In order to get brittle shear characteristics of rock material, acoustic emission accompanied with triaxial stress-strain test was applied to monitor the emergence and development of micro cracks. Theoretical analysis and data processing were conducted based on the theories of fracture mechanics and general rock mechanics, relations between the feature strength of three stages and the stress state were obtained, and a method was put forward for analyzing the brittle shear failure of rock material. The relationship of the Mohr-Coulomb strength theory, Griffith strength theory and Hoek-Brown criterion with the brittle-shear strength model were established. Strength analysis of mixed granite in Shuichang slope was carried out by the brittle shear failure model, and the theoretical value and experimental value has a good consistency.

Soil–rock mixture is a special geological material between homogeneous soil masses and fractured rock masses. In this study, the shear characteristics, movement and failure characteristics of particles and the evolution law of cracks were studied by direct shear tests and particle flow numerical simulations. The results show that the shear stress-shear displacement curves of the soil–rock mixture can be roughly classified into three stages: elastic stage, plastic stage and strain softening stage, and there was a "jump" phenomenon. The higher the rock content was, the more obvious the phenomenon. The shear strength and its indices of the soil–rock mixture did not increase with increasing rock content, but there was an "optimal rock content". According to the experimental and simulation results, particle breakage can be divided into three types: slight failure, partial failure and complete failure. The crack propagation characteristics can be divided into three stages, and the crack propagation depth increases with increasing shear displacement. It increases with increasing vertical stress and decreases with increasing block rock content.

The most common way to assess handedness is based on the preferred hand for writing, leading to a binary (left or right) trait. Handedness can also be assessed as a continuous trait with laterality indexes, but these are not time- and cost-effective, and are not routinely collected. Rarely, different handedness measures are collected for the same individuals. Here, we assessed the relationship of preferred hand for writing with four laterality indexes, reported in previous literature, derived from measures of dexterity (pegboard task, marking squares and sorting matches) and strength (grip strength), available in a range of N = 6664–8069 children from the ALSPAC cohort. Although all indexes identified a higher proportion of individuals performing better with their right hand, they showed low correlation with each other (0.08–0.3). Left handers were less consistent compared to right handers in performing better with their dominant hand, but that varied across indexes, i.e. 13% of left handers performed better with their right hand on marking squares compared to 48% for sorting matches and grip strength. Analysis of sex effects on the laterality indexes showed that males and females tend to be, on all measures, more left- and right-lateralized, respectively. Males were also over-represented among the individuals performing equally with both hands suggesting they had a higher tendency to be weakly lateralized. This study shows that different handedness measures tap into different dimensions of laterality and cannot be used interchangeably. The trends observed across indexes for males and females suggest that sex effects should be taken into account in handedness and laterality studies.

Healthy relationship among the buyer and supplier is the only way to remain competitive in the incentive market. It is the only way to retain the business and the customers. If buyer and supplier are not having this partnership then they might not be enjoying the best outcomes. The objective of this thesis is to examine the core factors that dictate buyer (Super Market) and Supplier (Distributor) relationship in retail industry. In this research, aspects has been studied that could have affected or affects the relationship of buyer & supplier in positive or negative manner. The research has covered the retail market and will be dictating the key aspects of maintaining the healthy buyer and supplier relationships. This will be helping the retail owners and retail brands to gain the competitive edge from others and always remain ahead. This research will help both the stakeholders of this industry to maintain healthy relationships between them and indicates them that what the issues that create problems between them are.The thesis employed an empirical approach designed in three stages; aggregate and firm level analysis using official data, firm level analysis using survey and finally case studies aimed at providing deeper insights into the underlying issues observed in the survey findings. Three literature strands were adopted: spillover, cluster and network dynamics.

From the craft production of the Gothic to the standardised industrial production of the Bauhaus, this research follows the development of modern architecture and the evolution of façade construction. This paper examines how, as technology has continued to advance and modes of production have evolved, complete dematerialisation - defined in this paper as a non-structural glass exterior walls - of the façade was achieved with the curtain wall. This research aimed to establish a link between Gothic and Bauhaus architecture to propose a lineage for modern curtain wall façade production and construction. The paper argues that changing modes of production is in response to construction issues, technological innovation and are dependent on the socio-cultural context of a specific time. Presenting a lineage that places this evolution into three stages - pre-industrial, industrial, and post-industrial - the relationship of architecture, technology and how construction methods respond to new technology will be illustrated. This paper will examine the curtain wall's arrival in New Zealand as a case study for the international dissemination of this system, to conclude with a discussion that outlines how the architecture of a post-industrial age both favours and can produce customised and complex façades.

The purpose of this research is to know the influence of Malay and Islam in shaping the social character of Palembang Malay workers in global economic development. The Islamic economic norms embedded and rooted in the local social identity of the local Malays are the key determinants of evaluative aspects of a judging nature. This research departs from the reason as Ushul Fiqih's written adage says "Al-Muhafazhatu'alal 'qadimis salih wal-akhdzu bil jadidil ashlah" which means "Maintaining a good old value and seeking new value better.” Field research with the participation of observations and in-depth interviews uses a qualitative approach. Respondents in this study are Palembang original Malay Muslim community, spread over 14 districts using random sampling technique. While the method of data analysis is cyclical of three stages: data collection, data display and data verification.           The results of this study prove that excessive material competition in the global economy has resulted in an anomic Palembang Malay society. Achievements in the economic field, it turns out to have transformed Palembang Malay people into a generation that is uprooted from values, fragile from the spiritual aspect, give up easily and lose socio-economic footing. The relationship of Malayness and Islamism obscures the role and competitiveness of Palembang Malay Muslims themselves in the global economic arena.

AbstractRecently, a number of critical social theorists have argued that the analysis of social relations of unfreedom should take into account the phenomenon of self-subordination. In my article, I draw on Hegel’s theory of recognition to elucidate this phenomenon and show that recognition can be not only a means of self-realization, but also of subjugation. I develop my argument in three steps: As a first step, I reconstruct the idea of social pathologies in the tradition of Critical Theory. In the course of this reconstruction, it becomes clear that the analysis of social pathologies should focus on the binding force of recognition. As a second step, I reinterpret Hegel and show that a close reading of the relationship of lordship and bondage can help us to understand how a subject can become bound by recognition. As a third step, I make an attempt at reactualizing Hegel’s idea. Following Sartre’s analysis of anti-Semitism, I outline three stages of how subjects can gradually come to subordinate themselves and become entrapped in social relations of unfreedom such as race, class or gender.

Abstract Dysphagia refers to the feeling of difficulty in passing food or liquid from the mouth to the stomach and requires rapid neuromuscular coordination not only of the esophagus but also structures in the oral cavity, pharynx, and larynx during a brief cessation of respiration. The swallowing mechanism can be separated into three stages: oral, pharyngeal, and esophageal. Disabilities resulting directly from dysphagia may arise secondary to aspiration, and the ongoing risk of aspiration has several consequences: limited oral intake of solid food and liquids, restriction of the diet (eg, to foods of a certain consistency), need for assistance when eating, and discomfort associated with eating. Evaluation usually includes assessment by a speech-language pathologist and often is supplemented by a modified barium swallow or a fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing. The AMA Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment describes the process for evaluating impairment for dysphagia in Chapter 4, The Nervous System, Chapter 9, Ear, Nose, Throat, and Related Structures, and Chapter 10, The Digestive System. Section 9.3b, Mastication and Deglutition, includes information about the relationship of dietary restrictions to permanent impairment. Impairment for dysphagia is determined by considering the underlying cause for the dysphagia, dietary restrictions, feeding requirements, and complications.

"The relationship of Joseph de Maistre’s essays with prophetism has been a central theme in the studies dedicated to the author. This article reviews and qualifies this approach by distinguishing within Maistre’s work the theoretical characteristics of the prophetic perspective in three stages of analysis: the writer’s opinions on prophetic vision and prophetic action, the testimonies that singular contemporaries formulated on the prophetic scope of his works and, finally, the consideration of his discourse as a prophetic discourse, both for certain rhetorical features and for its subject matter, centered on the evolution of the proposals of his political prophetism. The research concludes by highlighting that the notion of prophetic impulse is the key to the cohesion of the Maistrinian corpus"
