Purpose The purpose of this paper is to propose a model developed through a thorough qualitative analysis of pertinent stakeholder perceptions that can be used to map Master of Business Administration (MBA) students’ aspirations, goals, strengths and weaknesses to create optimal interventions and enable better employability. Design/methodology/approach This study used an exploratory research design. The authors conducted interviews with 60 stakeholders to identify themes that form constituents of the E-Career Canvas for Individuals (E-CCI) model. To assess the impact of the proposed initiative, 30 random participants were chosen for interviews from among alumni, present students, faculty, recruiters and the university administration across five years. Findings The proposed model captures the short-term and long-term goals of students concerning their career aspirations. This study has qualitatively explored the impacts of the E-CCI initiative on graduating students’ outcomes. The impacts are positive. The findings also suggest that recruiters do experience an incremental difference among graduates who have participated in the E-CCI program at an educational institute in India. Practical implications Business schools may adopt this model to create profiles of their MBA students. Students, as well as institutional administration, may work on mitigating the shortcomings and weaknesses identified through E-CCI initiatives and target the roles matching the profiles of students during placements. Originality/value This paper presents a novel model of E-CCI to capture the aspirations of MBA graduates and direct them to fulfil their goals. This study takes into consideration the viewpoints of key stakeholders involved to map the effectiveness of the model.

The article presents the results of two sociological studies carried out for the purpose of research of motivation of obtaining a higher education and factors of selection of a higher educational institution by foreign students, revelation of problems and elaboration of recommendations for their solution. It was revealed that foreign students in general praise obtaining a higher education, and that motivational postulates of obtaining education include not only commercial goals but cultural as well. It was established that Russian education is praised by foreign students in terms of quality, and that foreign students seek Russian education purposefully. It was found that Russia is a financially attractive country for foreign students, including employment. The study demonstrated a great significance of the website and social media of a higher educational institute for making decision on obtaining education in this higher educational institute. The results of the study showed that the level of competence in higher educational institutes of the city conforms to the requirements of foreign students and satisfies their demands maximally. At the same time several problems were revealed relating to training of foreign students: language problems; problems in training; communicational problems; social and cultural problems and social and everyday problems. Several recommendations were made to solve those problems.


This manuscript investigates the waste paper management (WPM) of an educational Institute and aware the people about the importance of waste paper management and recycling of waste papers by multidimensional approach. The research assessed two multi long term plans, considering all recycling settings feasible for educational scenario. To complete that purpose, support for the collection of waste papers, final disposal and environmental and financial impact assessment concerning transportation is required. Results suggest that the quality of handmade papers is improved by doping some external materials in cellulose of waste papers. In this manuscript, flour of wheat is mixed in waste paper cellulose. The analysis of handmade paper is done by a photometric test. It is found that at some percentages of doping of flour in waste paper pulp, the reflection properties of the paper is increased and surface of paper become smooth and hard. At some other percentages of doping, the papers are shown absorption properties.

Noise is an unavoidable stressor nowadays; it adversely affects human health and the ability to perform mental and complex tasks. Eight selected points representing home environment were sampled in urban zones, the indoor and outdoor noise levels in these residential areas were evaluated during the summer and winter seasons. Also, nine points in educational institute represented by the College of Science through its lecture halls, laboratories and corridors, to compare them with WHO limits of sound pressure levels, to assess the level of noise experienced by people in indoor closed environments. The current study results showed higher sound levels than required inside homes and educational places. For homes, the highest sound level was 73.9 dB during summer in the living room and the lowest was 42.1 in winter in the bedroom, while the highest sound level in the educational environment was 72.37 dB in summer and the lowest was 61.75 dB in winter. Exposure of individuals to high levels of noise in educational institutions and in their homes means longer hours of exposure to noise pollution, which will negatively affect their health. Thus there is a serious need nowadays to adopt suitable control to reduce noise pollution at indoor points.

A pesquisa aqui apresentada, de caráter investigativo, aponta evidências presentes em documentos produzidos por professores paranaenses para responder a uma demanda de pesquisa manifesta das décadas de 1970 e 1980: como se apresentaram os saberes para ensinar matemática nas orientações para os professores do ensino de 1º Grau no estado do Paraná? Procurou-se responder à essa questão tomando por base a teoria e metodologia da história cultural, a leitura e análise de documentos como a Lei de Diretrizes e Bases da Educação (1971), o Projeto HAPRONT (modelo curricular de formação de professores), “Revista Currículo” (PARANÁ, 1977; 1978; 1979) da SEC do PR, e a “Revista A voz da Escola” (PARANÁ, 1981) do IEP. A organização e abordagem das propostas educativas que fizeram parte do contexto de produção de manuais didáticos para a orientação de formação, tanto inicial quanto continuada de professores, tiveram a participação de educadores cuja expertise associou os saberes para ensinar às teorias educacionais e métodos de ensino em voga na educação brasileira, traduzindo as expectativas para o período em questão. A fundamentação teórico-metodológica da história cultural nas teorias de Julia, Chervel e Chartier deram sustento às argumentações aqui expostas.Mathematical knowledge in the teacher’s orientation of Paraná: expertises and contributions (1970-1980)The research presented here, of an investigative nature, points to evidence present in documents produced by teachers from Paraná to respond to a clear demand for research from the 1970s and 1980s: how was presented the knowledge for teaching mathematics in the guidelines for teachers of elementary school in the state of Paraná? We sought to answer this question based on the theory and methodology of cultural history, the reading and analysis of documents such as Lei de Diretrizes e Bases da Educação (1971), the HAPRONT Project (curricular model for teacher education), “Curriculum magazine” (1977, 1978, 1979), from Education Secretary of Paraná, and “The voice of the school magazine” (1981) from Educational Institute of Paraná. The organization and approach of educational proposals that were part of the context of the production of textbooks to guide both initial and continuing teacher education had the participation of educators whose expertise associated the knowledge to teach with the educational theories end teaching methods in vogue in Brazilian education translating expectations for the period in question. The theoretical methodological foundation of cultural history in the theories of Julia, Chervel and Chartier supported the arguments presented here.Keywords: Education; Teachers’ training; Mathematics knowledge.

Absenteeism is an act of being excessively away from educational institute which is a major indiscipline problem among students globally. Descriptive cross-sectional study design was used. Data was collected by using by self-administered questionnaire from nursing students of 13 nursing colleges offering 4-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program in Punjab province of Pakistan after taking care of all the ethical considerations. Systematic random sampling technique was used to select 130 participants from nursing institutes offering 4 year BSN program. Most influential factors for absenteeism identified were ‘not joined nursing studies as per choice’ (mean=3.77), ‘awaking up late for college’ (mean=3.62), ‘impending assignments’ (mean=3.),‘feel bored with certain subjects’ (mean=3.46),‘when teachers teaching skills are not up to mark’ (mean=3.67), ‘Lack of proper guidance in clinical area’ (mean=3.94), ‘shortage of staff in clinical area’ (mean=3.88), ‘Not want to be treated as workforce in clinical area’ (mean=3.82) very exhaustive and rigid or irregular timetable’ (mean=3.81). Nursing student’s absenteeism is interplay of multiple modifiable factors. Hence, necessary steps may be taken to overcome these modifiable factors to improve the quality of nursing education.

The Czechs have given the world many important personalities, including pedagogues. In addition to the well-known Jan Amos Komensky (1592–1670), we can also name Gustav Adolf Lindner (1828–1887). But for a long time another important pedagogue personality of the 20th century, Přemysl Pitter, remained unknown to the world. In today’s world of intolerance it’s worthwhile to pay attention to the activities of a man who cherished the values by which he lived his life: “Without love, without human compassion with one another, nothing will stand”2. These are the words of the humanist Přemysl Pitter, a Czech Protestant-oriented thinker, educator, writer, publicist, radical pacifist, and social worker. He founded the famous Prague educational institute “MiličHouse” during the Second World War, and despite strict prohibitions, he visited and supplied the Jews during that time. After the war, he applied for confiscated castles around Prague, where he took care of impoverished German, Jewish, Polish, Czech, and other children. After the establishment of the communist regime, he was forced to flee the country. There was no word of him for many years. But why was his birth declared a UNESCO anniversary? Why did he receive one of the highest state awards of the Czech Republic from President Vaclav Havel? This text addresses such questions. The journey through the life of this exceptional man is like a limited service bus route, consisting of only two stops: and these two stops I present here.
