Over the past two decades, social media has developed exponentially and significantly changed the customers' shopping behavior. Social media apps enable customers to interact with retailers and other customers closely, and influences their purchase decision. Hence, it is small wonder that businesses are investing time and resources to promote their products and brand image on social media applications. Instagram is best known for its enriched visual features in both image and footage and suitable for developing strong brand engagement. It is a viable platform for businesses to promote their products to customers. This chapter proposes a framework of product learning process with the use of Instagram. It contributes in effective management of social media marketing and provides marketers with the guidelines in using Instagram creatively to roll out customer engagement strategies.

Social media has made it possible for users to exchange information and discuss theiropinions and experiences about products or services through online on their social mediaplatform with their peers. This kind of communication is called as electronic word-of-mouth(e-WOM) where the information can be spread faster and has the potential for greaterimpact on consumers purchase decision. Therefore, the aim of this research is to know theeffect of e-WOM (including quality and quantity of e-WOM as well as sender’s expertise) insocial media on consumers’ purchase decisions moderated by brand image. The researchmethodology used for this study is a case study with survey research method. Conveniencesampling technique derived from non-probability sampling techniques are used for sampleselection. The sample of this research is 175, from people who have purchased and usedEtude House product. Statistical software SPSS and AMOS is used to analyze the data. Thefindings in this area will help Etude House and other marketers to reach out its potentialcustomers and align their marketing effort in efficient way by pay attention on the marketingpolicies about eWOM. The limitations of the research is some respondents not read andanswer the question clearly and made it not represent their exact perception.

Costumer engagement is a multidimensional concept which develops over the time and is widely studied in the literature of marketing. Consumers attached to the brand tend to be more involved in behaviors that support the brand. On the other side, brand-self connection is an important element in consumer-brand relationship being part of brand attachment, where social media have a special role. Playfulness and informativeness of video have a significant impact on the value of social media ads, and the authors present the relationship between these two variables and customer engagement. The study will present an investigation with 235 Portuguese individuals during the months of confinement justified by the pandemic COVID-19. The results show that customer engagement depends on informativeness, playfulness, and brand-self connection. Throughout this empirical study, they show that social media brand engagement is explained by these variables. This chapter enhances knowledge on costumer engagement, brand-self connection, and video informativeness and playfulness, supporting new researches in this topic.

The research aims to examine the factors that form brand awareness and brand image of the tourism sector in Indonesia by using the model social media marketing on TikTok platform. The research was conducted quantitative methods using a survey of 220 respondents who were users of the TikTok application. Data collection was carried out from April to May 2021, and processed using Structural Equation Model Partial Least Square (SEM PLS). Convenience sampling was used in this research. The results show that entertainment, electronic word of mouth, and interaction positively affect consumer brand engagement. Trendiness and customization do not affect consumer brand engagement. Furthermore, consumer brand engagement positively affects brand loyalty, brand awareness, and brand image. The implication of this research is a reference for managers and policymakers in formulating strategies to improve the tourism sector in Indonesia using the model Social Media Marketing on TikTok.

The study explores how social media marketing activities build brand loyalty and how this relationship is mediated through brand consciousness. The empirical investigation involves a self-administered and a structured questionnaire, distributed through a convenience sample of 320 under-graduate and graduate students. Data analysis was conducted through SPSS 23.0 for demographic comparisons and SmartPLS 3 for evaluating the measurement and structural model of the study. The findings show that social media marketing has a significant positive influence on brand loyalty but this relationship is partially mediated by brand consciousness. In the same manner, social media marketing exerts a significant positive impact on brand consciousness and resultantly, brand consciousness also exerts a significant positive impact on brand loyalty.  The results provide valuable insights for marketers in integrating social media as a driving tool for developing brand engagement strategies that not only provide awareness about products/services but also generate a cult following for them.

Since 2004 when Myspace was converted from a file storage service to a social networking site, social media has become an integral part of people's everyday experiences. Social media has also come to play an influential role in business. The purpose of this chapter is to introduce the Five-Sources Model of Brand Value that illustrates the importance of functional, emotional, self-oriented, social, and relational brand consumption experiences helping different organisations get a clear sense of where they can add value to their marketing communication strategies on social media. The model is consumer-centered and is grounded in consumers' experiences collected through interviews and Facebook focus group. This chapter is based on an on-going project that first started as a Masters research in 2011. It has continued with conferences and academic papers, in conjunction with consulting and lecturing on social media applications in New Zealand business and education context.

A micro-celebrity is a person who has transformed from an ordinary person to a celebrity. Many organizations use micro-celebrities for advertising their products as they get to reach a larger audience easily. Micro-celebrities not only get popularity but also get to earn revenue; the desire for social media fame is found in many youths (Generation Z) today. The current study throws light on the perception of Generation Z towards micro-celebrities, identifies the influence of micro-celebrities on customer engagement, and explores micro-celebrity as an emerging career option for Generation Z. Major findings reveal that Generation Z follows micro-celebrities to stay updated with trends. Though association with micro-celebrities gives companies better customer reach, the influence of micro-celebrities on the purchase decision is uncertain. Many Generation Z individuals aspire to be micro-celebrities; however, when it comes to a career choice, some prefer to take it as a side hustle.

Business competition that is getting stonger makes SME (Small Medium Enterprise) must be able to compete. Batik is one of SME that has influence in economic growth. The enterpreneurs have to compete with competitiors. This study aims to examine  the influence of media sosial, electronic word of mouth, and brand image on purchase decision through purchase intention at Poeniko Batik Pekalongan store. The population in this study is consumers of Poeniko Batik Pekalongan. The number of samples used in this study were 100 people using the incidental sampling method. The data collection method uses documentation and questionnaires. The results showed that the electronic word of mouth, brand image and purchase variables had a positive and significant effect on purchasing decisions. While social media variables do not have a positive and significant effect on purchasing decisions. The results of the path analysis test indicate that purchase intention can mediate the influence of social media, electronic word of mouth, and brand image on purchasing decisions.


The paper investigates the effect of technology-based applications on brand image in the telecommunications industry. The study aims to identify the most influencing technology-based application on brand image and areas of improvements for each application. The study proposes a model that shows the effect of certain applications on brand image in the telecommunications industry. A quantitative survey was used for data collection to support the model. The research shows a significant overall model where technology-based applications account for 28% of variance in the consumer’s perception of the brand image. Websites and social media applications have significant impact on brand image while mobile applications & services have positive but insignificant impact on brand image. The paper can help companies to adopt technology-based applications in their brand management strategies and invest more on technology-based channels to enhance the brand image, attract more customers, and gain competitive advantage. There has been little research focusing on the effect of technology-based applications on the brand image and specifically in the telecommunications industry.

Purpose Business use of social media is increasing rapidly as marketers aim to increase customer brand engagement (CBE) in brand communities to enhance the brand experience. However, use of social media for marketing communications is not well understood. This study aims to examine manager and user views of CBE and effects of perceived social presence (PSP) on CBE in a corporate Facebook environment. Design/methodology/approach Qualitative in-depth interviews are conducted with 18 users of corporate Facebook – i.e. those who visit corporate Facebook regularly – and four marketing managers whose companies operate Facebook pages. The industry is smart-information technology devices, and the cultural context is Thailand. Findings Corporate Facebook sites with high SP functions foster customer engagement on cognitive, emotional and behavioral levels. PSP enhances product knowledge and encourages return page visits. Thus, CBE and PSP build brand trust and loyalty. However, managers may need to focus more on the nature of the brand community beyond the corporate Facebook page. Practical implications Companies that enrich their corporate Facebook with SP features can encourage CBE. Consumers feel more informed about the brand and therefore feel more positively about it, which enhances the brand experience and brand trust. This holds even for lurkers who do not behaviorally engage on the Facebook page much, but who are active in the broader brand community. Originality/value This paper studies the relationship between PSP and CBE in a corporate Facebook environment, providing insights into how PSP influences CBE, which can enhance the customer’s brand experience and contribute to brand perceptions.
