Electrostatic sensor is based on the principle of electrostatic induction. It is widely used for gas/solid two-phase flow measurement because it has the advantages of simple structure, high sensitivity, low cost, etc. In this paper, a velocity measurement system of gas/solid flow based on electrostatic sensor and cross-correlation algorithm is discussed. Electrostatic sensor with circular electrode is adopted. By COMSOL optimum simulation, the axial length of the electrode is designed. The signal conditioning circuits are discussed and cross-correlation algorithm is analyzed. The initial experimental results demonstrate that the velocity measurement system of gas/solid flow designed in this paper is feasible.

ABSTRACTUncooled cantilever-based microbolometer arrays received more attention recently due to high sensitivity and low cost. The central idea is built on the deflection of a bilayer SiNx/Al material upon the temperature change. The thermal-mechanical behavior of the bilayer is significant for the performance of the microbolometers. In this paper, we perform thermal cyclings to aluminum and SiNx films. The CTEs and the stress evolutions were measured using a curvature measurement system. The curvature profile of a SiNx/Al/Si component was predicted using an extension of Stoney's formula, well agreeing with the experimental results. This work demonstrates fundamental mechanics issues in bilayer SiNx/Al components, which have a great potential for the use in uncooled microbolometer applications.

Today, as the importance of system automation increases, measurement systems become more and more important. Consequently, in many applications, from washing machines, motorized vehicles, robots to nuclear turbine reactors, velocity measurement is inevitable. In industry, velocity is widespreadly needed to be measured. Besides that researchers through the globe need such measurement devices in their studies. On the other hand, to be able to make a correct measurement, it may be needed to pay much on measuring equipments while the economical issue is sometimes the reason for the research does not continue on or even not begin. So, it has always been a practical problem for both industry and researchers not to be able to measure the rotating velocity of machinery with both sufficient precision and low cost. In this paper, a very low cost but still precise velocity measurement system design is introduced, explained and discussed. First, building up of the sensor circuit and basic components of the system are introduced. Then, data acquisition and signal processing of the system are explained. Finally, advantages of the system are discussed and some conclusions are given.

Over the last decade, the development and deployment of in-line multiphase flow metering systems has been a major focus worldwide. Accurate measurement of multiphase flow in the oil and gas industry is difficult because it occurs in wide range of flow regimes and multiphase meters do not generally perform well under the intermittent slug flow conditions which commonly occur in oil production. A novel ultrasonic multiphase metering concept has been proposed and investigated which measures the flow rates of the liquid and gas phases from ultrasonic measurements made in two different flow regimes – partially separated and homogeneous — in the same measurement system and fuses the data from the different flow regimes to obtain improved overall measurement accuracy. The system employs a partial gas/liquid separation using a T-junction configuration and a combination of Doppler and cross correlation. The partially separated flow regimes uses ultrasonic cross correlation measurement for the liquid flow measurement which has gas entrained within it. The homogeneous regime employs ultrasonic Doppler method. This approach has been tested on water/air flows on a 50mm facility in the Department of Process and Systems Engineering. The liquid and gas flowrate measurements using the proposed techniques were compared with a reference measurement and good agreements between these two measurements were obtained with error ranging from ± 2% and 10%, respectively. Such a performance offers the potential for an in-line multiphase flowmeter with improved performance.

A Soil Deformation Measurement System using OPENCV library and FFTW library in C++ was developed in this paper. The system applied camera calibration based on neural network and Fasst Fourier Transform (FFT) cross-correlation algorithm for Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV). It is used to obtain soil deformation data, such as displacements, velocity and strain, and visualize the deformation. Experiments show that this system could acquire deformation data from soil images accurately, efficiently and continuously, which provides a strong proof that image processing technology has practical significance and application value in the research field of geotechnical engineering.

This paper developed a resistivity measurement system on the platform of in-situ detector which based on seafloor drilling machine. In order to precisely process the weak voltage signal which outputted by the resistivity probe, the paper carried out the cross-correlation algorithm theoretical derivation and MATLAB simulation, then ported the algorithm to TMS320F28069 DSP processor and designed hardware. A mass of contrast experiment shows that the cross-correlation algorithm is an effective method to process weak signal. It can improve accuracy and anti-jamming ability of the submarine sediment resistivity measurement system. The method of submarine sediment resistivity measurement can be widely used in fields of marine geological survey, marine environment research, etc.

Water rockets have become one of learning tools for STEM Education in schools. Generally water rockets make in school activity have no parachute load, altitude, and velocity measurement. Rocket can go any direction and also will cause hard collision to the ground that break the high speed rocket. It will take time and need more cost to make a new one for students. This study propose the low cost NodeMcu based water rocket measurement system to solve the problem. Altitude and velocity measurement are added and deployment system to release the parachute to make water rocket fall to the ground smoothly. Smartphone application used to monitor altitude and velocity of water rocket. Variables consist of water volume and air pressure. Five experiments had been conducted and recorded. The result found that the system could calculate Altitude, Velocity, and Deployment System also could release the parachute automatically in Coasting Descent position.
