This study aims to analyze how the media Tirto.id and Detik.com frame the violation of Raffi Ahmad's health protocol after receiving the first batch of Covid-19 vaccinations, using the framing analysis approach developed by Robert N. Entman. The concept of Entman framing analysis is often used to examine how the media selects and accentuates certain realities before publishing them as news. Entman has four approaches in the concept of analysis to study news as text, namely by looking at how the media defines problems, diagnosing causes, then making moral decisions, and offering treatment recommendations. In this study, researchers found that Tirto.id not only troublesome Raffi Ahmad for violating health protocols after being vaccinated, but also troublesome President Joko Widodo era, which still uses celebrities or influencers to support its policies, even though it has resulted in weaknesses. Meanwhile, Detik.com tends to inflict all problems on Raffi Ahmad and has so far stopped on emphasizing social sanctions against these celebrities as punishment. Framing analysis is the latest version of the discourse analysis approach, especially for analyzingmedia texts. Framing analysis as a method of media content analysis, classified as a new version. It evolved in unison with the views of the constructors. This paradigm has its own position andoutlook towards the media. News in the view of social construction, is not an event or fact in areal sense. Here reality is not just simply taken for granted as news. It is a product of interactionbetween journalists and facts. In the process of internalization of journalists hit by reality. Realityis observed by journalists and absorbed in the consciousness of journalists. In the process ofexternalization, journalists throw themselves into meaningful reality. This study aims to find the framing of detik.com and kompas.com on the evacuation process of the Lion Air JT610 plane crash, in the aspect of moral judgment. Every event that occurs which is informed by the media has a specific purpose to be conveyed so that the reader can be construed like what the media wants. One of the suppressive aspects of the news is to provide an image for the public to conduct moral judgments on events that occur. To achieve this goal, this study uses a qualitative method using the Robert N. Entman framing analysis approach. From the search for the news made, this study found that detik.com provides news quickly, while kompas.com features accurate news, so the preaching process takes longer than detik.com. Meanwhile, in the aspect of explaining the causes of the accident, detik.com prioritizes a comprehensive explanation by presenting various sources. This is different from kompas.com which tends to display news from one side. Two different aspects of taking a point of view between detik.com and kompas.com cause different moral judgments to emerge. Kompas prefers the point of view of the evacuation team by presenting the narrative of victims who died in the evacuation process. Meanwhile, detik.com takes the perspective of the victim, so that the misfortunes of the victim's family are highlighted.

Mass media has an important role in imaging. Whether we realize it or not, the image is the result of mass media construction. The mass media can lift someone so that they become famous and supported by the community but can also bring down the person to become the most hated figure. The media constructs reality through certain points of view which are then framed or framed. In this study, the framing analysis of the Gamson and Modigliani models was used to find out how the reality or image of Edy Rahmayadi was constructed or framed by MedanBisnisdaily.com. According to Gamson, framing is a way of telling stories or clusters of organized ideas in such a way and presenting the construction of the meaning of events related to the object of a discourse. This type of research is qualitative with a constructivism paradigm. From this research, Medanbisnisdaily.com describes the image of Edy Rahmayadi as a firm, but controversial and seemingly arrogant person.

The coronavirus has caused social, economic, and phsychological effects all over the world. Thisvirus is easy to spread and can pose a risk of death. Indonesia is one of the countries most affected bythis virus. At the beginning of its appearance, the information about those overflowed in the massmedia. The media inform about Covid-19 and government policies in handling the virus. This textbased qualitative research was conducted by framing analysis. Robert Entmant's framing scheme isused to describe the reality of reporting on government policies related to handling of Covid-19 inonline media. The data collection techniques is through observation, documentation, and literaturestudy. The research process is carried out by interpreting the stage of defining the problem, estimating problems, making moral decisions and emphasizing the solution. As a result, the newsframing of the handling of Covid-19 was built in line with the policies conveyed by the government inthe mass media. Public communication carried out by the government can determine the direction ofthe news narrative in the media. The policies taken by the government always have a political, economic, and health narrative. These three things become a narrative that can not be separated inthe news. The media often criticize government policies which are often inappropriate anduncoordinated so they are fed up with those informations sooner. The media should be able to givehope to the public to be optimistic and enthusiastic in dealing with the pandemic situation. Keywords: Covid-19, Coronavirus, Media, Framing

This article examines how freedom of speech is framed in the media controversy surrounding the Australian rugby player Israel Folau’s April 2019 Instagram post. A content analysis and framing analysis of newspaper reportage reveals that the controversy has been largely discussed in terms of whether or not Folau’s speech was being curtailed and whether this curtailing indicates a broader, ideologically motivated censoriousness. This discussion is problematic in that it says little about the actual substance of Folau’s post. This article argues that debates surrounding freedom of speech such as the one involving Folau could and should be enriched by an engagement with ethical principles. This engagement is premised on a commitment to the free exchange of views, while acknowledging that ‘speech’ is not always inherently beneficial for democracy, nor worth defending.

Abstract One of the main goals of contemporary media, along with the experts and professionals, who speak in them, has been to explain complex issues and provide the audience with clear descriptions of social reality. This is mostly achieved by the production of ideologically useful interpretative schemes that facilitate understanding of the issues present on the media agenda. An important strategy of shaping the public opinion in the way in which public affairs and the activity of social life participants is framed. Analyses of such practices have been conducted for over thirty years within various research approaches collectively referred to as framing analysis. This research provides several arguments helping one to develop a more critical perspective on the representations of social phenomena dominant in the media and discourses of symbolic elites (e.g. opinion writers, academics, experts, journalists, politicians), along with the analyses of the origin of such phenomena, moral judgements and preferred "corrective policies". One of the phenomena defined by the media in Europe as the most important one for the past several years, is the so-called "New Right". The aim of the paper is to analyse the interpretative schemes used by the journalists of four Polish opinion-forming weeklies and to describe the activity of its German manifestation – the Patriotic Europeans Against the Islamisation of the Occident (Pegida) social movement and the Alternative for Germany party (AfD).

This article focuses on the framing of Boko Haram, a transnational terrorist group, in legacy and social media platforms. The discussion is predicated on the understanding that in spite of its popularity as a research tool, the concept of framing is still problematic. One area of contention has been the reliability and validity of framing analysis. Drawing on Robert Entman’s seminal definition, this study investigates the viability of two innovative framing approaches and explores the intersection of the framing of Boko Haram in four Nigerian newspapers and Twitter. The authors argue that, while newspapers continue to dominate the media space, it is important to acknowledge the growing relevance of social media in shaping and influencing the opinion of their users. The study’s findings support the viability of these approaches and come to the conclusion that exploring the differences between the platforms can unearth different versions of reality.

This chapter discusses the media construction of women co-offenders and their relationship with their male partner/ co-offender, using the case/ court file material as a comparative tool. It particularly considers the ways in which the women’s representation served to minimise and discredit their perspectives and defence, particularly in relation to the potential influence of their relationship with their male partner on their offending behaviour. It also considers the ways in which the women’s suggestions of coercion or coercive techniques (at varying levels) by their male partner were constructed, particularly in media discourse. In doing so, the chapter is divided into a number of key themes, such as ‘bad women’ and ‘equally bad or worse’. It is important to note that the themes apply to the women at varying levels and the extent to which they were evident in the women’s legal and media representation will be discussed.

This paper focuses on the frames; through which execution of Mumtaz Qadri’s editorialized by the Urdu print media of Pakistan. Eighteen editorials on the selected topic, from March 1, 2016, to April 1, 2016, are selected as a sample from five leading national newspapers viz. Jang, Nawa-e-Waqt, Ausaf, Ummat, and Islam. Freedom of expression and blasphemy depicted through consistency and discord frames is explored with the help of Galtung’s peace and violence journalism indicators. The content analysis approach is applied, with the Framing theory providing theoretical background. It has been found that Media portrayed the issue through discord frame as a dominant frame, which approved the notion of Galtung that media usually portray the conflicts through violence journalism frame. It also approved that the media have not continued framing by a uniform pace. They play an active role in opinion formation of a public. With the passage of time media changed their framing tone from discord to the consistency frames. This proves that media is conscious to enjoy the right of freedom of expression with reference to the blasphemy, in such a volatile situation.
