Volunteers are the main driving force and absolutely necessary for the smooth organization of small-scale events. Through the description of the volunteering concept regarding the events, the readers are getting deeper into the volunteerism perception. This chapter presents the volunteering motivational factors based on selective bibliographical sources. It also gives emphasis to the volunteerism link with the community. Insights from three small-scale sport events are provided with a view to helping the reader comprehend the working areas where volunteers may offer their services and the package that they gain after their contribution.

Abstract. In modern conditions of aggravation of competition the question of creation of effective system of motivation of the personnel at the enterprise acquires extreme urgency. The level of employees’thirst for work depends on the chosen system of motivation. That is why company executives need to rationally combine tangible and intangible methods of staff motivation. Foreign experience proves that intangible and tangible methods of motivation play an equally important role in organizing the work of subordinates. That is why the study of the process of choosing a method of staff motivation in the enterprise is becoming increasingly important, which confirms the relevance of the chosen to research topic.The article investigates the theoretical foundations of the formation of an effective system of motivation in the enterprise.The main motives that underliemotivation are highlighted. Motivation theories are outlined and analyzed. The analysis of the main components of the motivation system: tangible and intangible. The factors contributing to the formation of an effective system of motivation in the enterprise are revealed. Possibilities of combination of tangible and intangible types of motivation at the enterprise are substantiated. It has been proven that motivation has a significant impact on the life of every person and is a driving force in any economic activity.Everyone is an individual, so the goal of company leaders is to choose motivational factors in accordance with the individual qualities of employees. To get the maximum effect from the work of subordinates, the manager must determine the motives of each employee

This research tested the interactions among destination image, destination quality, sport event quality, and behavioral intentions in the context of small-scale sport events. The study included elite sambo athletes (N = 350) who participated in the World Sambo Championships, which were organized in Novi Sad (Serbia) in 2017 and 2018. The destination image was measured with the affective and cognitive dimensions, while the event quality was measured with the core, tangible and supporting dimensions. The results supported the measurement and structural models. They further indicated that the core aspect of the event quality directly influences participants’ behavioral intentions, while the destination quality partially mediates the relationship between destination image and participant behavioral intentions. The event quality was shown to have a direct relationship with the development of destination loyalty. The theoretical and applied value of these results are discussed.

This Research work involves the design, fabrication and testing of a manually operated compressor for use of artisans and small scale vulcanizing activities. The developed machine consists of chain sprocket arrangement to a flywheel attached to a pulley which powers the compressor as well as a storage tank to receive air by foot pedaling. The article is an innovative product to meet the needs of rural African Artisans that uses air compressor for their daily activities . The design is such that the chain sprocket provides the compressor with a driving force in conjunction with the flywheel thereby replacing the prime mover. Prototype pilot test carried out on the developed manual air compressor could generates 10 Psi ie 0.69bar-volume of air in 60 seconds. A new design with better parameter of the machine was done to improve it’s proficiency after testing for broad application even for the handicap Artisans.

ABSTRACTOrigami, the ancient paper folding art has inspired the engineering equipment and design for decades. The basic concept of origami is very general, which leads to applications ranging from small scale to large scale. Recently, researchers are interested in being able to create self-folding structures. Such a structure enables kinematic manipulation by external forces or moments without folding and/or unfolding operations. This is a beneficial application for many fields including aerospace systems, robots, small devices and self-assembly systems. In this paper, the investigation and analyses of the previous literatures on the key driving force of the actuation structure, including the heat, light, electricity, gas and other actuation methods. The aims are to provide researchers and practitioners with the support to systematically understand the latest technologies in this important and evolving field, with inspiration and direction for follow-up.

The prevention of fatigue failure is an important consideration in the design of aeroengine shafts. In this paper, based on the elastic and elstic-plastic finite element analyses, for a series of small-scale hollow shafts with transverse holes, the maximum princple stress and von Mises stresss around the hole have been obtained. Hence, using McDiarmid and Von Mises criteria, the fatigue crack initiation site and life can be determined. The hoop stress, which is the driving force for the Mode I growth of short cracks initiated around the hole, has been characterised as well.

In a Typha-dominated fresh water marsh, plant species composition was strongly influenced by the thickness of the floating organic mat. The "infilling" process was negatively correlated with pH (−0.63) and positively correlated (0.85 and 0.80) with the mat thickness and water table depth, respectively. The phytosociological tabulation of species cover data and the canonical correlation analysis of 14 environmental and plant variables arranged the 48 sampling quadrats into four groups, reflecting the seral stages towards the initial conditions of relatively stable fen formation. The buildup of undecomposed organic matter seems to be the driving force for the acidification, which is further intensified by the presence of Sphagnum and other bog-forming species.

Practical Implications

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to develop and illustrate a conceptual tool for the planning of rural sport events. Design/methodology/approach – The proposed model is elaborated based on theoretical contributions from the tourism and event literature, and illustrated with an empirical case concerning a sport and cultural event arranged in the Chianti countryside in Italy. Findings – The results suggest that a form of professionalization of the event design process, understood as the search of high-quality experience for the local population and the tourists, is feasible within the socialization style of model typical of small events. Research limitations/implications – This study is based on selected theoretical contributions, and on a limited empirical investigation. Further research is needed in order to better understand the event design process, and in particular the processes of communication and involvement among the different community members. Practical implications – The practical implications are related to the possible use of the developed model. Originality/value – The theoretical contribution of this study is relative to the use of the concept of tourism experience, and more specifically of the embodied tourism experience, within the context of event design.

The Right

Small-scale sporting events play an important role in bringing tourists to destinations. In this case, students take the role of the fictional national events director for EVP Beach Volleyball as he analyzes hotel data from three destinations to determine which locale would most benefit from EVP’s participants and fans. The primary goal is for students to learn to conduct basic analysis on a large, real dataset using Microsoft Excel. A second goal is to introduce students to the key performance indicators of the hotel industry: Occupancy Rate, Average Daily Rate (ADR), and Revenue Per Available Room (RevPAR). These metrics are central to hoteliers’ daily operations and familiarity with them will help students speak that language when interacting with people in the field. Thirdly, the case introduces key concepts surrounding the economic impact of sport events, particularly relating to the value of visitor spending.

The City

With issues related to overtourism and, more specifically, tourismphobia, the impacts of any tourism-related activities are being scrutinised. Events falling under this category are therefore being scrutinised. Community events having been hailed to contribute to bridge the gap between locals and visitors, this chapter is going to look at small scale events and, more specifically, community sport event in Winchester (UK). Research carried by Seraphin et al. provided evidence that locals are overall very supportive of events going on in the city. That said, the research did not look at types of events, but events overall. This chapter is therefore going to provide a close up on a specific type of event in Winchester. The results of the findings of small-scale sport events in Winchester will be compared to the findings of Seraphin et al. that are an overall analysis of the Winchester context with regards to events.
