This Research work involves the design, fabrication and testing of a manually operated compressor for use of artisans and small scale vulcanizing activities. The developed machine consists of chain sprocket arrangement to a flywheel attached to a pulley which powers the compressor as well as a storage tank to receive air by foot pedaling. The article is an innovative product to meet the needs of rural African Artisans that uses air compressor for their daily activities . The design is such that the chain sprocket provides the compressor with a driving force in conjunction with the flywheel thereby replacing the prime mover. Prototype pilot test carried out on the developed manual air compressor could generates 10 Psi ie 0.69bar-volume of air in 60 seconds. A new design with better parameter of the machine was done to improve it’s proficiency after testing for broad application even for the handicap Artisans.

Research team of physicians and lab technicians under Izrael Milejkowski’s direction undertook the effort to carry out a series of clinical and biochemical experiments on patients dying of starvation in the Warsaw ghetto so as to receive the fullest possible picture of hunger disease. The research was carried out according to all the rigors of strict scientific discipline, and the authors during their work on academic articles, published it after the war entitled: „Starvation disease: hunger research carried out in the Warsaw ghetto in 1942,” according to their own words, they “supplemented the gap in accordance with the progress of knowledge.” The article is devoted to the reflections over ethical dilemmas of the research team, who were forced in their work to perform numerous medical treatments of experimental nature on extremely exhausted patients. The ill, according to Dr Fajgenblat’s words,“demonstrated negativism toward the research and treatment, which extremely hindered the work, and sometimes even frustrated it.” The article attempts to look at the monumental research work of the Warsaw ghetto doctors as a special kind of response of the medical profession to the feeling of helplessness to the dying patients. The article analyzes the situation of Warsaw ghetto doctors, who undertook the research without support of any outer authority, which could settle their possible ethical dilemmas (Polish deontological codes, European discussions on the conditions of the admissibility of medical research on patients, etc.).

Leslie Burrowes (1908–1985) was the first British dancer to receive the full diploma of the Wigman School in Dresden and subsequently became Wigman's official UK representative. The letters she wrote to her benefactor, Dorothy Elmhirst, with the addition of my commentary and annotations, provide a lens through which to view the School as she experienced it. Her return to London brought her into a quite different cultural environment. I argue that she energetically launched her career, performing and teaching in her new style and contesting what she considered to be false charges against modern dance. But it appears that, by the end of this period, she had adjusted her expectations, away from solo theatrical recitals (in the Wigman mode) and more towards the education of children and students, and a small-scale but intense programme centred on her home studio.

In developing countries, the role of women in the business sector is continuously improving. As a result, female enterprises have also been encouraged in Pakistan. This study is based on life cycle development phases from which women-owned enterprises have to go through in order to become successful. As a primary data source, face-to-face interviews with owners of successful women-owned enterprises were preferred. The data collection process was divided into two phases i.e. Phase-I and Phase-II. After data collection, qualitative analysis has been performed using NVIVO. Findings provide both generic and specific factors involved in life cycle development of women-owned enterprises. This study provides a detailed view of life cycle development model followed by successful women enterprises. The outcome of this research work is a theoretical finding which can be utilized by entrepreneurs owning small scale enterprises to improve their level of performance. Findings can also be helpful for potentially talented women interested in setting up their own business.

The prime objective of this research work is to develop an efficient small scale-dependent computational framework incorporating microstructural tensors of dilatation gradient, rotation gradient, and deviatoric stretch gradient to analyze nonlinear lateral stability of cylindrical microshells. The numerical strategy is established based upon a mixed formation of the third-order shear deformable shell model and modified strain gradient continuum mechanics. The graphene nanoplatelet reinforcements are assumed to be randomly dispersed in a checkerboard scheme within the resin matrix. Accordingly, to extract the effective material properties, the Monte Carlo simulation together with a probabilistic technique are employed. The numerical solution for the microstructural-dependent nonlinear problem is carried out via the moving Kriging meshfree method having the capability to accommodate accurately the essential boundary conditions using proper moving Kriging shape function. It is represented that the role of the stiffening characters related to the effect of microstructural dilatation gradient, rotation gradient, and deviatoric stretch reduces continuously by going to deeper territory of the load-deflection stability path. Moreover, it is indicated that among various microstructural gradient tensors, the stiffening character of the rotation gradient is higher than deviatoric stretch gradient, and the stiffening character of the latter is more considerable than the dilatation gradient tensor.

AbstractA new platform, the Coastal Bottom Drifter, was designed and built to observe near-bottom environments in coastal regions. It is capable of observing properties by drifting near the bottom with a prescribed clearance or at a constant depth of up to 300 m. The platform can observe physical and biochemical parameters, such as temperature, salinity, oxygen, and velocities, and has the capacity to carry additional sensors to measure, for example, pH, turbidity, and nutrients. In addition, it can profile to the surface at chosen intervals and can be deployed for days or up to several months. The integrated Iridium communication allows the user to receive positions and data while the platform is surfaced, as well as send new missions to the instrument. The use of an acoustic bottom-tracking device allows the construction of a drifter trajectory while providing information about ocean circulation. Additionally, the ADCP provides information about suspended particles and possible sediment transport. These measurements are valuable in understanding coastal environments as well as the dominant physical processes that cause mixing and set the conditions for local biological activity. An example deployment in Apalachicola Bay shown in this study demonstrates the ability of the drifter to observe small-scale features, such as overturning cells and plumes of dense water, that are caused by local topography.

In this paper the behavior and the relationship between hydrostatic collapse pressure and diametrically opposed radial compressive force for pipelines were analyzed. This study presents an introduction of a research work aimed to assess the pipeline collapse pressure based on the radial collapse force. Initially the hydrostatic collapse pressure is analyzed, for pipes with different diameter to wall thickness ratio (D/t) and ovalities, using classical assessment (DNV method) and numerical models (FE). Then, the compressive radial force is also analyzed using numerical models validated by a small-scale ring specimen test. After that, the relationship between hydrostatic collapse pressure and compressive radial force is discussed. These first results show that the radial force is a quadratic function of the collapse pressure.

The center of attention of this research work is to propose a recommendation system that prevents unnoticed questions from the participants who are about to receive a tumbleweed badge. A splay-tree is a tree with a self-balancing ability which brings the newly accessed node to the apex of the tree. In this paper, the splay-tree correspond to participants’ ranks and the highlight of the work is to raise average or beneath average scorer to apex without disturbing existing toppers

Smartphone plays a key role in integrating the entire world into a small hand. This feature made these smartphones as another human organ of many people. One of the main feature in every smart phone is GPS which used to travel new places, to locate and find optimized way to reach their destination. As we aware GPS is an outdoor application, GPS location is not accurate in indoor and small scale areas. This leads to an advanced research to improve the accuracy in GPS positing for the benefit of indoor applications. This research proposes a new iBeacons based Improved Indoor Positioning System for indoor positing application using Bluetooth low energy (BLE) beacons. This model helps the mobile application to find the exact location at micro-level scale. The objective of this research work is to design a potable indoor positing system (IPS) for indoor applications with at least 100m accuracy with in the inbuilt energy resource limitations. The proposed model has been built and verified in all the aspects. The location accuracy and energy efficiency of the proposed model is compared and found better than the existing models
