The objective of this research was developed to evaluate the working conditions of workers in an electronic industry located in the city of Mexicali, analyzing a process in a work table where welding operations of electronic components are made and certain factors are presented that generated discomfort to the operating personnel of this manufacturing area. The workers frequently visited the company doctor and health institutions in Mexicali due to symptoms of discomfort and pain in the head, neck, back, spine, arms, hands, and shoulders in addition to discomfort in the eyes due to not having a position due to poor structure (work table and chair) and low light intensity, which caused fatigue and stress and discomfort with eyestrain. In addition, certain employees in the production areas presented symptoms of respiratory diseases caused by an environment contaminated by pollutants, essentially derived from sulfur (sulfides), as well as variations in temperature and relative humidity in the four seasons of the year.

This investigation was made to evaluate the health and well-being of workers who made activities in the manufacturing processes of an aerospace industry installed in the city of Mexicali and based on the evidence presented in certain stages of a production line. The cost-benefit of applying ergonomic methods was analyzed, developing a descriptive model, which involved important aspects. Said aspects analyzed were (1) work methods, (2) training of employees in the operational area, (3) evaluation of times and movements of industrial operations, and (4) working conditions as the relationship of workers with supervisors and managers.

This article analyses to what extent the social and solidarity economy (SSE), the aim of which is to prioritize people’s needs and well-being, can offer young people education-to-work transitions conditions and opportunities which are different from those in the conventional economy. The very nature of SSE means that it is especially suitable for challenging gender inequality and proves to be exceptionally useful for testing feminist economics. Against a backdrop of economic crisis, SSE has shown greater resilience when compared to other sectors, although it is still not widespread. To examine how SSE can improve young women’s experiences and labour trajectories, this article analyses working conditions, job satisfaction and gender roles in school-to-work transitions of young women in SSE in Catalonia. Results show that the collective and value-driven nature of SSE entails a specific awareness and commitment that empower young women’s transitions experiences and expectations.

This paper looks at the City of Melbourne's new office development CH2 as a case study of world class energy performance. In particular, the integrated design of conventionally independent systems has led to the potential to deliver significant savings to the Council and to deliver better environmental conditions to building occupants that in turn may contribute to satisfaction, well-being and productivity. It is concluded that this project has the potential to be an iconic example of effective implementation of ESD (environmental sustainable design) principles and therefore act as a demonstration project to others. Energy efficiency of more than 50% of current benchmarks for Melbourne is effected. Energy harvesting is defined as arising from squander, waste and nature, which is a new concept introduced in this paper to better describe the design decision process.

Background: The names of houses in Lviv, including villas, are still an unexplored niche in Lviv studies. The issue of semantics of pre-war names of Lviv villas is important at the present stage of the development of the onomastic research. It gives the clue of a good house name to modern naming and house-building companies. Purpose: The author put forward the task to acquaint readers with the Lviv’s named villas (ХІХ–the beginning of ХХ century), to describe the specification of naming features and name functions in diachronic cut and to define semantic groups of villa`s names. They appeared in the times when in naming there was no real practical need and became a manifestation of home essence, a mediator in communication between the owner, the host and a passerby, a potential guest. The name of the house emphasized its individuality, charm, created an emotional personal component of the city text. It was associated with its owners and gave an idea of the level of well-being, education, national composition and religious affiliation of the inhabitants. Results: Lviv`s villas were named mostly in Polish by its owners, architects or citizens. Their purposes were to nominate, distinguish (address function), inform, separate from the others, express oneself as an author, as well as to advertise. The nominative field of Lviv`s house names is represented by women’s names and their shorten forms, words with positive associations, sometimes with several meanings, family coats of arms, external characteristics and location of the house. The seaport, as a link of the transport chain, is oriented towards the development of the maritime system of the country and the summit place of traffic slope from all transport routes and means of transport. While the city, as a community of residents, is oriented towards promoting the well-being of citizens and the quality of their lives, so it strives to ecological, cultural and visual values. This relation of interest is merely one of the numerous relations of interest of the relevant stakeholders in the planning and development of the seeports in relation to the spatial concept of cities deriving from a constrained coexistence in a restricted area – as two separate entities whose interests and objectives appear to be different at first sight. In this paper, the relations of interest of the relevant stakeholders have been analyzed, quantitative and qualitative variables have been evaluated that influence the development of the seaports in relation to the spatial concept of the city. The research has highlighted the need to look at and analyze all relevant stakeholders interests, of which the most important are: state – local community, state – managing body of the port, state – economy, local community – managing body of the port, local community – economy and economy – managing body of the port.

COVID-19 confronted many people with an abrupt shift from their usual working environment to telework. This study explores which job characteristics are perceived as most crucial in this exceptional situation and how they differ from people’s previous working conditions. Additionally, we focus on job crafting as a response to this situation and how it is related to employees’ well-being. We conducted an online survey with N = 599 participants, of which 321 reported that they were telework newcomers. First, we asked participants to indicate the three most important advantages and disadvantages they see in telework. The subsequent questionnaire contained a comprehensive measure of working conditions before and during the pandemic, job crafting behaviors, and indicators of well-being. Based on the qualitative answers, we identified three major advantages and disadvantages. Quantitative results indicate perceived changes in all job characteristics for telework newcomers. Concerning working conditions and well-being, job crafting activities that aim to increase structural and social resources are important mediators. The findings underline the need to design appropriate telework conditions and encourage job crafting activities to foster occupational well-being.

Abstract Context Since poverty areas are socioeconomic complex and limiting environments, there is a need to develop intra-sectoral and inter-sectoral actions in the health territory in order to achieve the economic and social well-being of people and society. This research aims to understand the relationship between inter-sectorial and inter-sectoral actions for health and socio-environmental groupings of the most vulnerable health territories in the city of São Paulo, identify which are the most frequent partners of these actions and how professionals experience these partnerships in their daily lives.Method We adopted the mixed sequential and explanatory method. In the first phase, an online form is applied and identifies the Basic Health Units (BHU) that take place as intersectoral actions with more partners. In the second phase, we explored how the professionals consider the characteristics of the territory where they act to seek partnerships and how they carry out the actions.Results Analysis of quantitative data indicated that: a) More than 98% of BHUs conduct intra- and inter-sectoral partnerships and b) there is no relationship between the indices of the most vulnerable groupings and the presence of intra- and inter-sectoral actions with statistical significance p <0.05. The content analysis of literal transcriptions pointed out that: intra- and inter-sectoral practices developed in the health territories were driven by the needs of the treatment of diseases or by the precarious conditions of life of individual or collectivities. However, in order to assist different types of violence, health professionals avoid seeking partnerships, including with the Tutelary Council and the Center for Human Rights, as they fear they will suffer reprisals by those who cause this violence. There was consistency between quantitative and qualitative data, except for partnership with education, other BHUs, environment, and the Tutelary Council.Conclusion The construction of personalized partnerships for individual and collective health, in order to cope with social inequalities; of chronic diseases and by phases of the life cycle involved in socioeconomic fragilities that generate more poverty is part of the job from BHU’s professionals.
