A Semantic Approach to Designing Information Services for Smart Museums

The existing wide spectrum of embedded, multimedia, and mobile equipment provides an effective base for making museums smart or intelligent. By using the Internet of Things technology and the smart spaces paradigm the distance can be shortened between exhibits and their descriptive information on one side and consumers and providers of this information on the other side. In this paper, the authors discuss a smart museum concept and present a semantic approach to design of advanced information services for smart museums. The central point is introduction of the semantic layer to create a semantic network. The proposed approach reduces the semantic layer development to the following components: software infrastructure, semantic layer ontology, and mobile user access. For these components the authors provide design solutions, which are analyzed in respect to particular services for the History Museum of Petrozavodsk State University. The semantic approach can be applied to development of many museum services as well as in various digital environments of museums and cultural heritage areas.

Technologies of the Internet of Things (IoT) and of smart spaces support creating smart museums based on digitized infrastructures and information systems already deployed in modern museums. Cultural heritage knowledge in such a museum is used by interested visitors as well as by personnel. This work continues the authors' research on the smart museum concept and its case study of everyday life history in the History Museum of Petrozavodsk State University (PetrSU). The authors develop an ontological model for the needs of studying the everyday life history. The ontology supports integrating descriptions of collected exhibits into a semantic network, where the links reflect meaningful relations between exhibits and other historical objects. They apply the wiki technology within the smart spaces-based architecture of a smart museum. The wiki implements an ontology-enabled system that experts use to extract and represent knowledge hidden in the museum collection. The authors discuss possible semantic algorithms for data mining in the museum semantic network.

Trematodes (flukes or digeneans) are by far the most abundant group of parasitic flatworms (Neodermata), and their importance for human and animal health is indisputable. In addition, they exhibit a variety of unique adaptations to parasitism and, probably most remarkably, possess extraordinarily complicated life-cycles. Classification of trematodes represents a very difficult task due to the huge number of existing species and variety of morphological forms, sites of infection within invertebrate and vertebrate hosts and ability to infect a wide spectrum of animals. Therefore, identification of any trematode may represent a problem even for an experienced specialist. This is the reason why I appreciated so much the publication of the first volume of the Keys to the Trematoda in 2002.

E-health becomes one of the internet's products for healthcare. The problems of health service such as far hospital and expensive examination fees become the emergence of this technology. Consequently, people reluctant to check their health to hospital. E-health provides information on disease prevention, detecting early symptoms, and monitoring the patient's condition based on medical parameters from a far distance. Internet of things became the main concept in this system, which combines wearable sensors, communication systems, and mobile user interfaces. Reliable and valid system, easily carried, help the doctor to monitor patients from far distance expectantly to overcome the problems. The aims of this paper review are describing how an internet of things technology and wearable sensor help medical science and find the best way to create a health monitoring system.

The concept of Cyber-Medicine System (CMS) is applied to research and development of medical information systems where the Internet is used to integrate medical devices and healthcare services into the system and to connect patients and medical professionals. In this paper, the authors generalize the concept to Socio-CMS, where the social world is added to the fusion of physical and cyber worlds. The social world affects the end-user activity and provides opportunities for collaborative work. A semantic layer is introduced to integrate all system and domain objects from the three digitalized worlds into a smart space: multi-source data, ongoing processes, situation attributes, reasoning rules, and human activity. All objects are dynamically related, leading to such a knowledge-rich structure as a semantic network. Data mining and analytics apply semantic algorithms for this network, including the Big Data case. The derived knowledge feeds construction of advanced healthcare services for supporting medical professionals and for assisting patients.

Semantic Network Manual Annotation and its Evaluation The present contribution is a brief extract of (Novák, 2008). The Prague Dependency Treebank (PDT) is a valuable resource of linguistic information annotated on several layers. These layers range from morphemic to deep and they should contain all the linguistic information about the text. The natural extension is to add a semantic layer suitable as a knowledge base for tasks like question answering, information extraction etc. In this paper I set up criteria for this representation, explore the possible formalisms for this task and discuss their properties. One of them, Multilayered Extended Semantic Networks (Multi-Net), is chosen for further investigation. Its properties are described and an annotation process set up. I discuss some practical modifications of MultiNet for the purpose of manual annotation. MultiNet elements are compared to the elements of the deep linguistic layer of PDT. The tools and problems of the annotation process are presented and initial annotation data evaluated.

By research on using key technologies of Internet of Things, can improve the efficiency of the agricultural products logistics; reduce the cost of agricultural products circulation effectively. And it also can provide agricultural products information services more efficient, convenient and accurate for agricultural products, vendors and general users.
