Purpose:To explore the feasibility and repeatability of a novel glasses-free display combined with random-dot stimulus and eye-tracking technology for screening stereopsis in adults. Methods:A total of 74 patients aged 18–44 years were recruited in this study (male: female, 32:42), including 33 patients with high myopia [≤ -6.0 diopters (D)] and 41 patients with moderate-to-low myopia (>-6.0 D). Stereopsis was measured using glasses-free, polarized, and Titmus stereotests. All patients completed a visual fatigue questionnaire after the polarized stereotest and glasses-free test. Kendall's W and Cohen's Kappa tests were used to evaluate repeatability and consistency of the glasses-free stereotest. Results:The stereotest results using the glasses-free monitor showed strong repeatability in the three consecutive tests (W = 0.968, P < 0.01) and good consistency with the polarized stereotest and Titmus test results (vs. polarization: Kappa = 0.910, P < 0.001; vs. Titmus: Kappa = 0.493, P < 0.001). Stereopsis levels of the high myopia group were significantly poorer than those of the moderate-to-low myopia group in three stereotest monitors (all P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in visual fatigue level between the polarized and the glasses-free display test (P = 0.72). Compared with the polarized test, 56.76% of patients preferred the glasses-free display and found it more comfortable, 20.27% reported both tests to be acceptable. Conclusions:In our adult patients, the new eye-tracking glasses-free display system feasibly screened stereopsis with good repeatability, consistency, and patient acceptance.

The creation and implementation of innovation proposals in education can provide a new key towards sustainable development. We are aware that schools perform very different innovations but often, with very low levels of impact and dissemination in their community. There are not many studies that describe, put a value on, categorize or analyse the innovations. This study sought to gain insight into the ICT innovations produced in Spanish primary and pre-primary schools. A quantitative approach based on a questionnaire was used to collect the data, named MANEDUIN, completed by 86 teachers selected by stratified random sampling (public - private, rural - urban). The reliability and the construct-related validity was evaluated from the questionnaire and the validity of content decided by means of experts’ judgment. Our findings point to a good consistency in the questionnaire (Cronbach’s Alpha: 0.848). The descriptive statistics and the analysis were made by factorial categories. The results of the factorial analysis confirm the dimensions proposed in the design of the questionnaire in the categories of the factors included in the innovation (social cohesion, interaction with the community, technologies, and success), the innovative schools and their characteristics, the topic and the type of innovation (on resources, direction, materials and time), as well as the obstacles to the innovation. This paper concludes that the questionnaire MANEDUIN is a valid and reliable tool to measure the management of schools’ innovations.

A camera-based method using Technetium-99m diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (Tc-99m DTPA) is commonly used to calculate glomerular filtration rate (GFR), especially, as it can easily calculate split renal function. Renal depth is the main factor affecting the measurement of GFR accuracy. This study aimed to compare the difference of renal depths between three formulae and a CT scan, and, additionally, to calculate the GFRs by four methods. We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of patients receiving a renal dynamic scan. All patients underwent a laboratory test within one month, and a computed tomography (CT) scan within two months, before or after the renal dynamic scan. The GFRs were calculated by employing a renal dynamic scan using renal depth measured in three formulae (Tonnesen’s, Itoh K’s, and Taylor’s), and a CT scan. The renal depths measured by the above four methods were compared, and the GFRs were compared to the modified estimated GFR (eGFR). Fifty-one patients were enrolled in the study. The mean modified eGFR was 60.5 ± 42.7 mL/min. The mean GFRs calculated by three formulae and CT were 45.3 ± 23.3, 54.7 ± 27.5, 56.5 ± 26.3, and 63.7 ± 30.0, respectively. All of them correlated well with the modified eGFR (r = 0.87, 0.87, 0.87, and 0.84, respectively). The Bland–Altman plot revealed good consistency between the calculated GFR by Tonnesen’s and the modified eGFR. The renal depths measured using the three formulae were smaller than those measured using the CT scan, and the right renal depth was always larger than the left. In patients with modified eGFR > 60 mL/min, the GFR calculated by CT was the closest to the modified eGFR. The Renal depth measured by CT scan is deeper than that using formula, and it influences the GFR calculated by Gate’s method. The GFR calculated by CT is more closely related to modified eGFR when modified eGFR > 60 mL/min.

The Polar Multi-Sensor Aerosol product (PMAp) is based on the synergistic use of three instruments from the Metop platform, GOME-2, AVHRR, and IASI. The retrieval algorithm includes three major steps: a pre-identification of the aerosol class, a selection of the aerosol model, and a calculation of the Aerosol Optical Depth (AOD). This paper provides a detailed description of the PMAp retrieval, which combines information provided by the three instruments. The retrieved AOD is qualitatively evaluated, and a good temporal as well as spatial performance is observed, including for the transition between ocean and land. More quantitatively, the performance is evaluated by comparison to AERONET in situ measurements. Very good consistency is also observed when compared to other space-based data such as MODIS or VIIRS. The paper demonstrates the ability of this first generation of synergistic products to derive reliable AOD, opening the door for the development of synergistic products from the instruments to be embarked on the coming Metop Second Generation platform. PMAp has been operationally distributed in near-real-time since 2014 over ocean, and 2016 over land.

The two-dimensional water entry of bow-flared sections is studied by using a Multi-Material Arbitrary Lagrangian- Eulerian (MMALE) formulation and a penalty-coupling algorithm. A convergence study is carried out, considering the effects of mesh size, the dimension of fluids domain, and fluid leakage phenomenon through the structure. The predicted results on the wetted surface of a bow-flared section are compared with published experimental values in terms of vertical slamming force, pressure distributions at different time instances and the pressure histories at different points. Comparisons between the numerical results and measured values show satisfactory correlation. An approximation method is adopted to estimate the sectional slamming force showing good consistency for the peak forces.

It is of interest to study the use of copper tailings as a raw material to generate geopolymers due to the exorbitant amounts of existing tailings deposits, which also produce different risks to nearby communities. Therefore, using this industrial waste as construction material would result in several environmental and economic benefits. Due to the above, it is necessary to perform laboratory tests that account for the relevant variables to obtain fresh geopolymer pastes with good consistency, and to obtain hardened geopolymers with good mechanical strength. This report gives an account of the experimental work carried out in the laboratory of the CIMS Sustainable Mining Research Center of the Engineering Consulting Company JRI, exposing the preliminary results observed in the generation of geopolymers by means of seven different methods using copper tailings and NaOH. Of the seven methods evaluated in the laboratory, it was observed that two of them deliver better results from a qualitative point of view, where the influence of the curing stage stands out, reflecting that temperature is one of the critical variables for the formation of geopolymers based on copper tailings and NaOH. The best means to work the mixtures should be studied to optimize the solubility of the NaOH and, therefore, the dissolution of the aluminosilicates in the tailings.

Abstract Background At present, hepatectomy is still the most common and effective treatment method for intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) patients. However, the postoperative prognosis is poor. Therefore, the prognostic factors for these patients require further exploration. Whether microvascular invasion (MVI) plays a crucial role in the prognosis of ICC patients is still unclear. Moreover, few studies have focused on preoperative predictions of MVI in ICC patients. Methods Clinicopathological data of 704 ICC patients after curative resection were retrospectively collected from 13 hospitals. Independent risk factors were identified by the Cox or logistic proportional hazards model. In addition, the survival curves of the MVI-positive and MVI-negative groups before and after matching were analyzed. Subsequently, 341 patients from a single center (Eastern Hepatobiliary Hospital) in the above multicenter retrospective cohort were used to construct a nomogram prediction model. Then, the model was evaluated by the index of concordance (C-Index) and the calibration curve. Results After propensity score matching (PSM), Child-Pugh grade and MVI were independent risk factors for overall survival (OS) in ICC patients after curative resection. Major hepatectomy and MVI were independent risk factors for recurrence-free survival (RFS). The survival curves of OS and RFS before and after PSM in the MVI-positive groups were significantly different compared with those in the MVI-negative groups. Multivariate logistic regression results demonstrated that age, gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase (GGT), and preoperative image tumor number were independent risk factors for the occurrence of MVI. Furthermore, the prediction model in the form of a nomogram was constructed, which showed good prediction ability for both the training (C-index = 0.7622) and validation (C-index = 0.7591) groups, and the calibration curve showed good consistency with reality. Conclusion MVI is an independent risk factor for the prognosis of ICC patients after curative resection. Age, GGT, and preoperative image tumor number were independent risk factors for the occurrence of MVI in ICC patients. The prediction model constructed further showed good predictive ability in both the training and validation groups with good consistency with reality.

Abstract Runoff management is based on two main concepts: controlling runoff discharge and managing concentration (Tc). Tc is closely related to understanding ponding time (tp), which is associated with estimating the length of tp on a land surface. The present study aims to investigate the behavior of tp due to varying infiltration rates (f) and rainfall intensities (i) with different return periods (Tr). The ponding time (tp) was derived from graph analysis of infiltration rate and rainfall intensity with Tr 2, 5, and 10 years. Infiltration measurements were conducted at 8 points using a double-ring infiltrometer. Meanwhile, rainfall data were obtained from 2010 to 2019. The observed tp (tpobs ) was derived through overlying between infiltration rate curve and rainfall intensity. In contrast, empirical tp (tpemp ) was estimated using Horton’s formula. The result confirms that the infiltration rate followed an exponential curve and varying rainfall intensities. Infiltration rates give vary in tp where the longer Tr, the faster the initial time of tp. There was fairly good consistency between tpobs and tpemp as shown by relatively high-value R2 >0.6) for Tr 2, 5, and 10 years. It indicates that the Horton’s formula has reliable to estimate tp in the study area.

AbstractWe study gravitational wave production in an expanding Universe during the first stages following inflation, and investigate the consequences of the Gauss–Bonnet term on the inflationary parameters for a power-law inflation model with a GB coupling term. Moreover, we perform the analyses on the preheating parameters involving the number of e-folds $$N_{pre}$$ N pre , and the temperature of thermalization $$T_{th},$$ T th , and show that it’s sensitive to the parameters n, and $$\gamma $$ γ , the parameter $$\gamma $$ γ is proposed to connect the density energy at the end of inflation to the preheating energy density. We set a correlation of gravitational wave energy density spectrum with the spectral index $$n_{s}$$ n s detected by the cosmic microwave background experiments. The density spectrum $$\varOmega _{gw}$$ Ω gw shows good consistency with observation for $$\gamma =$$ γ = $$10^{3}$$ 10 3 and $$10^{6}$$ 10 6 . Our findings suggest that the generation of gravitational waves (GWs) during preheating can satisfy the constraints from Planck’s data.

The single- and double-electron capture (SEC, DEC) processes of He2+ ions colliding with Ne atoms are studied by utilizing the full quantum-mechanical molecular-orbital close-coupling method. Total and state-selective SEC and DEC cross sections are presented in the energy region of 2 eV/u to 20 keV/u. Results show that the dominant reaction channel is Ne+(2s2p 6 2 S) + He+(1s) in the considered energy region due to strong couplings with the initial state Ne(2s 22p 6 1 S) + He2+ around the internuclear distance of 4.6 a.u. In our calculations, the SEC cross sections decrease initially and then increase whereby, the minimum point is around 0.38 keV/u with the increase of collision energies. After considering the effects of the electron translation factor (ETF), the SEC cross sections are increased by 15%–25% nearby the energy region of keV/u and agree better with the available results. The DEC cross sections are smaller than those of SEC because of the larger energy gaps and no strong couplings with the initial state. Due to the Demkov-type couplings between DEC channel Ne2+(2s22p 4 1 S) + He(1s 2) and the dominating SEC channel Ne+(2s2p 6 2 S) + He+(1s), the DEC cross sections increase with increasing impact energies. Good consistency can also be found between the present DEC and the experimental measurements in the overlapping energy region.
