This article is devoted to the development of a model for enhancing the development of the mineral fertilizer industry, which involves the use of a sequentially-parallel approach to implement state support measures and digital transformation of enterprises in this industry. Currently, there is a growing influence of Industry 4.0 and digital technologies on enterprises of the mineral fertilizer industry. These enterprises are of strategically important economic interest for the national economy, as they are objects whose hallmarks are their large-scale, high-tech, high level of dependence on environmental conditions. An analysis of the level of development of the mineral fertilizer industry made it possible to identify a high level of export orientation of the products of enterprises in this industry. The digital transformation of the mineral fertilizer industry is currently hampered by the one-sidedness of the adopted state programs for the development of the industry, which are based on an extensive increase in production capacities that can gradually solve the problem of physical deterioration of fixed assets, but which does not provide an effective institutional environment that stimulates the creation of innovations and the introduction of digital technologies. While the experience of leading countries indicates that the implementation of the Industry 4.0 concept, aimed at the widespread adoption of digitalization processes, can increase the organization’s innovative potential and ensure the world level of competitiveness of mineral fertilizer products. A model for enhancing the development of the mineral fertilizer industry is proposed, based on the use of a sequentially-parallel method in the development and implementation of a set of measures, the implementation of which covers all levels of management both to create and maintain a favorable innovative climate in the framework of macroeconomics as a whole, and to develop the interaction of participants in the industry level and at the level of industrial enterprises themselves.

We have a diverse set of descriptions referred to as the “fourth industrial revolution”, Industry 4.0, or the “digital” or “new economy”, indicating that there is a seismic shift under way. Due to digital transformation arising from the combined effect of several digital technologies including IoT, 5G, cloud, blockchain, big data and artificial intelligence, companies today are being transformed, and for many, this transformation comes in ways that they have not experienced before. This may mean that firms entering new markets with digital technologies may be less dependent on mediators and be able to control the delivery of their products or services, while new entrants are likely to gain advantages from exploiting digital platforms. The chapter lays out how the classic principles of international competitive strategy are transformed in today’s markets due to digitalization and provides suggestions in terms of how firms, and particularly multinational enterprises (MNEs), can respond to these transformations.

The fourth industrial revolution (Industry 4.0) with the breakthrough of internet and artificial intelligence has had a strong impact, changing all aspects of global socio-economic life. Digital transformation in the spread of Industry 4.0 is no longer a choice but has become an inevitable development trend for businesses to truly stand up to the times. Digital transformation is the transformation of business activities, processes, products, and models to fully leverage the opportunities of digital technologies, characterised by development, growth, innovation, and disruption. In particular, "digital disruption" is the situation when new technology competes with the traditional business way that we now often refer to under the concepts of cloud computing, big data, and internet of things (IoT). This competition will help businesses utilise digitised data and processes to create a new model that is more efficient and convenient. Digital technologies in oil and gas companies can have a significant business impact as it contributes to increasing hydrocarbon recovery, ensuring safety across the business ecosystem, and improving operational reliability. This paper addresses the oil and gas industry’s trends in digital transformation and the initiatives at Bien Dong POC.
