The economy and the environment imply various decisions related to the exploitation, production, distribution, and consumption that affect the organizational environment, and indirectly promote a rational behavior in favor of environmental, social, and economic sustainability, although the social connotations about nature-society relations, from education based on sustainable development, the human being is integrated into the social and ecological ecosystem. And sustainability starts from multidimensional research with a theoretical framework that allows describing the contributions of social sciences and sustainability to incorporate ecological processes as a change of economic, social, and sustainable paradigm within entrepreneurship to contribute to the quality of life. In conclusion, assuming changes from the economy and sustainability are aspects that support multidimensionality in creating value for society and allow us to meet needs in a creative way that recognizes the objectives of sustainable development, through ventures aimed at influencing conservation environments.

This chapter aims to analyze the main factors of the production and consumption of organic products, as well as their policies and strategies. The analysis is based on the premise of the sustainable development of the production, distribution, and consumption systems of organic products that have the potential to improve the quality of life levels of producers, consumers, and society. It is concluded that the production and consumption of organic food is based on a more favorable agriculture of the ecological and the environment, as well as by providing more nutritious and healthy food for consumption.

The social impact of planting and harvesting the jatropha curca for the production of biodiesel in the province of Manabí is shown, where there are several municipalities involved in this process, mainly the populations that live in rural areas where the conditions are created for their improvement of quality and good living from the income they receive for performing these tasks. A social relationship model was designed that links the social development of rural areas in the province of Manabí with the sowing, harvesting and industrialization of jatropha curca in social development, demonstrating the benefit of using indigenous natural resources for the in the improvement of the quality of life of the populations directed to the economic, energetic, social and environmental sustainable development.

t. The article is devoted to the problem of increasing the social responsibility of an individual as a factor contributing to the achievement of the goals of sustainable development of the region. Sustainability is the basis for survival on Earth, as well as for the survival of mankind. Sustainability is connecting with growing population. Sustainable development implies the merger of the three components in a single unit. The first one is the economic viability, the second includes social sustainability, while the third is linked to environmental sustainability. The social component of development relates to the quality of life of people their habits and lifestyles. This chapter put emphasis on the social component of sustainability in Serbia that includes quality of life but also the index of human development. The results of PEST analysis of the Eastern Serbia will explain factors that affect the implementation of sustainable development in the Balkan region. With PESTEL analysis applied to the eastern part of Serbia, it can be observed a wider picture of social life in other smaller countries of the Balkans with similar economic and social characteristics such as Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Republic of Srpska, Macedonia.

Life quality is an important indicator of sustainable development. Farmers’ quality of life strongly affects the farm’s viability. The main goal of this study was to identify the relationships between three main components of farmers’ quality of life: economic situation, living conditions, and mental comfort. In the first phase of the study, the theoretical model representing potential relationships between quality of life components was constructed, and in the second phase the relationships were verified with the use of the structural equation modelling method. The sample consisted of 600 farmers participating in the Polish Farm Accountancy Data Framework (FADN). In the analyses, data from the FADN database and data obtained during supplementary interviews with farmers were used. The analyses revealed that living conditions are significantly and positively correlated with the economic situation and mental comfort, while mental comfort turned out to be negatively correlated with the economic situation. It was concluded that future agricultural and rural development policies should be more focused on the social dimension of sustainable development than before, particularly considering the fact that a farmer’s higher engagement in the improvement of their family’s economic condition might result in lowering their mental comfort due to the stress and work overload.

The social and economic component of regional development characterizes the processes that take place with the participation of all subjects of a regional economy, which are aimed at achieving economically feasible results while ensuring stable improvement of the level and quality of life of the population. Theoretical and practical issues related to the interconnection of interests, goals and objectives of the social and economic development of systems of different levels are of great importance. It should be noted that the "points of economic growth" in the region are enterprises located in its territory. The potential of their socio-economic development can be revealed through the synergy of interests of the region and enterprises. The mechanism for achieving this can be modeling an impact of enterprises’ investment activity on the sustainable development of the region. The urgency of enhancing enterprises’ investment activity in the region, in particular – in conditions of growing unsustainable market conditions, is obvious, as ensuring the efficiency of their operation and intensification of investment activity is one of the most important functions not only of each enterprise but also the region and the state in general. In industrial regions, the regional government is interested and ready to assist in the enterprises’ upgrading, as it directly faces a lot of problems associated with their low technological level. The use of outdated technologies, physical and moral depreciation of equipment invariably cause a low level of labor productivity, high costs of manufacturing, its low quality, which leads to a decrease in the competitiveness of enterprises in the region. Such enterprises have a negative impact on the environment. All this together affects the level and quality of life of the population, which is a key indicator of the effectiveness of regional authorities. Thus, it can be noted that in modern conditions the emphasis in the transition to investment and innovation development is naturally shifted to the level of regions. Ensuring balanced social and economic development of regions in dynamic conditions of structural and organizational transformations and uncertainty is an crucial, complex and multifaceted problem, for the effective solution of which it is necessary to use effective means of economic assessment of feasibility, effectiveness and risks of socio-economic transformations, as well as appropriate means of assessments and regulations, which should include tools for indicative management.

Sociology and sustainable development share many interesting areas of inquiry that offer the potential for closer cooperation between these two disciplines. The aim of the article is to examine the connections between them. The article considers the most promising areas; i.e, environmental issues (environmental sociology), quality of life (which is the key issue for the social pillar of sustainable development), and poverty (poverty eradication is the primary goal of the UN sustainable development agenda). It seems, however, that the cooperation between sociology and sustainable development has stopped at the stage of potential interdisciplinarity.

The article shows the possibility of using indicators of the level and quality of life of the population of the region as a tool for assessing the results of its social policy, the effectiveness of which is determined by the state of the social sphere. The relevance of studying problems and threats in the social sphere of the region is confirmed by their increased importance in the formation of conditions for sustainable development of the regional economy and its economic security.
