were also confirmed by classical test using seedling immersion method. In the study, as a result of molecular and classical tests, Phytophthora capsici Leon. is determined to be resistant to pepper lines in the hybridization programs to obtain new varieties and will be used as a parent or father will contribute to improvement studies.

A search for a source of resistance in flax to the virus disease called aster yellows was initiated in 1958. The variety Abyssinian (C.I. 302) from the World Collection of flax contributed a greater number of plants free from aster yellows symptoms than other varieties tested. Selection of plants free from symptoms after exposure to caged leafhoppers was carried out for five generations. A selected strain of Abyssinian was produced with a higher degree of aster yellows resistance. This strain is considered satisfactory as an aster yellows resistant parent in a breeding program.

Abstract Aridity in new climatic conditions requires indexes which could adequately explain this process. All the more so, the quantities of atmospheric precipitations also continue to increase on the background of the temperatures increase in the conditions of the Republic of Moldova. Their variable character in the last period of time with the installation of dry and droughty periods alternating with rainy flood-provoking periods determines the selection of the most optimal ecometric indexes that could correctly explain the occurrence of pronounced desertification in the last period of time.
