Studies on land use structural optimization can support the sustainability of land resources. The Taipusi Banner lies in the arid and semiarid area of northern China, with rapid economic development and a vulnerable ecological condition. Taking the Taipusi Banner as a research case, we adopted a land use map and statistical data, and employed the ecosystem process model to establish five scenarios, including an economically optimal scenario, an ecologically optimal scenario, a comprehensively optimal scenario, a status quo, and a projected scenario. Based on multi-objective linear programming, the land use demand was optimized; then, the CLUE-S model and adaptability evaluation were adopted to establish spatial patterns. The ecological and economic benefits were then analyzed and policy suggestions are provided. The main results include the following: (1) The optimization outputs of various scenarios show that under optimization, cropland and forestland increased by 9.13% and 18.9%, respectively, and grassland decreased by 9.81%. (2) The land use optimization shows that comprehensive optimization aimed at achieving comprehensive benefits, ecological benefits, and economic benefits increased these benefits by 3.89%, 2.1%, and 6.2%, respectively. Compared with other scenarios, focusing on the comprehensive benefits of land use can result in the greatest increase in benefits to improve sustainability land resources. Land use optimization must consider not only the optimization of both the quantity and configuration but also the dimensions of both ecology and the economy. Land use should be based on a land suitability evaluation and optimization of the land use spatial configuration to update ineffective land uses and should gradually adjust both the ecological and engineering measures.

By analyzing Ansai county utilization current situation and land utilization the past years change condition by the fact that 1989-2005 annual land inquires into a data's to locality , have revealed land utilization middle have problem. Ansai County land use patterns by state policy affects in more, at the same time for the oil industry also has a great influence on the land use type.

Land-use planning is a strategy of appropriately managing the use of land resources. However, there would be numerous factors derived from nature, economics and society potentially affecting implementation of the land use planning. Therefore, the sustainable use of land resources can only be achieved through a combination of economic, social and environmental factors into land-use planning. The assessment of the environmental status coupled with environmental matrix methods and scoring methods allows us to pick out investigated factors having most negative impact on land use and land use planning in Mo Duc - Quang Ngai. Thereby, the current study was conducted to incorporate the economic, social and environmental factors as well as introduce a multiple criteria approach into implementation of land use planning in the district.

Under the influence of new land use planning, the condition of man-land harmony is received more and more attention, for the purpose of reaching the harmonization of social, economic and ecological benefits, then realizing sustainable land use. Therefore, an effective way to optimize land space utilization and to improve the overall efficiency is necessary. This paper focused on integrated zoning study of land use taking Pu county as a case. Firstly, the study built an index system; then used principal component analysis and cluster analysis method. The results showed three integrated land use areas were formed according to functional characteristics in leading industries, which can not only provide a reference for land-use zoning of the study area, but also ensure rational and efficient use of the regional land resources, ultimately promoting coordinated regional development.

This article was prepared to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the journal «Voprosy statistiki» (up to 1994 - «Bulletin of Statistics»). It deals with retrospect analysis of the background and milestones of establishment and development of Russian natural resources and environmental statistics (the journal delved into some of its aspects relating mostly to the modern stage). The material consists of two parts. First - contains the genesis of natural resources statistics using the example of land resources and land use, as well as forest resources and forest use. As for the accounting and statistical reflection of land resources and land use, this retrospective study covers the period from the XVII century and then in more detail from the XVIII century. The author assesses statistical recording done by the outstanding Russian statisticians Zhuravsky D.P. and Janson Y.E. on the special decree of Catherine II from 1765. The article reviews the fundamental characteristics of 1877-1878, 1887 and 1905 land censuses in the Russian Empire. The paper presents the main stages and features of recording and reporting (including census) activities in this field in the Soviet and post-Soviet periods. When introducing accounting and statistical reflection of forest resources and forest use the author focuses on changes in the departmental hierarchy of statistical units that led to revisions of approaches to accounting. There also is a detailed description of the original entry of data on standing timber. The paper references specific difficulties associated with the statistical treatment of forest accounting in the Soviet and modern period. The second part of the article addresses the details and specific features of the formation and development of natural environment protection statistics in the Russian Empire, the USSR (RSFSR) and the modern Russian Federation. It notes both the achievements made at a given stage and the shortcomings that have occurred. There has been a continuity in methodological developments and organizational arrangements, acquiring practical experience in implementing various methods of statistical observations and forms of statistical reporting (surveying). The article indicates that the quality of the relevant accounting and statistics depends on the performance of the general public administration related to efficient use of the resources and natural environment protection. The information on forms of statistical reporting in this field is organized covering both the system of federal statistics and ministries and departments of the natural resource/environment protection block. The article briefly overviews primary environmental data depicting the state and dynamics of Russian natural resources for 1976-1990, and in more detail for 1997-2017.Decreasing demand for quality data from governing bodies, the insufficient qualifications of those who work with the national documents that, for example, include specific environmental indicators, was among the major drawbacks of recent years. The author presented conclusions and proposals on improving information and statistical support of environmental management, maintaining and restoring natural resources.

Sustainable land use depends on both the socio-economic processes that trigger spatial development and the effectiveness of spatial governance tools that aim to regulate these processes. The ESPON Sustainable Urbanization and land-use Practices in European Regions (SUPER) research project aims to analyze the main land-use dynamics in Europe, looking at and comparing the interventions implemented in the various countries in order to promote sustainability. In particular, a sample of 227 interventions was chosen from a total of 39 European countries. This paper analyzes them on the basis of four different variables: (i) the scale at which the interventions are conceived; (ii) the type of territories subject to them; (iii) the type of interventions; (iv) the type of instruments behind these interventions. On this basis, it develops a number of considerations concerning the effectiveness of the interventions implemented in Europe to promote more sustainable use of land.

The public space encourages social exchange, develops and maintains social groups and allows the exchange of public messages. When the public space and public life are not supported in the community, there is no one to communicate with, people become isolated, less inclined to help or support each other. Public space is the scene of public life that promotes a sense of community, sense of place, human connection and communication as well as dependence sensation. High-quality and well-managed public space is a benefit to the city's economy, creating shelter from the car-centred life and move to a more natural environment as well as significant urban land use. Therefore, in recent times, in order to establish the right conditions in cities for different human needs, great attention is paid not only to the development of physical infrastructure, but also to other aspects that will help to create sustainable balance of social, economic and environmental aspects. One of the quality of life in the city return ways is the release of urban spaces for pedestrians. Until these days the pedestrian zones are extended little by little, resulting in disposal of the car parking-lots and improved cycling and other transport facilities. Sustainable use of urban pedestrian zones would provide economic, social, environmental and cultural benefits only if these aspects are combined with each other. The aim of the article is to distinguish and critically analyse (on the basis of a literature review) factors influencing the functionality and sustainable development of pedestrian streets. Article object – cities pedestrian street. The study was conducted using scientific publishing content analysis and synthesis techniques. This article is an overview.
