Neonatal jaundice is a common problem in the care of normal newborns. West Pasaman Regional Hospital data states that in 2018 there were 41 cases of neonatal jaundice out of 369 deliveries. The research objective was to determine the effect of exclusive breastfeeding and phototherapy on the incidence of neonatal jaundice. The research method is retrospective, namely conducting research on past events. The research was conducted at RSUD Pasaman Barat with a population of 20 people. Sampling was done by total sampling technique, so that the sample size is 20 people. Data collection was carried out by means of observation at the West Pasaman Regional Hospital. The approach used is cross sectional, namely independent and dependent data collection is done at the same time. The data that has been collected is then processed manually and analyzed by computerized univariate and bivariate analysis. This type of research is descriptive with a cross sectional design. The study population was all babies in West Pasaman Regional Hospital with a total of 41 people, the sample size was determined by the total sampling so that the sample was 41 people. The data was collected by means of a documentation study using a checklist. Data processing was carried out by univariate computerization. The results showed that as many as 13 respondents (31.7%) were breast-fed, 63.4% were carried out with phototherapy and 24.4% of respondents had neonatal jaundice. Based on the bivariate analysis obtained p value 0.049 (Breastfeeding) and 0.001 (Phototherapy). The results of the Chi Square test, it can be concluded that there is an effect of breastfeeding and phototherapy on the incidence of neonatal jaundice

This study investigates the challenges associated with postgraduate students’ awareness and use of online journals in Nigerian universities. The study adopted the descriptive survey design. The population of the study comprised 10, 775 registered postgraduate students in federal and state universities in south-south zone of Nigeria. Based on the Krejcie and Morgan sample size determination table, a sample size of 370 postgraduate students were chosen for the study. The questionnaire was the instrument used for data collection. Copies of the questionnaire were distributed by hand by the researchers with the help of research assistants. Mean and standard deviation were used to analyse the data from the questionnaire. The major findings challenges associated with postgraduate students’ awareness and use of online journals were identified to include absence of enlightenment on online journals by lecturers (𝑋̅2.94,SD=.87), lack of knowledge of publishers of online journals (𝑋̅2.67,SD=.98), lack of user education on online journals from university libraries (𝑋̅2.80,SD=.93), inadequate computer systems in university libraries (𝑋̅3.58,SD=.73), frequent power outages in libraries (𝑋̅3.48,SD=.66), and slow internet connectivity in university libraries (𝑋̅2.96,SD=.94) among others. Respondents in the study proffered several strategies for enhancing awareness and use of online journals. Based on the findings, it was recommended that the cost of data bundle should be reduced by Internet service providers, particularly for postgraduate students to enhance the use of online journals. University libraries should engage in aggressive awareness campaign on online journals and their usefulness for effective research in universities. Additionally, university libraries should create a database of open access online journals to enable users search full text articles online from various publishers. Research findings in secondary schools have consistently indicated that geometry is one of the most difficult areas of Mathematics at basic level and students’ attitude towards it has been a factor that is known to influence students’ achievement in mathematics. The purpose of this study is to investigate the level of students’ attitude towards geometry and to find out whether gender difference influences such attitude. Some selected secondary schools in Zamfara state were used for the study. The study adopted a descriptive survey design using a questionnaire tagged Geometric Attitude Questionnaire. The population of the study consisted of SS I students in Zamfara state. A sample of 157students was drawn using simple random sampling technique. Descriptive statistics of means and standard deviations were used to answer the research questions while Inferential Statistics of the Mann-Whitney test was used to test the formulated hypothesis. The study revealed that students’ attitude towards geometry was relatively high generally, with male students having much higher positive attitude to geometry than their female counterparts and that difference between them was not statistically significant at α = 0.05 level of significance. It is recommended that teachers should be resourceful in encouraging and helping students in order to build positive attitude by trying to relate geometry to real life situations and also be gender sensitive.

This study was carried out to investigate teachers’ perceived communication instructional skill for improving teaching in Enugu State, Nigeria. The study was guided by two research questions. The descriptive survey design was adopted for the study. The sample size of the study is 1,196 teachers. Multistage sampling technique was used in the selection of the sample size. The instrument used for data collection was the Teachers’ Perceived Communication Instructional Skills Questionnaire (TPCISQ). To ensure the reliability of the instrument, a trial test was conducted by administering 30 copies of the questionnaire to 30 public primary school teachers in Awka, Anambra State, which is outside the study area. Cronbach Alpha was used to determine the internal consistency of the items. Result of the analysis yielded an overall coefficients value of 0.87. The data collected in the study were analyzed using mean and standard deviation. Based on the findings of the study, it was revealed that teachers need the following communication skills: listening to the pupils attentively when they ask questions; giving proper feedback to the questions raised by the pupils; repeating instructions orally or in writing and so on.

Leishmaniasis has spread beyond the traditional areas of the Rift Valley and North Eastern provinces. There is more evidence of emergence and spread of leishmaniasis in Western Kenya. However, there is currently no comprehensive study on knowledge, attitude and prevention practices on leishmaniasis among the risk populations in the endemic Mount Elgon region of western Kenya. This has hindered the protocol for understanding the epidemiology of leishmaniasis. The descriptive survey design study was carried out from April to June, 2019 and it sought for information on KAP related to cutaneous leishmaniasis (C.L) in Mount Elgon region. Using stratified simple random sampling technique, a total of 340 household participants were selected in the study area. Structured questionnaire was used to collect the data. Regarding the responses given to knowledge, attitude and practice, a score of 1 was given for each right response and 0 for unsure responses. Data analysis was conducted using IBM SPSS version 23 statistical software. Descriptive statistics that include frequency and percentage were used to analyze the results. Out of 340 individuals were participated in our study 214 (62.9%) of the participants were males and 126 (37.1%) were females. The result of the present study in terms of knowledge showed that most of the respondents scored less than four items out of six correctly, hence described as having poor knowledge of CL. With regard to attitude respondents believed that CL was a problem in their area and had positive attitude towards the treatment of the disease. The study also found out that majority of the respondents practiced well, as indicated by scoring positively in more than three items. In terms of plants used in the treatment of the disease, Olea europaea, Kigelia Africana, Terminial mollis, Croton macrostachyus, Tylosema fassoglense and Bridella micrantha were mentioned. It was concluded that, people were less knowledgeable, had positive attitude towards the treatment especially using plant extracts could act as the basis for future research on alternative drugs against the disease.
