Methods of quantitative evaluation of construction technology focussing on two major aspects of the production program of a construction enterprise are suggested. The above methods may be applied in quantitative and qualitative analysis of technology used in construction systems of buildings and structures. The quantitative analysis aims to evaluate the uniformity of the applied methods expressed by two indices ‐ an extent of size variation of building systems and their number. The qualitative aspect reflects technological solutions of building systems contained in the production programme of an enterprise. The quantitative aspect of the applied technologies may be described in terms of size dispersion of the applied building systems. A qualitative aspect of technology concerns the extent of building systems usage and the efficiency of technological solutions. The value of the first index may be obtained from the construction program of the construction enterprise, while that of the second may be determined by expert systems. The calculations of a typical case confirm the efficiency of the suggested approach.

The successful performance of construction enterprises as well as their competitiveness are largely determined by the construction technology and management methods used. In this respect two levels referring to a building or structure itself and to a construction enterprise as a whole should be distinguished. The technology of a building or structure embraces its construction system generally characterizing building materials, design solutions and load‐bearing structures and enclosures used in the construction of this particular building. The problem of selecting a general technological criterion for the whole construction enterprise arises. A construction enterprise fulfilling its annual program can simultaneously construct buildings and structures based on various construction systems, i.e. it can use various technologies. Searching for an integrated criterion to describe an enterprise as a whole three main issues including the variation of the applied technologies and their volumes and technological effectiveness should be taken into consideration. In the paper the problem of determining technological effectiveness of construction systems is considered. A method of pairwise comparison developed by T. Saaty was used to address this problem. The calculations were made for all thirteen technologies currently used in Lithuanian construction industry. Based on the suggested approach the weight of technological effectiveness was determined for each of them in the parts of one.

This paper studies the regionalization of project management on the construction enterprise, compares four companies of industry with the different mode about regionalization of project management. It is pointed that the construction enterprises exist the main problems, including the definitude of management functions. The results indicate reasonably that the total five countermeasures and suggestions on the regionalization of project management about the construction enterprise, such as clear market division and the responsible units.

In the article, the aspects and types of such stylistic device as foregrounding are investigated in the short stories of contemporary American writers. The quantitative aspect of foregrounding prevails in flash fiction stories which is realized by means of stylistic convergence and parallelism. Convergences are mainly used in strong positions, especially in the endings, as in the stories by J. Updike, D. Galef, D.Eggers. The qualitative aspect of foregrounding is expressed with the help of tropes such as metaphor, simile and oxymoron which are also present in strong positions – titles, beginnings, endings (the stories by G. Paley, D. Galef, J. Updike). The idea of tolerance, sympathy, understanding is dominant in many flash fiction stories. Foregrounding, especially in the strong positions of the stories, emphasizes this idea, thus producing a strong pragmatic, emotional effect. Due to such device in the endings many flash fiction stories can be called modern parables of life, love, justice.

<p>It is important to preserve historic buildings in their original conditions, not only to protect building integrity but also to sustain Traditional Knowledge Systems. As stated by ICCROM, those Traditional Knowledge Systems play an important role in the conservation and management of heritage. Among them, building service systems including heating, cooling, ventilation, lighting, drainage, and their architectural construction technology help sustain heritage buildings and extend their life cycle with a minimum level of energy demand. Passive survivability means also contribute to comfort conditions, opening new scenarios for the designing of contemporary buildings. Hence, in this research, first, traditional Kutahya houses were examined in terms of their construction, technology, and architecture. Then, among them, Lajos Kossuth House, dated the 18th century, has been chosen as an exemplary to investigate its traditional building service systems in more detail from the point of circularity in construction, their contribution to circular economy, Cradle to Cradle (C2C) strategies, and design for adaptability principles (DfA).  It is observed that they are mostly in a well-preserved condition in terms of both function and character-defining features. However, after 1982, during its refurbishment work to be used as a museum, some of its original details, especially the ones related to waste and clean water were destroyed. To be able to sustain and protect the rest of the original service systems and related architectural construction details in this case study building, they should first be documented, well defined and their recognition should be increased to serve as a model for the maintenance of similar building systems. In addition, it might be possible to transfer the knowledge of those passive survivability means and circular construction principles to contemporary buildings.</p>

This article is devoted to issues of interaction of stakeholders of construction enterprises. First of all, the peculiarities of the construction industry are defined, which form additional requirements for the development of an integrated system for assessing interaction with stakeholders. Second, approaches to the formation of a register of potential stakeholders have been identified. A template for analysis has been developed, and individual examples are grouped by interaction directions. The methodology of identifying potential stakeholders by means of a three-level process of applying different versions of expert assessment methods in order to minimize their negative factor – subjectivity, is proposed. Methods of direct selection of experts and algorithms of their assessment are defined. Proposals to rank stakeholders according to their priority and potential result from their interaction with the construction enterprise have been developed. According to the integral assessment, ways of controlling the processes of interaction with stakeholders of different ranking levels are proposed, recommendations for building a further strategy for managing these processes are given. A system of modeling interaction between construction enterprises and stakeholders to ensure planning, organization, monitoring, and control processes in optimistic, realistic, and pessimistic scenarios has been created. Recommendations for further use of the methodology of integral assessment of the interaction of stakeholders of construction enterprises in practice are given.

The purpose of this paper is to explore the design of public low-cost housing in Jigawa State, Nigeria and assess how residents perceived the housing units in relation to their culture and impact on their well-being. The housing units were constructed as an intervention by the government for low-income earners. This research was conducted through both qualitative and quantitative approaches. In qualitative aspect, three respondents were interviewed to express their perception on the public low-cost housing design, while quantitative aspect assessed the residential housing attributes of low-cost housing estates with view to identify the important housing attributes considered by the residents for their well-being and was used to support the qualitative aspect. This was achieved through descriptive statistics using Relative Importance Index (RII). A well-structured questionnaire was administered to the residents of public low-cost housing of Jigawa state, Nigeria. The results indicated that, the design of public low-cost housing in Jigawa State, Nigeria does not reflect the culture of the residents, most of the residents were not satisfied with it. In addition, out of fifty five (55) constructs from five (5) housing-related dimensions, the result identified thirty two (32) important attributes out of these, the residents considered twelve (12) to be the most important attributes affecting their well-being. Thus, the paper would serve as a blueprinted government, housing policy makers and housing developers to understand that, the housing constructions and infrastructural elements should reflect the cultural background of the beneficiaries. Views of beneficiaries before and after construction of public low-cost housing are of great importance. The findings of this paper were based on reviewed of earlier studies on residential-housing units, field work and research conducted on particularly the public low-cost housing in Jigawa State, Nigeria

One of the tools that indicate the relationship between concepts is the volume of concept. Volume of concept is displayed that the relations between the concepts of the subject are exhibited in a meaningful harmonious and circular manner in a certain order. The purpose of this research; to be able to determine the usefulness volume of concept, from association tools of concept, in educational process. A mixed method was used in this study. Frequency and percentage values were calculated using comparative samples in the quantitative aspect of the study. In the qualitative aspect of work was used structured interview form, face to face interviews which were identified to code-categories and analyzed the data. As a result of the work, students had difficulty in drawing the volume of concept but they had expressed that the volume of concept was clearer. Moreover, it was determined that the rate of preference volume of concept during the exam was low. It can be said that use of the ready-made form of the volume of concept was increases although a small proportion of students prefer concept volume when presented in the same way with another tools. Various suggestions have been made as a result of the research.

This article is dedicated to the problem of the lack of a systematic approach in the creation of financial and business plans at construction enterprises. The current policy in the field of long-term management does not imply the existence of a strictly regulated procedure. As a rule, this process each time has a new structure and a new toolkit. And given the current trend towards clustering in the construction sector, such a situation could adversely affect the further development of the entire industry. The article suggests a description of the multi-level management system of a construction enterprise. This system is based on comprehensive programs that allow, through a centralized management function, to streamline the process of solving the basic tasks facing the construction company in the framework of the entire construction industry. The program method proposed by the authors is an addition to the already used planning methods and allows to overcome the difficulties that arise in connection with the territorial concentration of the construction complex.
