The softening point of modified asphalt is an extremely important indicator to evaluate the high-temperature performance; its the temperature of modified asphalt sample emerging shear deformation under the action of certain shear stress according to the specific heating rate. Its found that in the actual construction and testing, different temperature conditions has a larger impact on the softening point of the modified asphalt, which has adverse affect on road construction. This paper studied and researched the influence of temperature on modified asphalt softening point indicators from the different test temperature, including packing compact temperature, scraper temperature in removal of asphalt that above test mode, standing temperature, curing temperature and initial heating temperature before test.

In order to evaluate the impact of Sasobit on asphalt, the 2%,3%,4% and 5% Sasobit by mass of asphalt are blended into two types of base asphalts (Pen 60/80 and SBS modified asphalt).The mixed asphalt will be called as Sasobit modified asphalt in this study. The 15°C, 25°Cand 30°Cpenetration, the softening point, the 60°C and 135°Cviscosity, the 5°Cductility of Sasobit modified asphalt are tested. The temperature susceptibility of Sasobit modified asphalt is evaluated by using PI, VTS, PVN25-135 and PIR&B. The linear relationships between PI and PIR&B or VTS and PVN25-135 are confirmed. As the addition of Sasobit can differently change the viscosity or rheology of Sasobit modified asphalt under different temperature, it has been shown that the temperature susceptibility of Sasobit modified asphalt become better within the normal temperature range (0°C~50°C) but become higher within the high temperature range (60°C~135°C) as the additive content increases. It has been proved that Sasobit have a different impact of asphalt’s temperature susceptibility at different temperature range. So it is not appropriate to express the temperature susceptibility of Sasobit modified asphalt using a conventional index PI. This study suggests that PI and PVN can be used as indicators of the temperature susceptibility of Sasobit modified asphalt within the normal temperature range and high temperature range respectively.

To explore the relationships between the performances and microstructures of modified asphalt, in the tests, one kind of basic asphalt、two kinds of modifiers and four kinds of modifiers content were selected to prepare modified asphalt. The SBS modified asphalt performances such as softening point, viscosity, Rutting Factor G*/sinδ and the corresponding microstructures with different shearing time were analyzed. The results show that different modifiers have different modification effects on the asphalt,but the change trends of performances and microstructures with the modifier content and shearing time are basically the same. It is also found that there is a good relationship between microstructure and macro performance, the average area of the modifier is closely related to the softening point, total area (or area percentage) and the shape factor of the modifier are suitable to reflect the mechanical behavior of modified asphalts.

Microscale flyash/SBS composite modified asphalts (CMA) were prepared by melt blending. Rolling thin film oven test (RTFOT) was employed to study the anti-aging property. Both flyash and SBS disperse homogeneously in the base asphalt, which lead to an improvement in terms of toughness, strength, and thermal stability. Moreover, microscale flyash plays a significant role in the CMA. The effect of flyash on the properties of SBS modified asphalt appears as a decreasing penetration, an increasing softening point, and a decreasing ductility. The anti-deformation ability under high temperature of the CMA improved significantly. In comparison with that of the base asphalt, the softening point of the CMA decreases after aging, which maybe attribute to the different rheological properties between the CMA and the base asphalt. Compared to that of SBS modified asphalt, the anti-aging property of CMA improved significantly. This demonstrates that the microstructure of flyash can prevent oxygen from diffusing and permeating.

In this paper, two base asphalt types representing two oil sources and two modifiers (linear and star-shaped) are processed. This paper discusses the relation between dosage of SBS and the characteristics of SBS modified asphalt. Modified effects related to the structure and molecular weight of SBS. The modification effect of star-shaped modifier is better but the processing performance of linear modifier is better. The index of evaluating the production quality of SBS modified asphalt is proposed and the basis of controlling the construction quality of SBS modified asphalt is provided. Through the analyses of modified asphalt with different variety and different SBS dosage in conventional experiments such as penetration, ductility, softening point and the relation between the dosage of SBS and various technical performances of SBS modified asphalt is obtained. After the modified, penetration is decreased and softening point and ductility is increased, which prolonged the service life of pavement.

According to the test results of before and after the aging of asphalt performance,we analyse the dosage changes of the HALS anti ultraviolet ageing agent to improve SBS modified asphalt ultraviolet light resistance aging performance role. The test results show that GW-944 can better improve the ultraviolet resistance of asphalt aging performance, i.e., original sample asphalt have no other negative influence in a certain extent, and at the same time,also improve asphalt fatigue performance, low temperature performance and high temperature performance after the light aging, but the performance improvement needs to be in the right dosage range;Therefore,to the SBS modified asphalt we can use such ultraviolet aging agent for performance improvement,the research achievement for the airport asphalt pavement UV aging provide a technical basis for effective prevention and treatment.

To study the effect of aging SBS modified asphalt on the performance of asphalt pavement, aging at various times and temperatures was conducted with thin film oven, and then tests were made about the penetration, softening point, ductility, viscosity, toughness, and fluorescence microscopy of modified asphalt with different aging levels. The results show that, with the increasing of aging time, the penetration and ductility of modified asphalt decrease while its softening point and viscosity increase, and the variation trend of the toughness and tenacity is related to the aging temperature; the aging dynamic model with viscosity as parameter can well characterize the aging process of modified asphalt; at microlevel, with the decreasing of SBS particle size, the uniformity of particle size is better. Analysis of macroscopic properties, microscopic characteristics, and significance shows that the SBS particle area ratio has a significant correlation with tenacity as the aging temperature changes. When the aging temperature is 163°C, the SBS particle area ratio still has a significant correlation with tenacity as the aging time changes.

Nano-montmorillonite (Nano-MMT)/SBS composite modified asphalts were prepared by melt blending, the aging property of which was detected by rolling thin film oven test (RTFOT) method. The microstructure of Nano-MMT/SBS modified asphalts was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD). The results demonstrated that nano-composite structures formed by the intercalation effect of SBS and asphalt into the MMT lamellae, which led to improvement in terms of toughness, strength, and thermal stability. In comparison with SBS modified asphalt, Nano-MMT impact on the properties of the modified asphalt appeared as a decreasing penetration, an increasing softening point, and a decreasing ductility. The anti-deformation ability under high temperature of Nano-MMT/SBS modified asphalt improved significantly. The softening point of the Nano-MMT/SBS modified asphalt decreased after aging, in contrast with that of the base asphalt, which could be attributed to the different rheological properties between the Nano-MMT/SBS modified asphalt and the base asphalt. Compared with that of SBS modified asphalt, the anti-aging property of Nano-MMT/SBS modified asphalt improved dramatically. This indicated that the lamellar structure of montomorillonite in modified asphalt could prevent oxygen from diffusing and permeating in matrix and the thermo-oxidative aging of base asphalt and SBS weakens.

Abstract: Road construction in Indonesia in the stage of implementation has not been able to fully meet the needs of transportation, it is indicated by the presence of early failure due to an increase in vehicle load and climate change. Many attempts have been made to improve the quality of the mixture, one with a polymer modified asphalt. Cigarette filters are made of cellulose acetate thousands of polymer chains, once discharged into the environment, cigarette filter making a big issue of the environmental impact. The content in the form of cigarette filter waste cellulosic polymer asitate which has thermoplastic properties, binding with plasticizers, resistant to heat and pressure. Therefore, it is necessary to study polymer modified asphalt with subtitution filter cigarettes waste into the asphalt. In this study, cigarette filter waste is substituted into the asphalt at 2%, 3%, and 4%. The aims of this study is able to know the utilization of filter cigarettes waste as improving the quality of asphalt concrete and efficient use of asphalt and waste reduction. The Impact of using cigarette filter waste higher in AC-WC mixture tend increased the parameter Marshall, especially the value of stability and MQ. The highest  MQ and stability value obtained in AC-WC mixture with 4% subtitution  cigarette filter waste and 5.81% asphalt content, those are 3107.67 kg and 112.81 kg / mm. No big changes in the VMA and density value for all substitution percentage variation of cigarette filter waste. VFA and flow value decrease with increasing the percentage of cigarette filter waste, while the VIM value tends to increase. The durability value of AC-WC mixture with and without substitution percentage variation cigarette filter waste meets the requirements, those were 90%.Abstrak: Pembangunan jalan di Indonesia dalam tahap pelaksanaanya belum mampu sepenuhnya memenuhi kebutuhan transportasi, hal tersebut terindikasi dengan adanya kerusakan dini akibat dari peningkatan beban kendaraan dan perubahan iklim. Banyak usaha telah dilakukan untuk meningkatkan kualitas campuran, salah satunya dengan menggunakan aspal modifikasi polimer. Filter rokok terbuat dari ribuan rantai polimer selulosa asetat, setelah dibuang ke lingkungan, filter rokok membuat masalah besar akan dampak lingkungan. Kandungan di dalam limbah filter rokok tersebut berupa polimer selulosa asitate yang memiliki sifat termoplastik, berikatan dengan plasticizers, tahan terhadap panas dan tekanan. Oleh karena itu perlu dilakukan penelitian aspal modifikasi polimer dengan mensubtitusikan limbah filter rokok ke dalam aspal. Pada penelitian ini limbah filter rokok disubtitusikan ke dalam aspal sebesar 2%, 3%, dan 4%. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah dapat diketahuinya pemanfaatan limbah filter rokok sebagai upaya peningkatan mutu campuran aspal beton serta penghematan penggunaan aspal dan pengurangan limbah. Dampak penggunaan limbah filter rokok yang semakin tinggi dalam campuran AC-WC membuat peningkatkan pada nilai parameter Marshall, terutama nilai stabilitas dan MQ. Nilai stabilitas dan MQ tertinggi didapat pada campuran limbah filter rokok dengan persentase limbah filter rokok 4% dan kadar aspal 5,81% yaitu 3107,67 kg dan 112,81 kg/mm. Nilai density dan VMA tidak terjadi perubahan yang besar untuk semua substitusi variasi persentase limbah filter rokok. Nilai flow dan VFA mengalami penurunan seiring dengan peningkatan persentase limbah filter rokok, sedangkan nilai VIM cenderung meningkat. Untuk nilai durabilitas campuran AC-WC dengan dan tanpa substitusi variasi persentase limbah filter rokok telah memenuhi persyaratan yaitu 90%.

Warm mix agent is the key factor to restrict the performance of warm mix asphalt. In this paper, methods of X-ray diffraction, thermal stability test, and laser particle size analysis were used to test and analyze the internal structure, composition, and properties of three kinds of warm mix agents. In order to study the performance impact of the warm mix agent on SBS-modified asphalt, the warm mix agents of Advera®, LTA synthetic zeolite, and 13X synthetic zeolite were added to SBS-modified asphalt in different contents. The three kinds of warm mix asphalt were tested by the experiments of softening point, penetration, and ductility to analyze their physical properties. The testing results showed that the softening point of three kinds of warm mix SBS-modified asphalt is greater than the softening point of SBS-modified asphalt without adding warm agents, which indicate the warm mix additives can improve the high-temperature stability of SBS-modified asphalt. The three kinds of the warm mix agent make SBS-modified asphalt hard, and the consistency and the ability of resisting deformation increase. The low temperature performance of SBS-modified asphalt decreased in different degrees with mixing different zeolite warm mix agents.

Through the pull-out tests of the following three pavement sealing techniques: rubber asphalt, SBS modified asphalt and SBR modified emulsified asphalt, a contrast was made to analyze the influence of temperature on the pull-out strength and the displacement value of damaged sealing coats, so as to analyze the temperature sensitivity of the three sealing coats of synchronous pavements. The results show that: the rubber asphalt sealing coat, modified by the rubber power, has good temperature sensitivity and the temperature susceptibility of asphalt has been improved, with a greater ductility in low temperature and a better resistance to flow deformation in high temperature.
