Research carried out the highway subgrade disease treatment technology research in volcanic karst crater region through the freeway construction instance in Hainan. And research introduces the hazards of the volcanic karst geology to subgrade, put forward the subgrade disease treatment principles and methods in volcanic karst region, and also defines subgrade disease treatment construction technology program of the uncovered karst disease and the covered karst disease by the scene test of grouting treatment. Research provides the basis of subgrade disease treatment construction techniques and methods in volcanic karst crater region.

Abstract In 1992, GRACE Dearborn, Inc. was contracted by Environment Canada to conduct a field-scale demonstration of the DARAMEND bioremediation technology under the auspices of the Great Lakes Cleanup Fund's Contaminated Sediment Treatment Technology Program. The demonstration on approximately 150 tonnes of sediment dredged from Hamilton Harbour was completed by January 1994. Two distinct batches of sediment were treated. One batch of 90 tonnes of sediment, dredged directly from the harbour without any pretreatment, is the focus of this paper. Sediment was received in October 1992 and was treated through to December 1993. Treatment was conducted in an high-density polyethylene-lined treatment cell that was covered by a steel framed greenhouse. The treatment involved amending, tilling and closely controlling the sediment water content. In approximately 300 days of treatment, the level of total polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon contamination was reduced from approximately 1,000 µg/g to 100 µg/g, corresponding to a destruction and removal efficiency of approximately 90%. Notably, the high molecular weight polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (containing 4 to 6 benzene rings) were effectively degraded to concentrations below the Ministry of the Environment and Energy’s Soil Placement Guideline for controlled fill (MOEE 1992). The trend in the data suggest that following addition of DARAMEND amendment and several months of active management, the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons would continue to biodegrade as a result of the DARAMEND amendment even without active management of the sediment.

By introducing the coking wastewater treatment research and application, such as adsorption,coagulation and sedimentation, flue gas treatment and other physical methods, as well advanced oxidation, wet oxidation, Fenton reagent method, photocatalytic oxidation, ultrasonic oxidation, ozone oxidation method, electrochemical oxidation, supercritical water oxidation, incineration and plasma technology, this paper puts forward the trend of coking wastewater treatment technology.

In recent years, with the development of road traffic in China, road and bridge projects have gradually increased. While the number of projects has increased sharply, construction technology has been greatly improved. The increase in the use of roads and bridges has led to an increase in the probability of cracks on the roads and bridges. Starting from the common types of cracks, this article explains how to effectively ensure the service life of roads and bridges, improve the performance of roads and bridges, avoid road cracks, deal with the cracks, and emphasize the influencing factors of cracks and the corresponding solutions for the reference of relevant personnel.

The method of applying prestress to CFRP plates can make full use of the characteristics of high-strength, enhance the force properties, prevent peeling damage and reduce the strain lag. Construction technology of prestressed CFRP plates strengthening reinforcement concrete beams was introduce in this paper, and bending test of 6 reinforcement concrete beams strengthened with prestressed CFRP plates were carried out based on the self-developed prestressed CFRP plates supporting anchorages. The test results indicate that the flexural capacity and crack resistance capacity can be increased compared with non-prestressed CFRP plates, and the construction technology can be adopted in practical projects.

Building materials and construction technology are strongly interrelated with the pillars for sustainable development (e.g. environment, society economy, culture and politics). Earth Building, an 11,000-year-old practice of building using sustainable and earth materials, is practiced worldwide. Earth has been used to construct walls, floors, roofs, and even furniture. Today it is estimated that between 33-50%of the world's population is housed in earth homes. This chapter reviews the two-year process of earth buildings and earth architecture carried out by the Department of Architecture Faculty of Built Environment and Engineering at National University of Malaysia (UKM). The current research emphasis is on the types, construction methods, and architectural aspects of earth buildings and earth architecture. The current manuscript compares type of earth buildings and their properties and applications based on building materials and architectural aspects in construction.

Slope greening is an important part of road engineering construction. Its main purpose is to improve the ecological environment on the side of the road and improve its ability to resist geological disasters.The engineering features of this paper are long road engineering, large area of slope treatment. It analyzes the technical difficulties in the construction of slope greening project, such as large excavation depth, more stone slopes along the road, serious exfoliation of external soil and less nutrients in the soil. In view of the above technical difficulties, the key construction techniques such as excavation and filling slope construction, external soil direct seeding, spray seeding of external soil with hanging net, slope maintenance, combination of skeleton protection and plant slope protection are studied. It ensured the quality of the project and provided reference for the construction of related projects.

Advances in the research on cable domes were summarized and reviewed, such as structural improvements and innovation, prestressed mode and optimize designing of cable dome structure, dynamic and wind resistance performance analysis, construction technology, model experiment and sensitivity analysis. Some topics worthy further research were proposed, including seismic property study, improvement and innovation in construction techniques and methods, fire resistance study, stiffness analysis of structures, general design methods and software. This work will provide a meaningful reference for the design and application of cable domes.

The problem of the urban water shortage and water pollution is becoming problem more and more serious. Therefore, governments around the world pay close attention to the application of sewage treatment technology, especially that with high efficiency, low energy consumption and strong operability. Dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) can produce low temperature plasma under atmospheric pressure, and the application of the technology for sewage treatment research gradually becomes to be one of hot research. In this paper, the dielectric barrier discharge structure is designed, and the plasma produced is used for sewage treatment research. The system adopts coaxial type discharge structure. The research shows that the structure is safe and reliable. And, it has low discharge power and can discharge uniformly. So, the plasma produced by dielectric barrier discharge can be convenient and easy to used in sewage treatment, and the result is effective.

The green building is one important way to develop the energy conservation work. The green construction technology surmounts in the tradition building technology, paying great attention to energy conservation, low consumption and high efficient and environmental protection. The green construction technology is the sustainable construction method. This paper takes the medicine building in Nanjing Pukou Central hospital as an example to analyze the characteristics of the green construction techniques and study the application of the techniques in public buildings.
