The paper is devoted to the problem of optimal machine design selection by developing and solving the problem of multi-criteria optimisation, using the method suggesting a unified criterion with the use of weighting factors based on expert estimates. Based on the example of the design of a multi-purpose machine for service electric transport, a mathematical model of parametric optimisation of the design of electric and combined propulsion plants is developed. The most efficient system components are selected to meet the customer's requirements.

A Universal Mathematical Model (UMM) has been developed and applied to a combined-cycle, fossil-fuel power system. The UMM includes static and dynamic models of the system. The static model allows for thermodynamic and thermochemical analyses of the basic system components (reformer, turbine, membrane separator, fuel cell, air compressor, heat exchanger, and other components) and the entire system. The dynamic model provides for mode-to-mode (a partial load to a full or nominal load) time determination for the individual system components and for the entire system. System transient modes were studied, and it was determined that the reforming reactor transition time should be no less than 200 sec, which results in a system mode-to-mode transition time of three to four minutes.

The weight minimum and drive efficiency maxima1 of screw conveyor were considered as double optimizing objects in this paper. The mathematical model of the screw conveyor has been established based on the theory of the machine design, and the genetic algorithm was adopted to solving the multi-objective optimization problem. The results show that the mass of spiral shaft reduces 13.6 percent, and the drive efficiency increases 6.4 percent because of the optimal design based on genetic algorithm. The genetic algorithm application on the screw conveyor optimized design can provided the basis for designing the screw conveyor.

The article contains generalized systems of equations describing the vertical and longitudinal-angular vibrations of the main parts of the tractor with the mathematical model of the hierarchical vertical linear oscillation of the tractor, the irregularities of the roads, taking into account the rigidity and damping. It includes systems: equations describing the vertical vibrations of the skeleton over the propellers of a tractor on an uneven road; equations describing the vertical vibrations of the cab of the rear of the tractor, taking into account the walking of the tractor on uneven roads. Equation systems have also been compiled that describe the vertical oscillations of the uppermost hierarchical link - the seat of the tractor operator, taking into account the walking of the tractor on an uneven road. The use of this original mathematical model will make it possible to find random unwanted oscillations of the new designed machine design. It will help to optimize their geometric and dynamic parameters.

By adapting their properties to the respective situation, active machine components can contribute to improving process conditions or increasing the service life of the system components involved. This article presents the design of a profile rail guide that can switch between different preload classes by means of integrated piezo actuators and thus minimise its own wear.

This paper presents the engineering analytical models of photovoltaic (PV) water pumping system from electronics theory, and some mathematical models of system components have been established. Studies have shown that the minimum unit water cost may not be reached only with the control strategy of maximum output power of the system. Therefore, system optimization is very necessary to reducing the capacity for every unit of pumped water, which is based on the design optimization theory and has shown its economics.

AbstractThe accumulators utilized in electric transport differ from those of other applications. Their main features are high capacity, minimum size and weight, and reasonable price. There is extensive research worldwide to improve the battery technology. The aim of the research is to create a mathematical model of an electric vehicle that can capture the vehicle speed curve as a data input to generate the consumed and recovered battery current, which can allow the battery parameters to be analysed and conclude whether the vehicle can perform the trip around the city route with the selected battery parameters. This model serves as a tool to simplify and speed up the necessary calculations and to examine individual sections of the route and their impact on the battery. To complete this task, a simplified electric transport mathematical model gives an opportunity to check if the selected battery can be used in the electrical public transport of the city. The input parameters of the model are the parameters of electrical transport. Simulation of the most popular types of batteries has been performed for two routes of buses in Jelgava in order to determine whether the chosen batteries can provide the necessary bus movement. The mathematical model has been developed in the MATLAB/Simulink software. A GPS mobile application SpeedTracker has been used for data logging.

The paper discusses theoretical aspects that arised during determination of theoretical positioning accuracy of parallel kinematic structures (PKS) with special regard to the Tricept type PKS. Apart from the conventional serial structures that employ translate or rotational movement (or their combination) of individual driving axes, parallel structures comprise a set of telescopic driving rods that are joined together via solid platform. Due to this fact, the mathematical model describing relationship between the driving actions of telescopic rods and resulting coordinates of the desired effector's endpoint is rather complex. To determine the theoretically achievable positioning accuracy of the endpoint, authors investigated theoretical influence of geometrical imperfections of the machine design and employed the law of uncertainties propagation. Their aim was to investigate theoretically achievable positioning accuracy of the machine prior to the final design solutions thus helping the designer to optimize the machine's design.

Uneven heating of the pantograph slide is the reason for limiting the pantograph removal of the maximum permissible long-term current from the contact network. The highest heating point is observed in the center of the pantograph head relative to the path axis, which can be taken into account when developing a pantograph slide cooling device. Existing models of the thermal state of the pantograph slide do not describe the transient modes of distributed heating of a closed-type structure (euro pantograph head) as a result of the impact of a contact wire in the plan when moving a rolling stock. Existing methods for calculating the heating of the pantograph slide require the use of special programs for the development of its three-dimensional model and significant power of electronic computers. The paper presents a mathematical model euro pantograph head standard design and are equipped with passive cooling system the center through the frame device of the confuser type, which can calculate the load characteristics of the pantograph slide, to evaluate the reduction of uneven heating of its design and to determine the maximal permissible continuous current of the pantograph.
