The aim of this thesis is carrying out a study on the residential architectural design in the central and western parts of Inner Mongolia, with an analysis on existing problems on the window design, based on the theory of residential building design and the energy-saving policy, in order to come up with an optimization of residential window design in severe cold zones.

In this paper, through the analyzing the present situation of residential building of towns and villages in severe cold region of Jilin Province, it put forward that the existing problems of residential building of towns and villages, combined with the special climatic characteristics of Jilin Province located in the severe cold region, the importance of actively applying energy-saving measures is pointed out in the construction of residential building design, providing theoretical support for the development of the construction of energy saving residential building of towns and villages in severe cold region.

We followed the green building design concept and the control items list in those standards during structure design of one of the residential area in Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-city, which consist of 15~18-story residential building connected to a large underground garage, as is shown below.

The residential building is a critical factor to reflect the relations between human and natural environment, and it is required that the residential design is more flexible, healthier and more environmentally friendly and is capable of fully responding to the demands and changes in family life and harmonizing with the environment, as the time goes on and progresses, the concept of “Sustainable & Open Residence” (SOR) has been promoted and applied by many countries, also attracted considerable attentions in the process of the China's Housing Industrialization. Green residential building is energy conservation, environmental protection, healthy and comfortable and stress efficiency. Green building respects the local natural and humanities, climate. Adjust measures to local conditions, use local materials, so there is no definite construction patterns and rules. In this paper a green residential buildings from Shenyang, focus on the analysis of the well insulated building envelope, radiant floor heating system with control system, solar hot water system in the building. At the same time, analysis of the energy saving technology can reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions compare with "Residential building energy saving design standards "at Liaoning area. The project gives some experience to other designers in the process of green buildings design and promotes it constructed in the northeastern regions.

It is not only saving the resources, alleviating the energy crisis, but also improves people’s life quality for using energy-saving technology in public construction projects. Based on the case of the cultural center of Shanghai Expo, we analyzed its energy saving technology and summarized the application of energy-saving technology in the design of public buildings in China.

Combining with engineering examples, this paper introduces BIM into architectural design model and adopts Revit rapid modeling. It focuses on realizing rapid combination modeling of similar components through secondary development, improving information conversion efficiency between engineering CAD and Revit building structure modeling, and quickly generating BIM structure construction drawings.
