The objectives of this research were as follows: the development of a MOOCs knowledge repository system using a digital knowledge engineering process, and a competency assessment of digital entrepreneurs engaging in a MOOCs knowledge repository system using a digital knowledge engineering process. A total of 30 people were selected as a sampling group (purposive sampling) for this study, these included Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Bangkok with expertise in Human Performance Technology (HPT), as well as the MOOCs knowledge repository system. The mean, standard deviation, percentage, and a dependent sample t-test were used in the procedure for data analysis. The research findings suggested that: (1) the overall result concerning the development of a MOOCs knowledge repository system using a digital knowledge engineering process was at the highest level (Mean = 4.89, S.D. = 0.31), and (2) the overall result regarding the competencies of digital entrepreneurs after engaging in a MOOCs knowledge repository system using a digital knowledge engineering process passed the 80% rating, according to criteria. Moreover, learners who had undertaken activities through a MOOCs knowledge repository system using a digital knowledge engineering process improved their learning outcomes with a significance level of .05 based on the research hypothesis.

Micro, small and medium enterprises (UMKM) is one important part of the economy of a country or region. This important role has encouraged many countries including Indonesia to continue to develop UMKM. Although small in scale the number of workers, assets and turnover, but because of the large enough amount, the role of UMKM is quite important in supporting the economy. The success of UMKM is a factor supporting the improvement of various businesses, both micro, small and medium enterprises, especially in Gresik City. This study aims to determine the effect of entrepreneurial spirit, creativity and business location on the business success. of UKM. The method used in this research is quantitative method, the population of this research is 51 UKM. The analysis techn ique used is multiple linear regression analysis followed by t test with significance level 0,05. The results showed that the entrepreneurial spirit , creativity and business locat ions individually and simultaneous significantly affect the business success.

The knowledge repository management system architecture of digital knowledge engineering using machine learning (KRMS-SWE) to promote software engineering competencies is comprised of four parts, as follows: 1) device service, 2) application service, 3) module service of the KRMS-SWE and 4) machine learning service and storage unit. The knowledge creation, storage, testing and assessing of students’ knowledge in software engineering is carried out using a knowledge verification process with machine learning and divided into six steps, as follows: pre-processing, filtration, stemming, indexing, data mining and interpretation and evaluation. The overall result regarding the suitability of the KRMS-SWE is assessed by five experts who have high levels of experience in related fields. The findings reveal that this research approach can be applied to the future development of the KRMS-SWE.

Free/Open Source software (FOSS) has made Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems more accessible for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) including overseas subsidiaries of large companies. However, the consulting required to configure an ERP to meet the specific needs of an organization remains a major financial and organizational burden for SMEs. Automatic ERP package configuration based on knowledge engineering, machine learning and data mining could be a solution to lessen the burden of the implementation process. This chapter presents two approaches to an automation of selected configuration options of the FOS-ERP package ERP5. These approaches are based on knowledge engineering with decision trees and machine learning with classifiers. The design of the ERP5 Artificial intelligence Toolkit (EAT) aims at the integration of these approaches into ERP5. The chapter also shows how FOS-ERP can boost Information System (IS) research. The investigation of the automation approaches was only possible because the free source code and technical documentation of ERP5 was accessible for TU Dresden researchers.

This paper examined the determinants of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) growth in the Tamale Metropolis, Ghana using logistic regression. Growth was measured based on three key performance indicators of gross profits, employment and asset levels.Logistic regressions were estimated to identify the determinants of growth for each of the performance indicators. A survey was conducted on 199 women owned enterprises in the Tamale Metropolis of Ghana that had accessed micro credit from 2010 - 2014. The relationship between the performance indicators and a set of explanatory variables grouped into entrepreneur characteristics, business profile, loan and banking profile and enterprise size were considered. The results showed that entrepreneur characteristics and business profile significantly predicts the growth in gross profits of the SMEs. Specifically the person(s) put in charge of the day-to-day running of the business enterprise had a significant relationship with the growth in gross profit of the enterprise at the 1% significance level whilst household size of entrepreneur was significant at the 5% level. However, employment and asset growth were not significantly predicted by the explanatory variables at both the 1 and 5 % levels.

Purpose: The main purpose of the study was to assess the effects of interest rate on credit access of small and medium enterprises’ in Garissa County.Methodology: A descriptive survey was employed in this study. The target population of this study was 10 SACCOs and 150 SMEs registered within Garissa County. Primary data was collected from respondents via structured questionnaires. The descriptive statistics was analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) Version 20.0 and presented in the report in the form of tables, bar charts and graphs. Correlation and regression analysis was done to establish the relationship between the variables. Results: The results showed that interest rate policy was significantly related to credit access since its p-value (0.000) was less than the significance level of 0.05. The findings implied that a change in interest rate policy by one unit could result to positive variation of 0.70 units in credit access.Unique contribution to theory, practice and policy: Based on the study findings, the study concluded that SACCO’s interest rate policy affect SMEs accessibility to credit. The study recommended that SACCOs should consider revising their policy on interest rate charged. The study also recommended that County government should intervene to ensure that SMEs have access to financial services to enable them contribute to development and employment creation. The study validates the Credit access theory and its applicability in financing SME’s firms.
