Catfish cultivation development, Clarias gariepinus often occur constraints with the high cost of feed (60-70% of the production cost). Perhaps, the use of local raw materials such as the utilization of rejected chicken egg with high nutritional value, easy to obtain, and cheap price is one of the solution. The purpose of this research was to know the effect of addition of rejected chicken egg powder inprobiotized artificial feed on the efficiency of feed utilization, growth and survival rate of catfish, C. gariepinus. This study was used an experimental method with completely randomized design (RAL) by using 4 treatments and each of them 3 replications. The treatments were feed without use of rejected chicken egg powder (Treatment A), feed using 15%, 30%, and 45% of powder meals of rejected chicken egg as treatment B, C, and D, respectively. Catfish, C. gariepinus seeds were stocked with a mean weight of 2.04 ± 0.05 g with a density of 1 tail / L and cultured for 42 days. The data variables measured were Total of Feed Consumption (TFC), Feed Utilization Efficiency (FUE), Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR), Protein Efficiency Ratio (PER), Relative Growth Rate (RGR), and Survival Rate (SR). The results showed that the use of chicken egg starch in artificial feed gave a real effect (p <0.05) on TFC, FUE, FCR, PER, and RGR, but no significant effect (P≥0,05) on SR. Treatment with the addition of 30% chicken meal (Treatment C) had the best value for TFC at 146.87%, the FUE of 88.77%, the PER of 2.61% and the RGR of 7.65% / day than of the another treatments. Monitoring of water quality values on maintenance media has shown that at a reasonable range for the maintenance of catfish culture.

A study on the effect of feeding frequency on coral trout culture Plectropomus leopardus was conducted in floating net cages. The aim of this study was to determine an optimum feeding frequency for better growth rate and feed conversion ratio. The experiment was divided into two stages, i.e.; using fish with a range of body weight of 24 to 100 g (1st stage), and fish with a range of 100 to150 g (2nd stage). The first stage, consisted of four treatments of feeding frequencies, i.e. four times a day (4/1), three times a day (3/1), twice a day (2/1), and once a day (1/1). For the second stage experiment, the treatments applied were, three times a day (3/1), twice a day (2/1), once a day (1/1), and once in two days (1/2). Each treatment was in triplicate. At each feeding time, experimental fish were fed with dry pellets to apparent satiation. Both first and second experimental stages showed that the treatments of twice a day (2/1) feeding frequency attained significantly higher growth rates and lower feed conversion ratios than other treatments (P<0.05). Survival rate at the first stage (4/1), three times a day (3/1), twice a day (2/1), higher than (1/1) (P<0.05). But in the second stage the survival rate is not significant. The most optimum feeding frequencies for this species is 2/1 for the fish of 24 to 150 g BW.

ABSTRACT: The feeding frequencies on pacamã Lophiosilurus alexandri larviculture were evaluated. In the first phase, 10 days of active feeding, larvae with nine days post hatching (13.5 ± 0.7 mm) were stocked at density of 10 larvae L-1 in 5-L tanks each. The experimental treatments were: F2T (feeding 8h00 and 17h00); F2M (feeding 8h00 and 12h30); F3 (feeding 8h00, 12h30 and 17h00); and F4 (feeding 8h00, 11h00, 14h00 and 17h00). During this phase Artemia nauplii were used as food. In the second phase, during 15 days, juveniles were restocked in 20-L tanks at density of 2.2 juveniles L-1, and kept the same feeding frequencies of the first phase. Commercial dry diet containing 40% crude protein was used as food. No effect of feeding frequency on growth and survival, during both phases, was observed. However, survival decreases from the first to the second phase, showing the importance of the type of food. During the L. alexandri larviculture should be recommended twice a day feeding frequency.

Coral trout grouper (Plectropomus leopardus) is the prospective aquaculture commodities with a high demand. Fingerling culture is the one of shortly rearing time methods for grow out in net-cages in order to produce continuously. Two hundred fishes with initial total length 16.6±0.5 cm and 72.2±7.6 g of body weight were stocked in each of three of concrete tanks of 4m3 seawater. Water replace as a treatment was applied i.e. A (200%/day), B (300%/day) and C (400%/day).respectively. Feeding frequency of pellet was done twice a day of about 3 - 5% of body weight. Survival and growth of fishes were monitored during two-month period. The result showed that the different percentage of water replace had a significant role in increasing the growth and survival rate of the fishes. Water replaced of 400% daily (treatment C) gave the best survival rate (97%) and growth performance (TL 21.61±0,54 cm; BW 156.84±1.05 g). In contrast, the treatment B (300%/day) and A (200%/day) resulted in a lower survival and growth , i.e. (SR 95.5%; TL 19.51±0.52 cm; BW 140.96±0.08 g) and A (SR 93%; TL 19.08±0.30 cm; BW 132.2±2.65 g)., respectively. Keywords: Coral trout grouper, growth, survival rate, water exchange
