The power theft is one of the main problems facing the electric energy sector in Iraq, where a large amount of electrical energy is lost due to theft. It is required to design a system capable of detecting and locating energy theft without any human interaction. This paper presents an effective solution with low cost to solve power theft issue in distribution lines. Master meter is designed to measures the power of all meters of the homes connected to it. All the measured values are transmitted to the server via GPRS. The values of power for all energy meters within the grid are also transmitted. The comparison between the power of the master meter and all the other meters are transmitted to the server. If there is a difference between the energy meters, then a theft is happened and the server will send a signal via GSM to the overrun meter to switch off the power supply. Raspberry pi is used as a server and equipped and programmed to detect the power theft.

An energy-efficient and simple method of testing electric motors in a dynamic mode is considered. When testing an electrical machine, the rotor is driven into a reciprocating rotary motion. The source of power of the power converter, which controls the electric machine, is a supercapacitor. When the electric machine is accelerated, electric energy is consumed from the supercapacitor, when the machine brakes the kinetic energy of the moving masses is converted into electrical energy, which accumulates in the supercapacitor. The energy loss during the operation of the electromechanical system in the dynamic mode is compensated by recharging the supercapacitor using a controlled rectifier connected to the power supply network.

This chapter concerns energy storage technologies. It firstly outlines two popular storage technologies, batteries and supercapacitors, while their working principles are revealed. The key issues of these two technologies, such as costs, key types, capacities, etc., are also discussed. Afterwards, a hybrid electrical energy storage (HEES) system consisting of both technologies are demonstrated where the electrical circuit is illustrated. The design of the system aims to demonstrate different characteristics of these two technologies via their charging and discharging process. A test rig is explained in detail while other components, including a load bank, an inverter, a data acquisition subsystem (both the hardware and the software) are also clarified. The experimental results are illustrated and analyzed thereafter. Also, this chapter presents several other promising technologies where their key features, pros and cons, and core applications are pointedly reviewed. The concerned storage technologies include photovoltaic (PV) systems, pumped hydro-energy storage (PHES), superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES), gas, and other alternatives sources. The authors provide the readers with a brief insight of various energy storage technologies and the inspiration of developing a low-cost, accessible energy storage system for the reader's own purposes.

Ultrasonic sonar object and range detection measurement using Hc-sr04 display can be use in every application. Ultrasonic sonar popular to use due to low cost, availability, no radiation for human applied in more industry such as medicine, robotic, automation. Ultrasonic sensor is a measurement device that consist of two transducer one for transmitting an ultrasonic wave and the other for receiving the reflective wave. We use HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor can detect lower range from 1cm to 2.5 meter with precession about 0.1 cm and frequency up to 40Khz. The target must be proper orientation and perpendicular to the direction propagation of pulse. The amplitude of receive signal decrease depend on the medium and the distance between transmitter and the target. The transmitter converts electrostatic energy from a vibrating membrane to an ultrasonic waveform whilst the receiver converts the reflected ultrasonic waveform back into electrical energy. This electrical energy combine with motor servo to see the angle of sweeping and ultrasonic waveform using arduino atmega 2560 then be interpreted by a computer display in two dimension for measurement angle and distance of object. Conversion between electrical energy to an ultrasonic waveform use electrostatic transducer or normally we call piezoelectric transducer .

The Nigerian electric power sector holds a lot of unfulfilled potentials for the economic development of Africa’s most populous country; the electric energy generated is not up to 30% of the national demand and worse still, over 50% of this paltry sum is recorded as losses—this is not indicative of commercial viability. The visible efforts being made to address the problems, though laudable, do not fully demonstrate complete appreciation of the underlying root causes. In this paper, an examination of the structure of the Nigerian electricity industry is provided followed by a technical review of factors responsible for the excessive losses (technical and non-technical) in the system. The solutions proffered would enable improved response, first to efficiently manage the available energy and also to grow the industry for the good of the nation. Keywords: Nigerian power distribution system, electric energy theft, power losses in Nigeria.

Deaf and blind people find very difficult to communicate to other people. The latest technological development helps the people having disabilities particularly deaf and blind people to communicate to other people. These people can able to communicate with the help of their sense of touch. So the advance sensors integrating with the recent technology assists the people with disability for communicating with the other people. In this paper Glove based sensors combined with the Artificial Intelligence is demonstrated so that the deaf and blind people can communicate to other people in a big conference or any public places. It is also proved that the device developed is a low cost wearable device which is affordable to such a weaker section of people having disabilities. Raspberry-pi and mobile device are cantered around the sensors to process and communicate. With the help of the device demonstrated in this paper people with disabilities specially deaf and blind can involve freely in day to day regular activities.

The article presents the results of research on the evaluation of electromagnetic compatibility of elements of the power supply system for Autonomous low-power consumers. The subject of the study is a quantitative assessment of the level of harmonic components of currents and voltages in systems: a permanent magnet generator-a DC-to-AC Converter-a consumer with a nonlinear load and interfering interaction of jointly working elements of this system. The level of harmonics of voltage and current in the local electrical network (farm), repeatedly (from 3 to 10 times) exceeds the regulatory requirements. The multiplicity of the increase in electrical energy losses (K-Factor) is from 5("pure" sine of the DC-AC Converter) to 20 (rectangular meander). When designing Autonomous systems, it is necessary to provide measures to reduce the loss of electrical energy, exit from standing electrical equipment and false triggering of electronic devices in the consumer of electric energy

With increasing energy needs of electricity for industry and new customers in the crowded settlements, especially along the coastal areas of Beautiful Kapok, readiness and availability of resources to increase the burden of customers need efforts and appropriate measures. One of the most easy and safe to transmit electrical energy is by Splitting the load. The aim in this study is to determine the way and site selection as well as calculate the imposition of new penyulang. The distribution of electric energy from the parent booths toward the consumers can do with the distribution of direct or indirect distribution. Via Penyulang 20 kV distribution with the selected cable channels-free cable is a requirement of the disorder, in an effort to increase the quality of the distribution. In the system of electric power supply, voltage general conditions let it send penyulang allowed (5%-10%) according to the standard PLN. While according to ANSI standard C84, paragraph 1 is (4% and-10%) under normal conditions. The current that flows through the penyulang must not exceed the limit of the ability distribution against the denseness of the load. So that the required voltage quality is better. As for who should be taken into account in determining the location of the new building of the penyulang is based on the Division of the burden, then choose the type of cable that well that is kind of XLPE cable 240 mm2 aluminum as a necessary investment.

A power system can be said to be reliable if it has a high continuity of service. To achieve this, an operational arrangement is required to optimize installed power to supply the load to avoid overloading or over-supply of the system. Modjopanggoong Sugar Factory Tulungagung is one of the sugar producing industries, where the electrical system in this factory uses two power supply, which is using PLN supply and Turbine Generator Boiler (BTG). The use of more than one power supply resulted in an increase in the required electricity production costs. To solve this problem, in this research will be conducted a study to make efficient of electrical energy cost which is done by arranging supply of electric energy, that is using maximum supply of BTG and its deficiency supported PLN supply (alternative I), using PLN maximum supply and its deficiency is supported BTG supply alternative II) and only use PLN supply (alternative III). The results showed that energy efficiency can be done with the regulation of energy supply at the factory, that is in alternative I with savings Rp.430.025.007 (2.1%), alternative II with savings of Rp. 553,984,815 (2.7%), and alternative III with savings of Rp. 2.055.727.407 (10%).

Fly ash is an important industrial by-product that comes from the combustion of coal, for the production of electrical energy. In our country, only a small percentage is used for the construction of technical projects, while the rest is stockpiled, causing serious problems. Because of its great availability and its low cost, further possibility of its usage should be investigated. In the present assignment, clay soils, natural and crushed sand-gravel were stabilized with different quantities of fly ash, for the creation of durable forest roads. From research, it has been found that stabilization with fly ash, improves the natural and mechanical characteristics of soils (plasticity, compressive strength and particle size distribution). As a result, the improvement of the forest road networks from one side and the economy in natural inert materials and the exploitation of fly ash from the other, the importance of such an intervention in the protection of the forest ecosystem and the natural environment in general are obvious.
