This paper presents the design and development of tracking system for the mines detector robot. The scope for the tracking system covers two important tasks: 1. Design of optimum tracking path to cover maximum scanning area of an enclosed field, and 2. Obstacles avoidance system to be able avoid the various types of obstacles during the scanning process. The tracking algorithms were designed and simulated using Webots simulation software. Upon successful simulation where all design objectives have been achieved, the algorithms were programmed in microcontroller to implement the tracking system on the mines detector robot. Experimental test rig for the robot was a flat surface, enclosed 3m x 3m area where several obstacles of different sizes and shapes were randomly placed. Several metal samples representing the metal detonator of minefield were also placed to test the sensing system of the robot. Infra-red (IR) sensors were used for the system to detect the obstacles and also to detect the end-path boundary of a routine scanning cycle. While simulation test results have shown achieved design objectives, experimental results shown 90% achievement and limitation on evading big size of circle-type obstacle.

Wireless communications test set is a test instrument widely used in the field of telecommunication test, but it costs much. To satisfy the actual needs of University's practical teaching, the wireless test simulation software is designed and developed. The simulation system uses C# language for development and design. In term of technical implementation, methods such as object-oriented simulation, GDI+ and Monte Carlo methods are used to deal with the complicated design during the simulation. It realizes the simulation test process of the test set, getting the same results between simulation test results and actual test effects. In term of simulation teaching, the system provides several practical teaching and management functions by combining with the actual conditions of university. The simulation system is of strong practicality to be applied in college teaching as wireless measurement simulation teaching software.

Based on Hertz-Mindlin contact model in software EDEM by discrete element method, using linear vibrating screen 360 mm×600 mm, movement characteristics of particle group on sieve plate and law of particles going through sieve plate were studied in screening process of coal in certain conditions, which were as follows: dip angle was 0 °, amplitude was 5 mm, frequency was 11 Hz. The simulation test results show that there are important influences of vibration direction on screening process. And influence law of vibration direction on screening effect was revealed finally. The paper also gained mathematical model between particle group’s screening efficiency and vibration direction angle, and mathematical models of particles easy or hard to sieve and material between average movement speeds and vibration direction angle.

Tracking of public bus location requires a GPS device to be installed, and lots of bus operators in developing countries don't have such an answer in situ to supply an accurate estimation of bus time of arrival (ETA). Without ETA information, it's very difficult for the overall public to plan their journey effectively. In this paper, implementation of an innovative IOT solution to trace the real time location of buses without requiring the deployment of a GPS device is discussed. It uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) proximity beacon to trace the journey of a bus by deploying an Estimate location beacon on the bus. BLE detection devices (Raspberry Pi 4) are installed at selected bus stops along the path to detect the arrival of buses. Once detected, the situation of the bus is submitted to a cloud server to compute the bus ETAs. A field trial is currently being conducted in Johor, Malaysia together with an area bus operator on one single path. Our test results showed that the detection of BLE beacons is extremely accurate and it's feasible to trace the situation of buses without employing a GPS device during a cost-effective way.

Nowadays, power converters play a fundamental role in the conditioning and processing of active and reactive power, and are directly related to power quality indexes. In this sense, new multi-level converter topologies have been integrated in order to provide higher power processing capacity with lower harmonic distortion, switch stress, heating, and losses. The use of these structures compared to conventional two-level converters is especially suitable for high power of the order of megawatt. Considering the relevance of this approach, this paper presents a comparative performance analysis among the conventional two-level topology (2L-VSC) and two multilevel topologies in a grid-connected system: neutral point clamped (NPC) and modular multilevel converter (MMC). Simulation test results present the impacts on voltages and currents for the switches and the whole system, as well as the evaluation of the total harmonic distortion (THD) in order to highlight the crucial points of each topology for this kind of application.
