Using Digital Technologies to Remotely Observe and Mentor Teachers

Using digital technologies to remotely observe and mentor teachers is a relatively new practice. Thus, many states, schools, and districts do not have policies in place that explicitly allow this practice, and, in some instances, policies are in place that explicitly prohibit the use of these technologies. This chapter provides an analysis of the traditional approach to mentorship, support, and feedback, and highlights new challenges with in-person mentorship, support, and feedback amid the COVID-19 pandemic. As with many aspects of current newly adapted world, the teaching profession has become increasingly reliant on using digital technologies to remotely observe and mentor teachers. The chapter provides a literature review of best practices in observation, mentorship, and feedback. It also shows that limited data are available to facilitate the use of digital technologies and provide novice and in-service teacher support in order to allow for a positive novice teacher induction experience.

BACKGROUND Data visualization experts have identified core principles to follow when creating visual displays of data that facilitate comprehension. Such principles can be applied to creating effective reports for clinicians that display compliance with quality improvement protocols. A basic tenet of implementation science is continuous monitoring and feedback. Applying best practices for data visualization to reports for clinicians can catalyze implementation and sustainment of new protocols. OBJECTIVE To apply best practices for data visualization to create reports that clinicians find clear and useful. METHODS First, we conducted a systematic literature review to identify best practices for data visualization. We applied these findings and feedback collected via a questionnaire to improve the Fall TIPS Monthly Report (FTMR), which shows compliance with an evidence-based fall prevention program, Fall TIPS (Tailoring Interventions for Patient Safety). This questionnaire was based on the requirements for effective data display suggested by expert Stephen Few. We then evaluated usability of the FTMR using a 15-item Health Information Technology Usability Evaluation Scale (Health-ITUES). Items were rated on a 5-point Likert scale from strongly disagree (1) to strongly agree (5). RESULTS The results of the systematic literature review emphasized that the ideal data display maximizes the information communicated while minimizing the cognitive efforts involved with data interpretation. Factors to consider include selecting the correct type of display (e.g. line vs bar graph) and creating simplistic reports. The qualitative and quantitative evaluations of the original and final FTMR revealed improved perceptions of the visual display of the reports and their usability. Themes that emerged from the staff interviews emphasized the value of simplified reports, meaningful data, and usefulness to clinicians. The mean (SD) rating on the Health-ITUES scale when evaluating the original FTMR was 3.86 (0.19) and increased to 4.29 (0.11) when evaluating the revised FTMR (Mann Whitney U Test, z=-12.25, P<0.001). CONCLUSIONS Best practices identified through a systematic review can be applied to create effective reports for clinician use. The lessons learned from evaluating FTMR perceptions and measuring usability can be applied to creating effective reports for clinician use in the context of other implementation science projects.

Context Immunohistochemistry has become an indispensable ancillary technique in anatomic pathology laboratories. Standardization of every step in preanalytic, analytic, and postanalytic phases is crucial to achieve reproducible and reliable immunohistochemistry test results. Objective To standardize immunohistochemistry tests from preanalytic, analytic, to postanalytic phases. Data Sources Literature review and Geisinger (Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, Pennsylvania) experience. Conclusions This review article delineates some critical points in preanalytic, analytic, and postanalytic phases; reiterates some important questions, which may or may not have a consensus at this time; and updates the newly proposed guidelines on antibody validation from the College of American Pathologists Pathology and Laboratory Quality Center. Additionally, the article intends to share Geisinger's experience with (1) testing/optimizing a new antibody and troubleshooting; (2) interpreting and reporting immunohistochemistry assay results; (3) improving and implementing a total immunohistochemistry quality management program; and (4) developing best practices in immunohistochemistry.

The massive uptake of digital technologies has changed the way how fans and the sports service field communicate and interact. In the current paper, we would like to emphasize the role of technology holistically in sport spectators customer experiences (SSCX) as a "game-changer" marketing in sports and the digitalization of SSCX. In this paper, we aim to explore and qualitatively describe by interviewees verbatim how new technologies impact SSCX. It draws on the literature review, combined with the primary data collected on unstructured interviews with international sport management and technology experts (N=10). It brings sports marketing insights followed by examples from industry professionals. Iterative analysis of data combined with literature review let us achieve to outline the crucial points and trends of technological transformations in sports spectacle. We offer an updated perspective on the SSCX through the prism of the impact of digital technologies and reshaping sports consumption culture. To this end, we develop a conceptual model that captures the nature of modern SSCX influenced by digital technologies. Governments at all levels have a mandate to provide services, protect society, and make the economy prosper. While this is a long-term goal, citizens are now expecting greater and faster delivery of services from government. This paper presents a systematic literature review of service digitization carried out by the governments of several countries, which was motivated by the lack of primary studies in the literature related to the identification of the processes and methodologies adopted by these governments and private companies to provide their services to the citizen. This work also contributes to the identification of best practices, technologies and tools used for the provision and evaluation of digitized services provided and how governments are evaluating the gains from digitization. These results of this systematic literature review serve as inputs to guide current and future research of the Brazilian Government in the construction of a digital platform for the provision of its services directed to the citizen, seeking to analyze their needs and improving the services currently provided.

Background: 4.0 industrial revolution raises new challenges for nurses to stay up to date on science knowledge by utilizing information technology advances. This is because science is the basis of nurses in making the best nursing care for patients. Methods: Literature review of 25 journals from Science Direct, PROQUEST, Scopus, and Scholar Article in 2014 to 2018. Results: Some results of the study show that the use of e-learning in providing education of nurses can increase knowledge to nurses' caring behavior in providing nursing care, and one of the e-learning devices in the hospital is a webinar. Conclusion: E-learning provides opportunities for nurses to gain knowledge through the use of electronic systems. One of the e-learning devices in the hospital that can be used as a reference when nurses want to study is webinar. Not only nurses who work at the hospital who can get benefits from webinar, but so do nurses in other health services. Although facilities and infrastructure are inadequate in an HR hospital, but nurses can intelligently use webinar as a source to gain knowledge.

To date, digital technologies and their widespread practice have formed the potential for completely new business models. However, most organizations are either in the early stages of the digital transformation process, or do not yet dare to form a digital business model that will provide real benefits from digital technologies. In any case, taking into account the enormous pace of global digitalization, it is extremely important to adapt the best practices of digital transformation to the improvement of the Ukrainian economy as soon as possible. Based on this, consider the process of researching new and adapting existing management models. Digital transformation – the introduction of modern technologies to radically change the business models of enterprise management today is considered the most important topic for organizations around the world. The requirements of the new digital economy represent the digital transformation as a conscious strategic process of business modification through adaptive management and implementation of digital technologies, ie the restructuring of existing business models. The same happens at industrial and agro-industrial enterprises, the analog period of which is coming to an end. Industries are entering the digital age, thanks to which enterprises are developing in accordance with the new focus. For this reason, it is very important for the formation of digital models of enterprise management to strategically understand the possibilities of digital technology development in their connection with business processes and business models. The analysis of the main traditional models of effective management of enterprises was carried out and their fundamental differences from the Ukrainian approach to management were revealed, the possibilities of implementation of the principles of existing business models by Ukrainian enterprises were considered. In addition, a roadmap for the transition from a traditional to a digital enterprise was proposed for consideration. The process of modeling the digital management system of the enterprise is revealed. Currently, a prerequisite for the prosperity of the economy of industry and agriculture and, consequently, the economy of Ukraine, is adaptive digital management as a basis for economic security of the enterprise. It was found that the relentless introduction of digital technologies, «copying best practices» can later be in reality as dangerous as the refusal to master new technologies. Therefore, choosing the direction of your own digitization, you must first study everything thoroughly, so as not to miss the moment and not to remain in the ranks of the latter or in the past.
