The insulating layer and interlayer are the main factors to form the heterogeneity in the Continental reservoir. According to the reservoir geological features in Funing Formation of Gaoji Oilfield, combined with characteristics of sedimentary environment and diagenesis, we carry out classification and feature description for the insulating layer and interlayer in the research area. The spatial distribution of insulating layer and the interlayer is on the basis of analyzing the log response characteristics of the single well. With the impact of reservoir heterogeneity, we further elaborate the distribution of insulating layer and the interlayer and remaining oil in the relationship.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to contribute to the existing literature on the relationship between debt and firms’ performance, by focusing on the influence of the institutional framework on this relationship and on the role of macroeconomic variables in explaining performance. Design/methodology/approach The present work is based on a large sample of 48,840 manufacturing firms from nine European countries covering the 2008–2013 period and uses a fixed effects model. Findings Results show that the impact of debt on a firm’s performance depends on the measure of debt (short-term debt positively affects a firm’s performance, whereas long-term debt presents a negative relationship) and that the institutional framework is indeed affecting the relationship between debt and a firm’s performance: the positive effect of debt on a firm’s performance tends to be higher the greater the “efficiency of the legal system” and the greater the “credit market regulation.” Macroeconomic variables also play a key role in explaining performance. Originality/value Unlike most of the existing studies, which focus only on the relationship between debt and firms’ performance in a single country, the present work uses a sample of firms from nine countries with the purpose of filling a research gap and bringing new empirical evidence to this research area.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate the main factors and mechanisms that govern the price of cider, and to apply the analysis to the price of ciders in the Province of Québec, Canada. Design/methodology/approach The analysis is following the methodology applied to the determinants of the price of wine. A model for the price of cider is estimated with 70 prices representing five regions and five types of products. Findings The analysis is limited to one geographical factor, i.e. the region of origin and factors related to the producer, i.e. the age and the size of the firm. The results conclude on the importance of geographical factors related to the region of origin. The relationship between the price of ciders and the region of origin is statistically significant at the 1 percent level for two regions and shows a high premium for ciders produced in these two regions. Production factors related to the age and the size of the production unit although showing the expected sign are not statistically significant to conclude on the impact. There is a small premium for producing effervescent cider compared to still or rosé cider but the most statistically significant results at a 1 percent level are for ice ciders and fortified ciders which are two typical products from Québec. Research limitations/implications The analysis has important potential implications on the role of certification of origin. Cider regions in Québec, Canada have recently defined quality standards applied to specialties like Ice cider and Fire ciders. The choice of high quality products is reflected in the premium associated to the price of these products. Originality/value Contrary to the wine sector, there is a lack of research and literature on the determinants of the price of ciders. This study is the first to propose a pricing model to examine some of the determinants of prices.

The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between competitive responses and performance, subject to environmental dynamism and strategic action types, to understand competitive responses under moderating effects. This study employed a structured content analysis of coding data from multiple sources and collected competitive actions and responses for the period between 1999 and 2011 in the Taiwanese banking industry. The results show that response likelihood, response imitation and response speed are positively associated with firm performance and that environmental dynamism weakens the relationships among firm performance, response likelihood and response speed. Furthermore, the intensity of strategic action strengthens the relationship between response imitation and firm performance. This study first investigates the roles of environmental dynamism and action types on the relationship between competitive response characteristics and firm performance. This study considers not only the impact of individual firms' responses on their performance but also the impact of collective actions taken by other firms, thus providing new insights in competitive dynamics research.

Typical tight gas reservoirs in the Su53 Gas Field, Ordos Basin, are the demonstration region for deploying horizontal wells. In order to provide foundation for evaluating the volume fracturing adaptability of horizontal wells, through using the amplitude difference data between deep investigate double lateral resistivity (Rd) and shallow investigate double lateral resistivity (Rs), and other conventional logging data, in combination with the response characteristics of fracture in the logging curve, reservoir fracture was quantitatively identified with the variable scale fractal technique, the vertical heterogeneity of fracture distribution was analyzed, and the relationship between fractal dimension value of fracture and initial deliverability of gas well was researched. The results indicate that, this method is applied to quantitatively identify and evaluate the fracture development degree of single-well is feasible; the relationship between fractal dimension value and fracture development degree is positively relative, fractal dimension value is bigger, the fracture is more developed; there is a good corresponding relationship between fractal dimension value and deliverability of gas well, fractal dimension value decreases with a decrease of deliverability.

Employment insecurity and an insecure safety atmosphere are the main factors that deteriorate the morale of construction workers [1]. These are both indirect causes that may have a great impact on the risk of an accident in the long term, and as such need to be studied [2]. Therefore, this study examines the relationship between employment insecurity and safety atmosphere and the safety behavior of construction workers. Through verification of the model presented in this study, it was proven that employment insecurity and safety atmosphere have an impact on safety behavior.

In the current economic and social environment, a real challenge for youth is the acquisition and development of the relevant skills in entrepreneurship in order to consider entrepreneurship as a desirable employment choice. Given this aspect, the purpose of this paper is to investigate the main factors influencing students’ entrepreneurial intentions, paying particular attention to their entrepreneurial family background. Additionally, the paper aims to explore the effect of entrepreneurial family background on the relationship between effectiveness of entrepreneurship education and entrepreneurial intention. We conducted a study where results were based on the outcomes of a survey among Romanian high school and university students in the final year (N = 617). Our four main hypotheses were tested through independent samples t-tests, correlation analysis, and hierarchical multiple regression analysis. The findings highlighted that the students with an entrepreneurial family background reported a higher entrepreneurial intention than those without such a background. The variables that positively influenced the entrepreneurial intentions of the students were entrepreneurial family background, effectiveness of entrepreneurship education, and entrepreneurial personality traits. Furthermore, this entrepreneurial family background negatively moderated the relationship between effectiveness of entrepreneurship education and entrepreneurial intention. For this reason, emphasis should be placed on both formal and informal entrepreneurial education, which will increase the propensity of young people to choose an entrepreneurial career.

Introduction: The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between six main factors affecting prevention of accidents using structural equations. Method: Initially, most previous studies were investigated and the most effective factors in preventing accidents and their relationship with each other were determined using the structural equations.  Later, a questionnaire was administered to investigate the accident victims of a steel industry in Yazd during five years. In the last stage, the data were examined by Smart-PLS software. Results: By examining the numerical results, six main factors included about 58% of the share of accident prevention factors. At the 95% confidence level, the impact of safety culture (0.31), rules and instructions (0.29), training (0.28), engineering (0.24), human factors (0.31), as well as capital and equipment (0.38) factors were calculated. Moreover, the remaining 42% included unknown factors in the industry. Conclusion: We found that economic, safety culture, and human factors had the highest effects.
