Chemistry is branch of science that is different because of chemical representations. The chemical representation made students assumed that chemistry is difficult. Students must master chemical representation to be able understand chemistry deeply. Besides, science process skills are crucial skills in learning chemistry, however, the students’ science process skills are rare to be involved. Chemical representation and science process skills have relationship each other. Nowadays, it was still difficult to find module could be used either face-to-face learning or online learning. Therefore, this study aimed to develop valid module integrated chemical representation and science process skills, and can be used in face-to-face learning and online learning (dual mode module) and to investigate teachers’ response about module. The research design used was ADDIE, data collected by using online validation form that was given to 6 validators to assess module based on suitability content, potential effectiveness, and overall satisfaction. To investigate chemistry teachers’ response to module, the online questionnaire given to teachers and it was further analyzed using percentage and compare to criteria of validity and criteria of response user. Th result found that module developed is valid with suitability content is 90.7%, potential effectiveness is 92%, and overall satisfaction is 92.5%. The chemistry teachers’ response showed that this module is very good criteria (92.36%). Therefore, dual mode module hopefully would be used in learning chemistry as media in face-to-face learning and online learning and also support chemical representation and science process skills among students.

AbstractThis study introduces the Kitchen Chemistry (KC) course and its influences on chemistry education as a whole. KC is considered to be a life-relevant learning environment that engages learners in science through the pursuit of personally relevant and meaningful goals. KC, as a form of interdisciplinary learning, aims to develop boundary-crossing skills and to support the development of pupils’ scientific thinking. The purpose of this research was to determine how KC as a context-based teaching approach applies to chemistry education and what it offers to chemistry teaching and teacher education. We found that KC gave lower secondary school pupils the opportunity to understand the chemical phenomena in a familiar context. Teachers of visiting groups saw that integration is the challenge: pupils often see the subjects of chemistry and home economics as separate entities. The chemistry education students highlighted real-world connections to chemistry concepts and contexts. They also found KC to be an interesting form of teaching chemistry. According to the KC course teachers, the students were motivated and excited, and provided positive feedback on the course. These findings suggest that teachers and teacher education students need to be guided in actively using integration.

This research is motivated by the learning process carried out in class V of SD Negeri 8 Metro Timur, SD Negeri 1 Metro Barat, SD Negeri 1 Metro Utara dan SD Negeri 5 Metro Pusat. The implementation of the learning process carried out by teachers who generally still use conventional learning methods and models that are only fixated on books and more teacher-centered, students listen to explanations from the teacher, take notes, memorize information and work on problems. practice questions rather than doing practical activities through experiments or experiments. As a result, the learning process becomes less attractive and seems monotonous because students tend to be passive and less participatory in learning activities. Teachers lack innovation in the use of active and innovative methods or learning models that are more student centered. That is, learning that provides more opportunities for students to construct independently the process of understanding material through a more active learning process through search activities and problem solving. In response to this, researchers conduct learning using a project based learning learning model with the aim of improving students' science process skills and scientific literacy skills. The purpose of this study was to describe the influence of the PjBL model on process skills and scientific literacy skills. The type of this study is quasi-experimental research using the design of nonequivalent groups pre test-post test from Fraenkel and Wallen. The design of nonequivalent groups pre test - post test was started by setting the experimental group and the control group, then doing the pre test, followed by giving treatment to the two classes and ending with a post test. The subjects in this study were fifth grade elementary school students in Metro City. Data collection techniques in the form of tests. The research instrument is a spatial literacy test sheet. Data were analyzed using normality test and Mann Whitney test. The results of this study indicate that the PjBL model can improve science process skills and higher scientific literacy skills compared to groups of students who get conventional learning. Keywords: skills of science literacy, skills of science process, elementary students.

ANALYSIS OF STUDENT SCIENCE PROCESS SKILLS THROUGH ECOLOGICAL PRACTICUMS AbstractThe study aims to analyze students' science process skills in ecology practical activities. The research subjects were 37 students. Data is collected through performance appraisals. The results showed that the science process skills of students were of high category. The score of observing activity skills was 11.49, formulating a problem of 10.59, identifying variables by 10.81, and making conclusions of 10.02. The skills scores for formulating hypotheses are high (10.47), but low in defining aspects of operational variables (6.19), designing experiments (6.53), and analyzing data/information (6.64). Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the ecology practicum activities that have been carried out can improve the science process skills of prospective teacher students in the aspects of observing, formulating problem formulations, identifying variables, and compiling inferences. Based on these findings, several recommendations are stated, first; Science process skills (SPS) must be taught continuously to biology majors because they are a major part of the education curriculum. Also, it must focus more on integrated skills. Second, pay attention to low SPS student teacher candidates' still exists, so it needs to be trained intensively in the low SPS because the SPS (defining operational variables, designing experiments, and analyzing data) is an SPS that is closely related to knowledge formation and problem solving.
