The chapter focuses on the development of tools containing the basics of Braille and methods that help the people to manage this type of language to enhance the strength of collective thinking in educational statements, taking into account key background; this is why the development of tools containing the basic aspects of the Braille system and the necessary methods to enable the subject to master this type of language, enhancing the strength of collective thinking at the educational level, are so important. However, one of the main challenges in learning Braille is to engage the individual in literacy processes, which is why the creation of learning cards is proposed, to enable people to learn Braille.

Abstract The proposed robot aims to serve as a personal assistant for visually impaired people in obstacle avoidance, in identifying the person (known or unknown) with whom they are interacting with and in navigating. The robot has a special feature in truly locating the subject’s location using GPS. The novel feature of this robot is to identify people with whom the subject interacts. Facial detection and identification in real-time has been a challenge and achieved with accurate image processing using viola jones and SURF algorithms. An obstacle avoidance design has been implanted in the system with many sensors to guide in the correct path. Hence, the robot is a fusion of providing the best of the comfort and safety with minimal cost.

AbstractThe aim of the project is the development of an aid for blind or visually impaired people, considering economic aspects as well as easy adaptability to various daily situations. Distance sensors were attached to a walking frame (rollator) to detect the distance to obstacles. The information from the sensors is transmitted to the user via tactile feedback. This is realized with a number of vibration motors which were located at the upper belly area of the subject. To test the functionality of the aid to the blind, a testing track with obstacles has been passed through by a number of volunteers. While passing the track five times the needed time to pass through, as well as the number of collisions, were noticed. The results showed a decline in the average time needed to pass though the testing track. This indicates a learning process of the operator to interpret the signals given by the tactile feedback.

Innovation encourages the visually impaired individuals to speak with nature, the correspondence procedure and the dispersal of data has gotten quick and on a more extensive scale to incorporate all pieces of the world which incredibly influenced to the human life, subsequently expanding the methods for amusement and comfort and diminished affliction and hardship in numerous things. We have surveyed the existing solutions meant for autonomous mobility for the visually impaired people. In this paper, we have proposed a novel structure, Smart Shoes with sensors installed in them to control an outwardly debilitated individual smoothly and to alarm him/her of the impediments that lay in front of him in his way. The structure is meant to build up a simple to utilise processing power of Arduino in conjunction with the object detection capability of ultrasonic sensor to oblige the extraordinary needs, used to manage the individual coextending the highlights of the Smart Shoes.

The aim of the paper is to present aspects of stigmatizing and stereotyping the visually impaired people in the light of social stigma theory of Erving Goffman. Also discussed are the tendencies contrary to the phenomena of social stigma as well as the creation of simplified cognitive schemes related to people with blindness. These tendencies are for example: revision of common speech and cultural discourse to not to consolidate false image of people with blindness. At the end of the paper there are also presented practical tools and materials which can be useful in pedagogical practice.


One of the mostly used forms of communication among the people is Email. Lot of confidential and urgent information is exchanged over emails in today’s time. There are about 253 million visually impaired people worldwide. These visually impaired people are facing a problem of communication. Since, technology is growing day by day these types to visually challenged people feel that they are more challenged. So authors proposed a Voice based Email System using AI that will make email system very easily accessible to visually challenged people and also help society. Accessibility is the most important feature that is considered while developing this system. Any system is called accessible only if both able and disable people can use it easily

We developed software called SIPReS, which describes two-dimensional images with sound. With this system, visually-impaired people can tell the location of a certain point in an image just by hearing notes of frequency each assigned according to the brightness of the point a user touches on. It can run on Android smartphones and tablets. We conducted a small-scale experiment to see if a visually-impaired person can recognize images with SIPReS. In the experiment, the subject successfully recognized if there is an object or not. He also recognized the location information. The experiment suggests this application’s potential as image recognition software.

At present, we increasingly encounter the concept of so-called digital literacy. Digital technologies are constantly evolving in this field and play an important role in human life. They are important not only in the labor market but also in education and human skills development. Digital technologies are thus one of the means by which we can develop the cognitive processes of visually impaired people. We can thus help them to improve a number of areas that are limited due to loss or reduction of visual perception. Especially, thinking, memory, and creating ideas are very important. This contribution was created within the solution of the project TAČR – Reduction of information deficit and development of the imagination of visually impaired people through 3D models with auditory elements in cooperation with the project PIGŽU – Support of information literacy of pupils and teachers. The first of the projects aims to reduce the information deficit caused by the loss or reduction of visual perception in visually impaired people using multisensory action. At the same time, it aims to develop their spatial imagination. The second project then focus on the creation of digital aids, which aims primarily at the development and support of computational thinking. In addition to mainstream primary school pupils, the project also focuses on pupils with special educational needs, including visually impaired individuals. The main output of the project is the creation of aids, including methodologies, using digital technologies. These are technologies such as Ozobot, Blue-Bot, or Bee-bot. The aim of the paper is to acquaint with the project, to provide at least basic information about digital technologies, and especially to describe the possibilities of personality development, skills, and abilities using these technologies in visually impaired students.
