In this research, a kind of nonwoven composite used for the absorption of heavy mental ions has been made. The composite was made of two layers of ES thermal bonded nonwovens as the protective layers and the PAN-amidoxime nanofibers which are prepared through the modification of electrospun PAN nanofibers as the interlayer. The composition was achieved by the ultrasonic bonding method. After the composition the PAN nanofibers were modified by grafting the amidoxime group to PAN. The results of FT-IR spectra and FE-SEM indicated that nitrile groups in PAN were partly converted into amidoxime groups and there were no serious cracks on the surface of PAN-amidoxime nanofibers. The results show that the amidoxime groups have been proved to be grafted to the PAN nanofibers with the percent grafting of 81.6%.

In this paper, some chalcone derivatives (C1, C2) were synthesized based on the reaction of equal amount of substituted acetophenone and substituted banzaldehyde in basic medium. Oxazine and thiazine derivatives were prepared from the reaction of chalcones (C1-C2) with urea and thiourea respectively in a basic medium. Pyrazole derivatives were prepared based on the reaction of chalcones with hydrazine mono hydrate or phenyl hydrazine in the presence of glacial acetic acid as a catalyst. The new synthesized compounds were identified using various physical techniques like1 H-NMR and FT-IR spectra.

Dialdehyde nanocellulose (DANC) was prepared by periodate selective oxidation of secondary hydroxyl group of nanocrystalline cellulose (NCC). NCC and DANC samples were characterized by FT-IR, XRD and conductimetric titration. Aldehyde groups were introduced during the process of sodium periodate oxidation, which was confirmed by the FT-IR spectra. The aldehyde group content increased with the increase of sodium periodate. The crystallinity index (CrI) and crystallite size of the samples were continuously decreased with the increase of the oxidant.

Novel polymers with imide and ether were synthesized by pyromellitic dianhydride and Pyromellitic dianhydride (PMDA), 4,4'-metylenedianiline (MDA), amino-teminated polyoxypropylene (D2000). The structures and thermostability of polymer were characterized through FT-IR spectra, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differental scanning calorimetry (DSC), solubility behavior was determined via seven solvents. The results indicate that these polymers have good chemical resistance and exhibit excellent thermostability owing to the introduction of imide units.

Hydrotalcites consist of Brucite-like layers with positive charge and anionic compounds in the interlayer to form neutral materials. The general formula of hydrotalcite compounds (HTLc) was Mg-A1-HTLc. All samples were characterized by XRD, FT-IR spectra and TG. After calcination, the transformation of hydrotalcite structure can be characterized by vibration infrared bands corresponding to hydroxyl groups, octahedral layers and interlayer species. Moreover, the calcined samples show a relatively high surface area and total pore volume.

The reaction of rhodium(III) chloride trihydrate with 1,3-diaminopropane and 1,4-diaminobutane in concentrated hydrobromic acid results in the formation of the bis(α,ω-diammonioalkane) diaquahydrogen(1+) hexabromorhodate(III) dibromides [H3N(CH2)xNH3]2[H5O2][RhBr6]Br2 (x = 3, 4). Dark red single crystals were obtained by diffusion-controlled crystallization at room temperature. Both compounds crystallize in space group type P1̄ and their structures are closely related. In view of crystal engineering they are inorganic-organic hybrid materials built up from octahedral [RhBr6]3−, simple Br− and flexible chain-like [H3N(CH2)xNH3]2+ ions with the [H5O2]+ and further Br− ions incorporated and thus might be considered as addition compounds [H3N(CH2)xNH3]2[RhBr6]Br ∙ [H5O2]Br. Cationic and anionic moieties in the crystal are held together by a complex system of N-H∙∙∙Br and O-H∙∙∙Br hydrogen bonds. Geometric features of O-H∙∙∙Br hydrogen bonding as well as the pronounced disorder of the [H5O2]+ ions in the diammoniopropane salt indicate the weak association of these species in the solids. Weak association of the ions is also documented by difference ATR-FT-IR spectra of the compounds and related diammonioalkane dibromides that show the stretching modes of the terminal O-H bonds above 3300 cm−1. Further characteristic bands are recognized at ca. 1635 (s), 985 (vs), and 670 (m) cm−1.

The physicochemical, total phenolics, flavonoids, and antioxidant activity were evaluated for biochemical characterization of coriander and mustard floral honey. The total phenolics, flavonoids and antioxidant activity were analyzed using UV-VIS spectrophotometer. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) was used to evaluate the chemical characteristic of coriander and mustard floral honey. The total phenolics content was ranged from 294 to 462 mg gallic acid equivalent kg-1 of honey. The total flavonoid content was ranged from 43 to 53 mg quercetin equivalent kg-1 of honey. Antioxidant activity results were expressed as inhibitory concentration (IC50) value ranged from 4.58 to 5.54 mg mL-1. FT-IR spectra showed the presence of alcohols, carboxylic acids, esters, ethers, phenols, and amines in both floral honey samples. This study discovered that coriander floral honey is more affluent than mustard floral honey in nutritional as well as medicinal aspects. At a glance the processing of honey by heating did not affect the phenolics, flavonoid, and antioxidants of honey; even processed honey contains higher phenols and antioxidants. The FT-IR spectra showed the similarity in both kinds of honey refers to chemical constituents. This study will help the researcher and honey consumer to find out the higher bioactive medicinal compounds containing honey.

A series of arsenate substituted chlorapatite was directly prepared through aqueous precipitation method. Characterization studies from elemental analysis, XRD, FT-IR spectra and SEM confirmed the forming of the arsenate/phosphate chlorapatite solid solutions. The XRD analysis indicated the typical solid solution phase of the apatite-type structure. In FT-IR spectra, the area of the phosphate peak was gradually suppressed and the arsenate peak increased as the proportion of the arsenate increased. The solids with As/(As+P) molar ratio of 0.49~1.0 were needle-like crystals; those with As/(As+P) molar ratio <0.19 were large tabular.
