Crops are the main victims of the accident of water pollution. The paper will discuss treatment program, investigation, crop damage symptom recognition, direct economic loss estimation of water pollution, confirmation, accident responsibility partition and arbitration of such links. It will provide principles for the other accidents. Besides, it can also be used as a handling reference to other issues of pollution and pollution accident.

Abstract. The total losses caused by natural disasters have spatial heterogeneity due to the different economic development levels inside the disaster-hit areas. This paper uses scenarios of direct economic loss to introduce the sectors' losses caused by the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake (2008 WCE) in Beijing, utilizing the Adaptive Regional Input–Output (ARIO) model and the Inter-regional ripple effect (IRRE) model. The purpose is to assess the ripple effects of indirect economic loss and spatial heterogeneity of both direct and indirect economic loss at the scale of the smallest administrative divisions of China (streets, villages, and towns). The results indicate that the district of Beijing with the most severe indirect economic loss is the Chaoyang District; the finance and insurance industry (15, see Table 1) of Chaowai Street suffers the most in the Chaoyang District, which is 1.46 times that of its direct economic loss. During 2008–2014, the average annual GDP (gross domestic product) growth rate of Beijing was decreased 3.63 % by the catastrophe. Compared with the 8 % of GDP growth rate target, the decreasing GDP growth rate is a significant and noticeable economic impact, and it can be efficiently mitigated by increasing rescue effort and by supporting the industries which are located in the seriously damaged regions.

It is necessary to establish the presence or absence of a borderline schizophrenic reaction early, for it is of great importance in deciding on the treatment program for the patient. Its presence is suspected if there are symptoms that indicate that the patient is developing a thought disorder, and/or a disturbance of affect of schizophrenic type, and/or is beginning to detach from reality. It is also suspected if there is a persistence of such symptoms as disturbances of judgment, poor empathy and understanding of others, an absence of enjoyment, periods of seclusiveness, or sexual and philosophical preoccupations. Mixtures of the neuroses, with free-floating anxiety often indicates an underlying schizophrenic process. In the treatment of a patient with a borderline schizophrenic reaction, the prime focus should be on the prevention of a psychosis. The child should be protected against severe stresses, which may involve some environmental manipulation. Anxiety has a deteriorating effect and tranquillizers may have to be used. Supportive psychotherapy is of great value. It is essential that the relationship with the therapist be a positive one. The therapist should be a real person who offers the adolescent patient someone with whom to identify. One strengthens useful defences and lessens the need for the other defences by reducing the ego's needs for those defences, e.g. by reality testing the fantasied threats, by offering a less punitive and less rigid superego, and by manipulating the environment to reduce stress. It is often helpful to orient the patient towards pleasurable experiences which have an ego-strengthening effect. Here then, in the handling of the defences and in the management of anxiety, can be seen a major difference in the treatment of patients with a borderline schizophrenic reaction, from the treatment of patients with psycho-neuroses or personality disorders. Failure to recognize the presence of an underlying schizophrenic process may lead to the choice of the wrong treatment program for the patient, with a resultant worsening of his condition and the onset of a psychosis.

One hundred and forty-nine dental casts of subjects with complete unilateral clefts of the lip and palate from six European cleft palate centers were assessed by means of the Goslon Yardstick. The Yardstick proved capable of discriminating between the quality of the dental arch relationships between the six centers. Two centers showed especially poor results. Three centers obtained satisfactory results although differing surgical techniques were used in these centers. One of the centers showing satisfactory dental arch relationships employed a more complex and expensive treatment program than the other two centers, which both used simpler centralized treatment regimens.

The damage to coconut and rubber plantations by the Indian crested porcupine (Hystrix indica) in the Nilambur Forest Division, Malappuram District was reported for the first time. The objectives of this study were to document the mode of attack and estimate the extent of damage by Indian crested porcupine in the plantation crops of the forest fringes. The study was carried out from June 2013 to May 2016 as part of the documentation of human-wildlife conflict in Malappuram District. Stratified random sampling, along with quadrat (10 m x 10 m) method was used to assess the crop damage. Estimation of the economic loss to farmers was carried out by using the market price of the coconuts during the period, collected from the website of Farm Information Bureau, Govt. of Kerala. The mean economic loss of crops damaged by Indian crested porcupine was Rs.1322.35/- per ha/annum. The debarking behavior of Indian crested porcupine on coconut palms (n=31), rubber trees (n=27) and consumption of newly formed bamboo culms (n=42) were also reported. No one has implemented proper mitigation measures against the Indian crested porcupine in the District.

In this paper, determinate beam and indeterminate beam with multiple span are optimized by using genetic algorithm, the mathematic model of optimize beam is built and the processing method of constraint conditions is given. The examples show that the algorithm could be used for optimizing determinate structure, and also optimizing indeterminate structure. Compared to the linear approximation method, genetic algorithm has advantages of being simple, easy, fast convergence and has no use for changing the objective function and constraint conditions to linearity or other processing. Its results agree with linear approximation method’s. It is the other method that can be adopt in engineering field.

Hotel guests are sometimes confused as to what they can take from their hotel room. Passengers are sometimes confused as to what they can take from their flight. When passengers take a flight and hotel guests pay for a room, what items are they entitled to? It is not so clear. This research explores this issue. The economic value of these items can be quite prohibitive and represents a direct economic loss to these tourism businesses. The focus of previous research on theft in the tourism and hospitality industry focuses on tourists being robbed or employees stealing from their employers. This research assesses the self-reported incidence of tourists taking items from hotels and airlines and investigates the relationship between tourists taking both free and not-complimentary items and self-reported ethical tourist behavior. Further, we segment and profile the types of tourists who take items from hotels and airlines. We achieve these research objectives by undertaking a quantitative survey through 538 completed questionnaires captured via an in-person intercept method in commonly frequented tourist hot spots in Hong Kong. The incidence of theft is relatively high for some items, but tourists generally know which items they are entitled to and which they are not. There are three segments of tourists in terms of their self-reported behavior of taking items from hotel rooms and off flights: Honest, Impulsive, and Habituals.

Most of the large hydropower projects in the region have been behind schedule than agreed in the contracts. Such delays besides project cost overrun cause direct economic loss to the countries in the form of interest costs, loss of energy revenues and loss in industrial production due to shortage of power. With delays, the Contractor finds ways for claim for additional time and cost. Such a situation may be the result of poor contract administration & management skills. Therefore, a fair and just administration of the contract is key to the successful performance of the contract on time, with respect to both budget and quality with minimum dispute events.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3126/hn.v14i0.11265HYDRO Nepal JournalJournal of Water, Energy and EnvironmentVolume: 14, 2014, JanuaryPage: 49-51
