Theoretical Framework and Denotatum-Based Models of Knowledge Creation for Monitoring and Evaluating R&D Program Implementation

The paper presents two semiotic models for a description of development stages of indicators, including generation processes of expert knowledge about developed indicators. For the description of stages of these processes, a new notion of “Frege’s space“ is introduced. The authors described two applied semiotic models of knowledge acquisition. Those processes were studied in the context of forming an expert knowledge base named proactive dictionary, which represents a component of an evaluation system. This dictionary enables experts to fix stages of indicators development, to present the results of developing different variants of indicators in graphic form, to compare and evaluate these variants.

This paper presents a novel approach, which is based on integrated (automatic/interactive) knowledge acquisition, to rapidly develop knowledge-based systems. Linguistic rules compatible with heuristic expert knowledge are used to construct the knowledge base. A fuzzy inference mechanism is used to query the knowledge base for problem solving. Compared with the traditional interview-based knowledge acquisition, our approach is more flexible and requires a shorter development cycle. The traditional approach requires several rounds of interviews (both structured and unstructured). However, our method involves an optional initial interview, followed by data collection, automatic rule generation, and an optional final interview/rule verification process. The effectiveness of our approach is demonstrated through a benchmark case study and a real-life manufacturing application.

AbstractA tool is introduced for the acquisition of pathology knowledge in a formalized form, directly by the expert. Formalization of the knowledge is intended to make descriptive pathology knowledge more suitable for computerized diagnostic support since a formal representation of knowledge allows more extensive indexing, hence more flexible access. The knowledge acquisition (KA) tool also provides a useful research instrument to investigate to what extent pathology knowledge can be made explicit, to what degree ambiguity is present, in what way experts differ when formalizing knowledge, and whether it is feasible to incrementally acquire decision criteria on the basis of the formalized descriptive knowledge.Crucial in the design of the KA tool is the incorporated meta-knowledge, which is reflected by the knowledge-base structure and is used to elicit knowledge from the expert. Knowledge is acquired from the expert via a menu-driven user interface, which follows the general steps of the pathologist when describing a case. The paper discusses the considerations underlying the design, the implementation of the KA tool, and the research goals.

Crowdsourcing in the form of innovation contests stimulates knowledge creation external to the firm by distributing technical, innovation-related problems to external solvers and by proposing a fixed monetary reward for solutions. While prior work demonstrates that innovation contests can generate solutions of value to the firm, little is known about how problems are formulated for such contests. We investigate problem formulation in a multiple exploratory case study of seven firms and inductively develop a theoretical framework that explains the mechanisms of formulating sharable problems for innovation contests. The chapter contributes to the literatures on crowdsourcing and open innovation by providing a rare account of the intra-organizational implications of engaging in innovation contests and by providing initial clues to problem formulation—a critical antecedent to firms’ ability to leverage external sources of innovation.

A performance evaluation system of finance transportation projects is mainly researched, in which the sub-module of the highway projects evaluation, waterway projects evaluation, Passenger stations projects evaluation, Energy saving projects evaluation are incorporated. In addition, the expert knowledge are inserted in the system, the multi-layer neural network and fuzzy-set theory are used to implement Performance Evaluation system of Finance invest Transportation Projects, and the feasibility and effectiveness of the evaluation system are finally verified by practice.

This article examines the specialized knowledge practices of two sets of culturally recognized ‘experts’ in Senegal: Islamic clerics and craftsmen. Their respective bodies of knowledge are often regarded as being in opposition, and in some respects antithetical, to one another. The aim of this article is to examine this claim by means of an investigation of how knowledge is conceived by each party. The analysis attempts to expose local epistemologies, which are deduced from an investigation of ‘expert’ knowledge practices and indigenous claims to knowledge. The social processes of knowledge acquisition and transmission are also examined with reference to the idea of initiatory learning. It is in these areas that commonalities between the bodies of knowledge and sets of knowledge practices are to be found. Yet, despite parallels between the epistemologies of both bodies of expertise and between their respective modes of knowledge transmission, the social consequences of ‘expertise’ are different in each case. The hierarchical relations of power that inform the articulation of the dominant clerics with marginalized craftsmen groups serve to profile ‘expertise’ in different ways, each one implying its own sense of authority and social range of legitimacy.

<p>Universities because of the importance and position they play in the every countries’ socio-economic development, require attention to personnel social capital at the university, because the social capital, makes effective knowledge management possible.</p><p>With respect to the importance of social and human capital and knowledge management, the present study was done to explore the relationship between social capital and knowledge management with emphasis on the human capital.<strong> </strong></p><p>This research is survey- descriptive of correlation type and the required data were collected through library-field. The subjects in this study consist of Payame Noor University staff of Hormozgan province.</p><p>In this study, 54 staff of Bandar Abbas Payame Noor University were selected through random sampling. After gathering the required data through knowledge management questionnaire, knowledge management processes were measured based on the five dimensions such as the capture of knowledge, acquisition of knowledge, transmission of knowledge, creation of knowledge and application of knowledge. In order to provide for the reliability of the questionaire cronbachs alpha was used. In order to check the significance of the difference between responses descriptive and inferential statistics such as regression, one way anova and t test were run using SPSS version 20. The result show that the staff means score of knowledge management was 76/66±20/48. The result shows that there was a significant relationship between social capital and knowledge management. Also there was a significant relationship between social capital and the five components of knowledge management such as capture of knowledge, acquisition of knowledge, transmission of knowledge, creation of knowledge and application of knowledge. Also there was a significant relationship between human capital and the component of knowledge management.</p>

To maximize the efficiency of knowledge learning, it is essential that the knowledge system itself be well structured. Well designed knowledge systems make easy to access for knowledge acquisition and extraction. Expert knowledge plays a role controlling. We propose a Hierarchical modular system with an expert-knowledge gating mechanism that consists of mechanisms for acquiring knowledge, constructing associative memory and enabling knowledge inference and extraction based on expert-knowledge gating. We applied this to medical diagnostics for classifying Viruses (coxackie, echovirus and cold virus), Rhinitis (Nonallergic and allergic) and tested using symptom data.

<p><strong>Abstrak</strong>; Makalah ini ditulis dengan tujuan untuk menjelaskan tentang manajemen mahasiswa <em>part</em><em>-</em><em>time</em> yang telah dilakukan oleh Perpustakaan UIN Sunan Kalijaga. Hal ini perlu disampaikan karena masih banyak perpustakaan Perguruan Tinggi di Indonesia yang belum memberdayakan mahasiswanya untuk ikut bersama-sama mengelola perpustakaan melalui kegiatan mahasiswa <em>part</em><em>-</em><em>time</em>. Dalam makalah yang ditulis berdasarkan <em>best practice</em> ini akan dijelaskan berbagai hal dalam pengelolaan mahasiswa <em>part</em><em>-</em><em>time</em>, yaitu mulai dari (1) perencanaan program; (2) pelaksanaan program; (3) hasil pelaksanaan program; (4) sistem monitoring dan evaluasi; (4) dampak pelaksanaan program; sampai pada (5) perubahan sebagia akibat pelaksanaan program.</p><p>Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini, maka diketahui bahwa program rutin kegiatan mahasiswa <em>part-time</em> di Perpustakaan UIN Sunan Kalijaga ini tidak hanya bermanfaat bagi perpustakaan UIN Sunan Kalijaga dalam memperlancar kegiatan layanan, tetapi program ini juga bermanfaat bagi mahasiswa itu sendiri, yaitu selain membuat mereka menjadi merasa bangga, juga membuat mereka menghargai waktu, membagi waktu belajar dan bekerja. Selain itu, bagi yang sudah bekerja setelah lulus, pengalaman selama menjadi mahasiswa <em>part</em><em>-</em><em>time</em> juga menjadi modal yang berharga dalam bekerja.</p><strong><em>Abstract</em></strong><em>; The aim of this paper is to explain the part-time student management that has been done by UIN Sunan Kalijaga Library. It needs to be submitted because many college libraries in Indonesia haven’t empower their students to participate together to manage the library through part-time student activities. In this paper that based on best practice will be explained various things in part-time student management, from (1) program planning; (2) program implementation; (3) program implementation result; (4) monitoring and evaluation system; (5) program implementation impact; until (6) change as a result of the implementation of the program. </em><p><strong><em></em></strong><em>Based on this research, noted that part-time students routine program activities in UIN Sunan Kalijaga Library is not only useful for UIN Sunan Kalijaga Library to facilitate the service activity, but this program is useful for the students themselves, which in addition will make them proud, also make them appreciate the time, manage their time for study and work. Moreover, for them who have been working after graduation, the experience during being a part-time student also becomes a valuable asset in working.</em></p><p><strong><em></em></strong><em><br /></em></p>

We reflect specifically on the curriculum for bachelor’s level program in communication design. We propose a model of education which we define as “metadisciplinary” and which is grounded on the acquisition of competences rather than the acquisition of specific contents. Our objective is to show how a metadisciplinary didactic model can benefit from the weak epistemological status of the knowledge base of communication design. According to the idea that didactics can be treated as a science of design, we propose a model of educational design based on a metadisciplinary stance. First we describe two fundamental aspects of the model proposed: (1) the development of habitus of thought and action and (2) the distributed and collective nature of expert knowledge. Next, we discuss the notion of curriculum architecture. Finally, we describe a basic set of metadisciplinary competences that we have identified for students in the field of communication design.
