Evaluating Higher Education Institutions through Agency and Resource-Capabilities Theories

The objective of this chapter is to explain through the agency theory and theory of resources and capacities as is the process of assessment in higher education institutions. A model is presented to measure the perception of service quality by students of the Technological Institute of Celaya, as part of the system of quality control, based on the theoretical support of several authors who have developed this topic (SERVQUAL and SERPERF) an instrument adapted to the student area of the institution called SERQUALITC is generated. The paper presents the areas or departments to assess and the convenient size, the number of items used by size and Likert scale, the validation study instrument is mentioned. Finally, it is presented the model that poses a global vision of quality measurement process including corrective action services that enable continuous improvement.

The actors that are involved in the decision-making and the use that is giving the resources derived from repeatedly to practices that opportunistic diminishing the value that is given to the evaluation, in addition to the decrease in team work. The Article attempts to analyze service quality in higher education institutions of Malaysia. The study used the Gap Model presented by Parasuraman et al. (1985, 1988) to identify the difference between expected quality and perceived quality in higher education institutions of Malaysia. The study focused to identify gaps of Turkish students in Malaysian universities Five basic dimensions of service quality measured through SERVQUAL (Instrument for service quality measurement). These dimensions are tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy. A stratified sample of 41 Turkish students has been selected from top five public universities in Malaysia. Results showed a negative service quality gap in higher education institutions of Malaysia from Turkish students’ perception which indicated perceived service quality is below than expectations of Turkish students in Malaysian universities.

The implementation of Kaizen had widely been adopted in many organizations. Higher Education Institutions (HEI) is one of the organizations that there is no exception in practicing Kaizen to enhance the continuous improvement in their education institution performance. The objective of this study is to identify the Kaizen practices among accounting students and lecturers in Azman Hashim International Business School. The researcher will use a quantitative approach by distributing questionnaires to obtain data from respondents. The researcher concludes that Kaizen practices are suitable to be implemented in higher education institution because it gives huge advantages towards the entire organizational performance. Education institutions should guide the Kaizen practices to create a culture of ongoing improvement to improve the education system from time to time in the future.

Entrepreneurship has impacts on countries, generating jobs and socioeconomic development. In Mexico, from the 1980s, Higher Education Institutions develop entrepreneurship and self-employment promotion programs, to promote entrepreneurial philosophy among their students. In the State of Veracruz, since 2015 the Higher Technological Institute of Zongolica has developed the Social Entrepreneur and Self-Employment (SES) program. The objective of this research is to conduct a study of the perception of university entrepreneurs on the impact of the SES school program on their companies, in the municipality of Tehuipango, Veracruz. For which a questionnaire was designed, applied and validated to a population of 32 graduates of the entrepreneur program. It is concluded that the respondents agree with being entrepreneurs, consider having influenced socioeconomically in their municipality and perceive that the social entrepreneur and self-employment program influenced their level of entrepreneurship. Finally, it was identified the need to create a program of accompaniment to companies, as support so that they continue operating in the market.
