Managing queuing within the banking business in Nigeria has constituted major challenges whose effects have not been thoroughly examined. This study sets to investigate the continuous queuing in the Nigerian banking environment despite e-banking adoption in Nigeria. The research adopted a survey design where primary data were obtained using a structured questionnaire. Fifty (50) respondents were purposively chosen. A purposive sampling technique was used which considered banks having branches within Ladoke Akintola University of Technology and Ogbomoso town. OLS regression was used to determine the influence of electronic banking on customers queuing the factors for queuing in the banking environment amid e-banking adoption at 0.05 level of significance. Findings revealed that queue in the study area was most of the time very high in the morning, high in the afternoon and evening while at night, most time witnessed no queue. Electronic banking had a significant influence on customers’ queuing in the study area. Further, Tendency to Hold Cash by banks customers (THC), Poor Internet Infrastructure (PII), Cybercrime (CC) were the major factors causing bank customer queue in the banking environment in Nigeria, followed by Inadequate of Banking Technology Management (IBTM) and E-Banking Transaction Cost (EBTC). Therefore, banks service providers should increase efforts on cashless e-banking services and ensure reliable internet service at all times. Bank customers should be made to appreciate other e-banking services than ATM and allay fear on tendency to hold cash.

The proliferation of unsolicited commercial electronic mail (UCE) or spam is becoming a global concern for many organizations. This chapter explores issues of unsolicited email, the cost and loss of productivity, the impact of UCE and computer viruses, privacy concerns, electronic mail filters, attempts to control spam, and legislative action. A strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) analysis was also applied in this study. The results of a survey concerning the perceptions of UCE are presented. The results clearly show that while the respondents find spam annoying, they spend very little time in dealing with it. Although the respondents express the need to control spam, they do not believe that governmental control is the solution, but rather that Internet Service Providers and organizations should take the responsibility for controlling unsolicited email. Lastly, the respondents are very unlikely to open, let alone read and respond to unsolicited email. The results of this study will be useful for guiding organizational, university, and public policies.

Innovation has become one area that requires careful examination in today’s university libraries. Because innovation is one of the attributes of knowledge management, and knowledge management in itself is a survival strategy for university libraries facing challenges, it has become necessary to empirically determine the extent of involvement of librarians in knowledge management activities in federal university libraries in Nigeria. The aim of this study, therefore, is to determine the knowledge management activities of librarians in library services as well as the extent to which their involvement can be explained by their personal characteristics with a view to proposing a model for library service improvement through knowledge management. The study is a descriptive survey design. Responses to a structured questionnaire developed by the researchers were received from 200 librarians. The questionnaire was entitled, ‘Knowledge Management in Library Service Questionnaire, KMLSQ’. It was validated by experts and its reliability index was calculated as 0.91 using Cronbach alpha procedure. The data collected were analysed using Percentages, Mean, Standard Deviation and Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation Coefficient. This analysis was done with Statistical Packages for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 24.0. The results showed that librarians in university libraries in Nigeria were involved to a large extent in knowledge identification, acquisition, creation and dissemination. The results also revealed that only education and work experience correlated significantly with knowledge management activities of the librarians. The study concluded by proposing a conceptual model of knowledge management as a service delivery tool.

This paper examines the availability of Internet services in Higher Learning Institutions (HLIs) for developing countries such as Ghana, with respect to the cost and usage. We looked at the source of Internet services and the bandwidth package for some Higher Learning Institutions in Accra, Ghana. One of the key objectives of this study is to design and simulates an efficient Internet bandwidth usage for Higher Learning Intuitions. We examined the cost of bandwidth package offered by the Internet service providers to these higher institutions. In looking at the cost we also included the bandwidth packages offered, the type of Internet connection and the service level agreement with the ISPs. In the study, we looked at how the Internet is distributed to these institutions and the equipment used in the distribution of the Internet services. Ipswich Whatsup Gold software was used to monitor the network infrastructure for one of the institutions in the study. We went further to monitor the bandwidth consumption for Ghana Technology University College, one of the institutions in the study, to monitor their bandwidth consumption and traffic flow in the network. In designing an efficient bandwidth management for the Higher Learning Institution, we model and configured a network in Packet tracer using a proxy cache box. This technique allows for an efficient bandwidth planning capacity to manage the bandwidth consumptions. At the end of the study, we modeled a network using cache box to restrict and minimize bandwidth usage and thus making it less expensive for the Higher Learning Institutions.
