Lanthanum strontium chromite (LSC) thin films were prepared from the solution of La, Sr, Cr nitrates, acetylacetone and 2-methoxyethanol. Dip-coating technique was used to decompose La0.8Sr0.2CrO3, LSC thin films. The obtained precursor solution was sufficiently spinable and dried gel films were crystallized after heat-treating above 500°C for 2 h. The oxidation at 800°C for 40 hr resulted in no Fe3O4 surface-insulating phase, which means that the LSC thin film would be an effective oxidation-protecting layer of SUS430 substrate. The carbon deposited on an uncoated SUS430 substrate was amorphous with spherical morphology. The obtained LSC thin film was found to be very effective on preventing carbon deposition under dry hydrocarbon atmosphere.

In this study, HfxZr1-xO2 (0 < x < 1) thin films were deposited on silicon wafers using a dip-coating technique and by using a precursor solution prepared by the Pechini route. The effects of annealing temperature on the structure and morphological properties of the proposed films were investigated. HfxZr1-xO2 thin films with 1, 3 and 5 layers were annealed in air for 2 h at 600 and 800 °C and the structural and morphological properties studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). XRD results show that the films have monoclinic and tetragonal structure depending of the Hf and Zr concentration. SEM photographs show that all films consist of nanocrystalline grains with sizes in the range of 6 - 13 nm. The total film thickness is about 90 nm.

TiO2 has been synthesized using Titanium isopropoxide as precursor solution. Different amount of Titanium isopropoxide of 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8 and 1 mol concentration used to synthesis TiO2 . Different mol concentration solution has been blend with Camphor sulfonic acid protonated Poly (2, 5-dimethoxyaniline) and cast as thin film by dip coating. The optical and XRD analyses were carried out for the dip coated TiO2 thin films. The DC electrical conductivity was measured for the dip coated Camphor sulfonic acid protonated Poly (2, 5-dimethoxyaniline) /TiO2 blend thin films. The Titanium isopropoxide of 0.6 mol concentration shows better UV-Vis absorption and crystalline nature. Camphor sulfonic acid protonated Poly (2, 5-dimethoxyaniline) /TiO2 blend thin film of 0.6 mol concentration shows higher DC electrical conductivity when compared to other mol concentration.

Thin films of poly vinyl alcohol (PVA) were prepared on pre-cleaned glass substrates by Dip Coating Method. FTIR spectrum was used to identify the functional groups present in the prepared films. The vibrational peaks observed at 1260 cm-1 and 851 cm-1 are assigned to C–C stretching and CH rocking of PVA.The characteristic band appearing at 1432 cm-1 is assigned to C–H bend of CH2 of PVA. The thickness of the prepared thin films were measured by using an electronic thickness measuring instrument (Tesatronic-TTD20) and cross checked by gravimetric method. XRD spectra indicated the amorphous nature of the films.Surface morphology of the coated films was studied by scanning electron microscope (SEM). The surface revealed no pits and pin holes on the surface. The observed surface morphology indicated that these films could be used as dielectric layer in organic thin film transistors and as drug delivery system for wound healing.

ABSTRACTMn-Co-Ni-O thin films of metal atomic ratio 3.0 : 1.9 : 1.0 were prepared on glass substrates from methanol solutions of the corresponding metal β-diketonates by dip-coating. As-prepared films were heated at 900°C for 1 h mostly after being calcined at 450°C for 5 min. The film thickness increased with increasing concentration of the solution as well as the number of lifting times. However, the effect was not apparent with the sample prepared without calcination. The prepared films were observed to crystallize into a complicated spinel phase by the heating process at 900°C for 1 h. The surface of the dense film composed of particles of about 0.2 μm diameter, was almost even. The thermal and aging responses of electric resistance showed the film to be a good material as a thermistor.

Emission from Er-doped SnO2 thin film deposited via sol-gel by the dip coating technique is obtained in the range 500-700 nm with peak at 530 nm (green). Electron-hole generation in the tin dioxide matrix is used to promote the rare-earth ion excitation. Evaluation of crystallite dimensions through X-ray diffraction results leads to nanoscopic size, what could play a relevant role in the emission spectra. The electron-hole mechanism is also responsible for the excitation of the transition in the 1540 nm range in powders obtained from the same precursor solution of films. The thin film matrix presents a very useful shape for technological application, since it allows integration in optical devices and the application of electric fields to operate electroluminescent devices.

The spray pyrolysis technique was employed to deposit V2O5 thin films on a glass substrate. By varying the precursor solution volume from 10[Formula: see text]mL to 50[Formula: see text]mL in steps of 10[Formula: see text]mL, films of various thicknesses were prepared. Orthorhombic polycrystalline V2O5 films were inferred from the XRD pattern irrespective of precursor solution volume. The micro-Raman studies suggested that annealed V2O5 thin film has good crystallinity. The effect of precursor solution volume on morphological and optical properties were analysed and reported.
