Evaluating e-Learning Initiatives

Evaluation aspects, in relation to e-learning initiatives, are gaining substantial attention. As technology continuously influences learning, technical as well as organizational requirements need to be thoroughly investigated across a variety of stakeholders. In this paper, an outline of those aspects is presented, which occurred from a literature review on methods and research frameworks utilized toward the evaluation of e-learning initiatives. The review identified a series of studies that take advantage of well-established theories in the area of users’ acceptance of technology combined with additional, e-learning context-specific factors. Results of the review are presented, according to the adopted research model, to ease the process of locating and retrieving e-learning evaluation paradigms per theoretical model. In addition, research findings are discussed and future implications for e-learning evaluation initiatives as well as potential stakeholders are highlighted.

Aim/Purpose: The aim of this study is to develop a research model derived from relevant literature to guide empirical efforts. Background: Companies struggle to innovate, which is essential for improving their performance, surviving in competition, and growing. A number of studies have discussed company innovation capability, stating that innovation capability is influenced by several variables such as cooperation and knowledge management. Therefore, further research is necessary to identify factors playing a role in enhancing innovation capability. Methodology: This study is based on systematic literature review. The stages are: (1) research scope review, (2) comprehensive online research, (3) journal quality assessment, (4) data extraction from journals, (5) journal synthesis, and (6) comprehensive report. The online research used Google Scholar database, by browsing titles, abstracts, and keywords to locate empirical research studies in peer-reviewed journals published in 2010-2020. Furthermore, 62 related articles were found, of which 38 articles were excluded from further analysis and 24 articles were selected because they were more related to the topic. Contribution: The results of this study enrich the research in the field of knowledge management, cooperation, and innovation capability by developing a conceptual framework of innovation capability. The proposed theoretical model may be fundamental in addressing the need of a research model to guide further empirical efforts. Findings: This study provides a research model derived from systematically reviewing relevant literature. The proposed theoretical model was done by incorporating the aspects of knowledge management, cooperation, and innovation capability. The model shows that knowledge management and cooperation are essential aspects of innovation capability. Furthermore, this study also provides the dimensions and sub dimensions of each variable that was established after synthesizing the literature review. Recommendations for Practitioners: Business practitioners can use the identified predictors of innovation capability and the dimensions of each variable to explore their company’s innovation capability. They can also take the relevant variables into consideration when making policies regarding innovation. Recommendation for Researchers: The theoretical model proposed in this study needs validation with further empirical investigation. Impact on Society: Readers of this paper can obtain an understanding that knowledge management and cooperation are essential aspects to consider in enhancing innovation capability. Future Research: Future studies should explore other dimensions of knowledge management and cooperation through alternative approaches and perspectives.

The purpose of this study was trying to explore the influence and relationship between knowledge transfer usefulness, management, initiative, and innovation. The instrument was constructed through literature review and related research scales. Total 26 items were retrieved from related study and modified dependent on exports' recommendations. Total 1,012 valid data were collected based on judgment sampling. The Cronbach's a of instrument was ranged from .878 to .948. The construction validity test was passed. The analysis result shows that knowledge management play strong partial mediator role between knowledge transfer usefulness and knowledge innovation, meanwhile, knowledge transfer usefulness was also the important predictor to knowledge innovation. Hence, the proactive knowledge transfer has moderation effects between knowledge management and knowledge innovation. The research model was established and some conclusions and suggestions were discussed base on the research findings.

Mobile media support our autonomy by connecting us to persons, contents and services independently of time and place constraints. At the same time, they challenge our autonomy: We face struggles, decisions and pressure in relation to whether, when and where we connect and disconnect. Digital wellbeing is a new concept that refers to the (lack) of balance that we may experience in relation to mobile connectivity. This article develops a theoretical model of digital wellbeing accounting for the dynamic and complex nature of our relationship to mobile connectivity, thereby overcoming conceptual and methodological limitations associated with existing approaches. This model considers digital wellbeing an experiential state of optimal balance between connectivity and disconnectivity that is contingent upon a constellation of person-, device- and context-specific factors. These constellations represent pathways to digital wellbeing that – when repeated –affect wellbeing outcomes. Digital wellbeing interventions are effective when they disrupt these pathways.

The purpose of this chapter is to describe the wide literature review made on computer mediated learning. Online Education system may include models and methodologies based on learning theories that support individual styles and contexts. The use of e-learning environment is limited only by the creativity. If we just decide for providing online contents, even if they are well constructed, at long term it may become uninteresting and based only on theory. We cannot state that e-learning has either more or less quality than traditional learning. E-learning quality depends on the instruction design and on the students engagement. In this review of literature, the authors combine different points of view. A theoretical model that emerged from the inquiry made will be showed and may support the integration of technologies, in order to enhance the learning.

E-learning has been widely used as a prominent solution to provide on demand learning opportunities to reduce training time and cost. While e-learning acceptance has received a significant attention in academic/student domain, little research has been conducted in organizational setting. This paper aims to contribute to understanding the underlying factors which influence employees' intention towards using e-learning systems, through developing and proposing a conceptual research model based on one of the most comprehensive behavioral theory, the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT). The proposed conceptual model first examines the native UTAUT constructs and then, by borrowing insight from other theories in the literature, expands the UTAUT theory to account for more context-specific e-learning factors in a workplace setting, namely, perceived organizational support, e-learning self-efficacy, perceived e-learning content quality and e-learning satisfaction. The paper also identifies directions for an empirical examination of the proposed research model in future.

COVID-19 outbreak has stimulated all kind of e-learning proposals to con-tinue with students’ educational progression. Despite the fact it is significant to understand students’ perceptions regarding their performance with collab-orative tools, specifically interactive smartboards, no research was found during the exhaustive literature review conducted. A research model has been pre-tested using a sample of students of the Faculty of Commerce and Tourism of the Complutense University of Madrid. The results of this ex-ploratory research expose that (1) playfulness has a significant and positive impact om intention to use; (2) interestingness of content has a meaningful effect on perceived playfulness; and (3) perceived ease of use has consider-able and positive influence on playfulness. Besides, perceived ease of use and usefulness were not found to have a direct impact on intention to use. The results are revised to propose useful academic and educational contribu-tions.

The development of information technology has spawned the innovation of learning technology, one of which is the application of E-learning that develops along the paradigm of learning changes. Implementation of E-learning in addition to providing benefits are also still faced with various problems that become challenges in the application of E-learning resulting in a variety of perceptions that develop in society. This article aims to describe the opportunities, challenges, and implementation of E-learning in Indonesia. This paper is a literature review by using relevant sources related to theoretical and empirical reviews of E-learning challenges, opportunities, and implementation. Sources of theoretical reviews use books, other documents on E-learning, while for empirical reviews using research results published in scientific journals.
