Achieving and maintaining organizational excellence in a technical educational institution largely depends on the competencies of faculty members. Consequently, the management of faculty competencies are very important for any technical educational institution. Work skills lead to significant organizational growth which provides a competitive advantage to technical educational institutions. A critical factor related to the long-term success of an institution is its ability to assess the efficiency of the faculty and use that knowledge to achieve tangible results. For the overall development of students and the organization, knowledge of faculty members about mapping systems and process upgradation is important. This chapter discusses in depth the mapping of competences in the technical educational institute at different levels and analyzes the deficiencies in required skills to improve the level of competency. The research was carried out by taking a study on a government engineering institute based at Haryana, India as a model technical educational institute.

Examinations are an indispensable part of a student’s life. In the conventional mechanism, the question paper generation is time-consuming work for the faculty members of the educational institution. Every educational institute mandatorily expects exam setters to follow its own typesetting format. We have designed the automated question paper setting software to be user-friendly so that, paper setters can overcome from the typographic problem. Presently in most of the educational institutions question papers are set manually. It is time-consuming work and there may be chances of repetition of the same questions. So, in order to make the question paper generation more convenient to use, the web application is developed using Java Enterprise Edition (JEE) that can be accessed from LAN/Intranet.The application comes with the Admin Module and Teachers Module. The Admin grants access to the users by registering them. The faculty can access the system once they are registered. The faculty can enter questions in the database daily as per their free time. In this way, the question pool can be generated. The questions are approved by the chairperson and substandard questions are discarded. The question paper is then generated by selected course experts. The Fisher-Yates Shuffling algorithm used to choose questions randomly from the pool of questions from the database. Text Mining Algorithm aids in duplicity removal from the paper.  The generated question paper will be in Word Format. In our application, we assure better security, removal of duplicity, cost-effectiveness, and human intervention avoidance. It can be used by small-scale and large-scale institutions.

Educational institutions are complex organizations; equally complex are the issues involved in managing such institutions. The authors suggest that faculty feedback sessions, meant to develop an open and interactive culture among faculty members, can also provide the basis for analysis of the complex forces at work in academic institutions. They contend that while the collegiate system is most appropriate for institutions where there is a wide distribution of expertise, it is essential to recognize the integral nature of conflict in the management processes of such institutions.

Academic performance is taken as the process of carrying out academic activities and discourses by faculty members to enhance their academic activities and discourses. The purpose of this research was to identify the faculty member's level of academic performance in higher educational institutions. To conduct this research, a quantitative methodology was employed. The tools to measure the academic performance of faculty members were developed using Delphi method. The data were collected with 445 sampled respondents from four universities. The factor analysis was used to explore the dimensions of academic performance. The factor analysis identified four factors of academic performance i.e., research and publication, innovation, interactive learning, and capacity building. To analyze the level of academic performance, mean and the standard deviation was used. It was found that individual differences and the organizational environment, culture, and technological infrastructure were crucial to influence the pace and level academic performance in academia.

The phenomena of radicalism and violent extremism in Indonesia, in some cases, cannot be separated from pesantren (Islamic boarding schools); some jihadis (read: terrorists) are the pesantren graduates.  However, as an educational institution that has rooted in the Indonesia Muslim communities, the majority of pesantren carry the spirit of religious moderation and have even produced many alumni promoting peaceful, tolerant, and democratic views of Islam. Some pundits have confirmed the moderate character of the pesantren; Azyumardi Azra, in his review on the results of the study of CSRC and PPIM UIN Jakarta (the Jakarta Post, 22 December 2019), underlines that pesantren has contributed to fostering the understanding of moderate Islam (Wasatiyah). Pesantren is different from other Islamic educational institutions in Muslim countries, such as in Pakistan, Yemen, Afghanistan, etc.; some madrasas (read: Islamic schools) there become a place of a breeding ground for radical Islamic understanding. The CSRC and PPIM UIN Jakarta’s study (2019) shows that pesantren, on different levels, has social resilience from the influence of radical ideology, although they still have some vulnerabilities which are needed to be observed. The pesantren resilience is resulted by their capacity in empowering their social capitals that have been existed in three social connectivity: social bonding, social bridging, and social linking.

The practical significance of the article is that the proposed principles, technologies, tools and methodology tested in educational institutions of different levels can be used in the process of developing strategic management of relevant institutions, in particular to create a document «Strategic and investment development plan of the educational institution». It is substantiated that in the process of creating a strategic and investment plan for the development of the educational institution it is advisable to adhere to certain principles that will involve all stakeholders, teaching staff, lay the foundation for coordinated work on its (plan) implementation. Such principles are the principle of predictability (vision of the strategic and investment plan for the development of the institution as a document that should not only contain strategic initiatives and operational objectives aimed at changing the current situation (in terms of management, quality, competitiveness, etc.), but to implement initiatives aimed at change in the future); optimality (the need to identify a number of such strategic initiatives, the implementation of which could most optimally determine the change in the future); hierarchy (structuring of strategic and investment plan as a hierarchy of strategic initiatives, strategic goals and operational objectives, in order to ensure and optimal achievement of planned strategic goals); responsibility (involvement of teaching and non teaching staff in the process of generating strategic initiatives for the development of the educational institution as well as encouraging them to take responsibility for their implementation); environmentality (taking into account the general context (external environment) in which the institution is operated, and which, in turn, determines the patterns and internal logic of this development). The author’s methodology of creating a strategic and investment plan for the development of the educational institution is proposed, which provides the stages of analysis of the external environment of the educational institution, institutional analysis, competitive analysis, formation of a 3D view on the educational institution, generation of strategic initiatives for the future. The peculiarities of using the nominal groups technique to generate strategic initiatives for the development of an educational institution are substantiated. Key words: strategic development, strategic management, educational institutions, institutions of professional (vocational) education, strategic and investment plan. Introduction. Currently, educational institutions have experience in organizing children’s design and research activities. The interest of schools convincingly shows the demand for these activities. Long-term observations and experience of cooperation with educational institutions of the city of Tomsk and the region made it possible to identify urgent problems in this direction. Purpose of the research: analysis of problems in the design and research activities of children and the search for approaches to their solution. Material and methods. The study used reports from teachers from 23 schools (Tomsk and the Tomsk region). They were presented at the regional scientific-practical conference «Organization of research and project activities of students in educational institutions» (Tomsk, December 17, 2020, Tomsk State Pedagogical University). We conducted a survey (63 teachers). Results and discussion. Based on the analysis, we identified problems: teachers do not distinguish between the concepts of «project activity» and «research activity»; there are no uniform criteria for project activities and research activities of students; there are no successive ties in the organization of project and research activities at different levels of education. Conclusion. The solution to these problems can be: 1. Creation of a project group for proactive teachers. They can develop uniform criteria for the design and research activities of children for the city and region. 2. It is necessary to update the content of training students at Tomsk State Pedagogical University. There should be a course for teaching students to work with projects and research on children.

The establishment of Ukraine as a state governed by the rule of law raises on the agenda the question of the level of legal culture in our country. In turn, the very structure of legal culture, despite its conditionality, among other things, contains such an element as the level of development of legal activity, including education. In many ways, the organization of education becomes the basis for the formation and development of civil society. The leading role in this process belongs to the head of the educational institution. That is why the problems of management of educational institutions of different levels in modern conditions are becoming quite acute. In this regard, the style and methods of leadership, the main methods and techniques of the leader become quite relevant, especially because today they began to pay significant attention to the issues of the most effective interaction of the leader with subordinates. Of course, scholars should not be considered to completely ignore education, but without underestimating the work of previous scholars, it should be noted that most of them have not explored the legal aspect of the symbiosis of education and management. That is why there is a need to analyze the style and methods of leadership used by managers in their practice in the context of the legal aspect of the symbiosis of education and management, as well as the choice of the best option to influence subordinates. The implementation of this requires the solution of relevant scientific problems. First, to outline in general the current situation in the field of national education. Second, describe the leader as a person. Third, explore leadership styles and their types. Fourth, analyze leadership techniques. Fifth, determine the importance of monitoring the implementation of the tasks of leadership methods. The study found that the style and methods of leadership, largely depend on the daily activities of the leader and his training. At the same time, the educational sphere is almost indistinguishable from any other in the context of management, although it has its own specifics related to the focus on education. It seems that the legal consolidation of the daily activities of the head of the educational institution, his techniques, style and methods of work is of some relevance today, because the state at different levels pays attention to the most effective interaction of the head with subordinates.
