Hollow spherical CaMoO4:Eu3+, Li+red phosphors have been successfully synthesized by spray pyrolysis method. The crystalline phase, morphology and luminescent properties of the obtained samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and photoluminescence emission spectra (PL). The XRD results demonstrated that all the diffraction peaks of the samples can be well indexed to the tetragonal phase of CaMoO4. The SEM images showed that the particles were composed of hollow spheres, whose diameters are about 1.4 μm. The as-prepared CaMoO4:Eu3+, Li+hollow spheres show a strong red emission corresponding to the5D0-7F2transition of the Eu3+ ions under ultraviolet light.

ZnO/AAM (anodic alumina membrane) arrays were prepared by an electrodeposition method and X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns show that the characteristic diffraction peaks of ZnO appear, such as the lattice planes of (100), (002), and (102), moreover, the diffraction peaks of Al2O3 are dominated. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images show that the average sizes of the ZnO particles are about 100 nm corresponding to the channel diameters of AAM, and the ZnO arrays are composed of those close particles linked together. The photoluminescence emission spectra express that the as-prepared ZnO arrays can give out relatively pure ultraviolet light (395 nm) from the excitons.

ZnO and Zn1-xCdxO thin films have been deposited onto glass substrate using spray pyrolysis at 200°C. Cadmium-zinc alloy thin films have been prepared by taking different concentrations of cadmium (Cd). The elemental analysis and the surface morphology of the films were carried by the energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The EDX data show that the films are highly stoichiometric. The SEM images show that the film changes from nano fiber to grain with the increase of Cd concentrations. The X-ray diffraction pattern shows that the films are polycrystalline in nature. The crystal structure of the films changes from hexagonal-ZnO to cubic-CdO depending on the concentration of Zn and Cd in the Zn1-xCdxO films. The optical properties of these films were studied by UV-VIS spectroscopy. The optical band gap of the films was changed from 3.2 to 2.4 with the variation of cadmium.

Eu3+-doped La2Mo2O9 phosphor was fabricated by sold-state reaction method. The as-prepared samples were characterized by the application of X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and emission spectra. The effect of the sintering temperature and doping amount of europium ion on the luminescent properties of La2Mo2O9:Eu3+ was investigated. The results show that the luminescent intensity will reach the strongest when the sintering temperature is equal to 1073 K. The Eu3+ doping amounts also have obvious effect on the luminescent properties.

Through a hydrothermal method, 1 mol% Eu3+ doped NaYF4 and KYF4 micro/nanocrystals have been synthesized. The materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns, field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) images, room temperature photoluminescence (PL) excitation and emission spectra, and luminescent dynamic decay curves. The XRD analysis suggested the crystalline structures of the obtained samples. The FE-SEM images indicated the morphology and size of the obtained samples. The PL spectra illustrate the optical properties of Eu3+ in the two samples. Since it is sensitive to the local environment of the ion, the Eu3+ presents different optical properties in the NaYF4 and KYF4 materials.

AbstractThe red long-lasting phosphors (LLPs) ZnxCa1–xTiO3:yPr3+ (ZCTP) were successfully prepared via the sol–gel method. The effects of Zn2+ content and Pr3+ molar concentration on the luminescent properties of ZCTP LLPs were characterized by X-ray diffraction, excitation and emission spectra, long-lasting decay curves and thermoluminescence (TL) curves. In this study, the results indicated that luminescent properties of Zn0.2Ca0.8TiO3:0.2 %Pr3+ phosphor was the best. In addition, when Pr3+ molar concentration reached 0.8 mol %, concentration quenching effect was obvious.

ABSTRACTAn oriented film of YBa2Cu3O7−x superconductor was formed by a spray pyrolysis method. The temperature dependence of resistance showed the Tc-onset at 95K and Tc-zero at 83K with the film on a cubic zirconia single crystal surface. The X-ray diffraction pattern showed that the structure of the film was pure orthorhombic phase. Effect of the substrates and the modification of the substrates surface to form superconductive films are presented.

A series of orange-red phosphors M2P2O7: Eu3+ (M = Ca, Sr, Ba ) were prepared by traditional solid-state reaction method. X-ray diffraction analysis confirmed the formation of Ca2P2O7, Sr2P2O7 and Ba2P2O7. Scanning electron-microscopy observation indicated a narrow size-distribution of about 0.6~1 μm for the particles with a quadrate shape. Photoluminescence spectra of M2P2O7(M = Ca, Sr, Ba ): Eu3+ phosphors showed a strong excitation peak around 393 nm, and Ca2P2O7: Eu3+, Sr2P2O7: Eu3+ and Ba2P2O7: Eu3+ phosphors showed strong emission bands peaking at about 593 nm, which suggests that the Eu3+ ion is occupy the site with center of symmetry.

BaGd2ZnO5:Eu3+ phosphors were synthesized at sintering temperatures of 800, 900, 1000, 1100 and 1200 °C by high-energy ball milling method. The crystallinity, surface morphology and photoluminescence properties of phosphors were investigated by using X-ray diffraction (XRD), field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and luminescence spectrophotometry, respectively. The XRD results indicate that the crystallinity of the powder was improved and the powder shows a orthorhombic structure as the sintering temperature increased. The emission spectra of BaGd2ZnO5phosphors excited at 280 nm exhibit a series of shaped peaks assigned to the5D0→7FJ(J=0, 1, 2, 3) transitions, and luminescence intensity was increased with increasing sintering temperature. The FE-SEM images indicate that the size and shape of particles are regular.

A blue luminescent of ZnO:Zn nanocrystal has been successfully prepared by one step spray pyrolysis method without reducing gas atmosphere. Zinc acetate dihydrate aqueous solutions (0.05 M) were atomized by ultrasonic atomizer. The atomizer used an air as carrier gas with 1, 3 and 5 L/min flowrate. The tubular reactor was set at 500, 600 and 700oC. As prepared samples were characterized by means of x-ray diffraction spectroscopy and scanning electron microscope-energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDS). The crystal size of as prepared particles calculated by Scherrer’s equation give 10-20 nm. The luminescent properties of as prepared particles were measured using spectrofluorophotometer. The highest photoluminescent intensity of particles irradiated with excited wavelength of 250 nm was obtained from samples prepared using 5 L/min carrier gas with temperature of tubular reactor 700oC. High intensity of blue luminescent was obtained due to oxygen vacancy in ZnO:Zn.
