The failure cause and failure mode of cutting tool is analyzed based on the reliability analysis on cutting tool of vertical shearing machine. Reliability calculation model is established, and experimental research on cutting tool is operated. The results show that the critical failure mode of cutting tool is electric die grinder .The crucial failure cause is that in the shearing process, the UO2 ceramic in the fuel components is crushed into particles with high hardness, these hard material will lead to tool wear. The reliability of cutting tool is 0.892, which cant achieve the spent fuel reprocessing working shearing machine reliability requirements. The structure and materials of cutting tool must be improved. The parallel distance between the upper surface of cutting tool and the lower surface of the pressing block has to be adjusted.

Abstract TATMO V-N is an AISI Type M7 high-speed steel modified by alloy balancing and a nitrogen addition to develop superior hardness response in heat treatment. It is an excellent grade for many cutting-tool applications requiring an optimum balance of red hardness, edge toughness and wear resistance, such as drills, taps, end mills, reamers and milling cutters. Its combination of outstanding properties and high hardness makes Tatmo V-N a logical alternate for cobalt high-speed steels in many cutting-tool applications. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, and elasticity. It also includes information on forming, heat treating, machining, and surface treatment. Filing Code: TS-452. Producer or source: Latrobe Steel Company.

This paper presents a mathematical method to analyze the influence of each machine tool part deformation on the machining accuracy. Taking a 3-axis machine tool as an example, this paper divides the machine tool into the cutting tool sub-system and workpiece sub-system. Taking the deformation of lower surface of the machine bed as the research target, the mathematical model of the deformation on the displacement of the cutting point was established. In order to distribute the stiffness of each part, the contribution degree of each part on the machining accuracy was analyzed. Using this mathematical model, the stiffness of each part can be distributed at the design stage of the machine tool, and the machining accuracy of the machine tool can be improved economically.

Abstract The article deals with the research of operational reliability of forest felling machines with the method FMEA (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) and its implementation for observed machines in the organization. Forwarders 810D by John Deere were chosen for this research. The research was realized in real operational conditions. Application of the FMEA method allows flexibility in case of unexpected situations and optimization of human potential abilities. FMEA tool is a tool preventing outages operational reliability and preventive tool for ensuring the maintenance of facilities. This paper explores and verifies the operational reliability theory in practical real-world conditions, resulting in a reduction in operating (variable) costs, minimization of failures and readiness and increased performance of observed machines.

Stainless Steels are possessing fabrication flexibility, high hardness, durability, low maintenance, high strength and resistance to heat and corrosion. This alloy steel is extensively used in various engineering applications. Some of the conventional machining techniques results in loss of original properties of stainless steel work material and makes it to behave like ordinary material within the machined surface. Machining of Stainless steels is more challenging due to its high alloying content. Problems such as application of huge coolant supply and poor chip breaking while machining, work hardening in work material, use of cutting tools with varying tool signature, results in enhanced production cost and time. Further, it is important to ensure that there is no machine tool-cutting tool vibration leading to edge chipping of cutting tool. To avoid all these problems, Abrasive water jet machining (AWJM) is used. This paper presents the machining capabilities of AWJ on Stainless Steel304. Influence of dynamic input parameters such as jet pressure, speed of traverse and abrasive flow rate on the depth of cut is investigated. An empirical model is proposed for depth of cut and an error analysis is done with measured and modeled values of depth of cut. It was found that traverse speed influences more than other parameters. SEM images indicated smooth surface at entrance and waviness at exit side. The model proposed predicts the depth of cut more or less accurately.

Zirconia toughened alumina (ZTA) has shown a great effect in the cutting tool application due to its high hardness and comparable fracture toughness. However, the capability of the materials to be applied in as the dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) is not being discussed in detail. In this study, an attempt is made to further explore the potential of ZTA to be applied in DRA. Various related characterization techniques were applied that is subjected to DRA properties. The addition of CeO2 (0 wt.% to 15 wt.%) on ZTA has been pressed into pellets shape and sintered at 1600 °C for 2 hours under pressureless conditions. Based on the XRD analysis, only corundum and yttria doped zirconia phases were present. Shift in position of the zirconia peaks was observed due to an existence of Ce2Zr3O10 phase. For the DRA measurement, ZTA with 10 wt.% CeO2 addition have resonated at 6.76 GHz which is suitable for X-band applications. Meanwhile the radiation pattern indicated the omnidirectional characteristic, which suggested that the signal could be received by this dielectric antenna in various positions. Therefore, ZTA- 10 wt.% CeO2 have high potential to be used as DRA that operates X-band frequency range applications.
